The Industrial Revolution was a dramatic time period where it greatly increased output of machine-made goods that occurred during the 18th century in England. “Industrialization and its by-product rapid urban growth fundamentally altered political conflicts, social relations, cultural concerns, and even the landscape itself.” (639) Manchester from Kersal Moor by William Wylde represent a work of art painting which demonstrated many aspects of the changes in the Industrial Revolution. This was probably painted around the 1850’s where new working class transformed life into the Western world. Industrial Manchester from Kersal Moor depicts an industrial landscape scene that contrasts both the countryside and industry side. The countryside land has many forest-like trees everywhere and two people sitting on the left hillside looking forward. The industry side has many factories and buildings. This painting seems to be divided into different sections with shades of light and dark colors. The bottom portion is the darker side where most human and animal power works in the countryside.
