...WALK TOUR REACTION PAPER Last, Monday, September 21, 2015, we had our "Food" walk tour in Binondo with Mr. Ivan Dy. The tour was very tiring and at the same time stomach filling. It was tiring because the weather was so hot and we just walked to go to our destination. It was stomach filling because we went to 5 destinations and just ate chinese foods the entire tour. The foods were delicious. Mr. Ivan is a fun and entertaining tour guide. Even though he had mic, we werent able to understand some of what he’s saying. He wasn’t able to catch all the attention of the students. Last Sunday, September 27, 2015, we had our Intramuros tour with Mr. Carlos Celdran. The tour last for about 3 hours. It was called a walk tour but there really is not much walking. We went to 4 destinations and sit down to listen to him. The tour was tiring and at the same time interesting. It was tiring because the weather was kind of hot and there are many of us and it was interesting because Mr. Carlos Celdran made the tour very entertaining with his props, the changed of hats and the throwing of santan from his pocket. From the way he delivers, it looks like we were just watching a play. Every time he says the line “Walk This Way!” it excites everyone and follows him and you can see a smile on everyone’s faces. It was one of the reasons why the tour was exciting. He even gave all of us a chocolate, to be specific choc nut, for answering his question. I noticed that almost all the people who belong to...

...Industry Analysis In its 110 years of service, Manila Electric Company (Meralco) has been one of the oldest and biggest companies to have survived in the Philippines. It is a company that distributes and supplies energy to industrial, residential and commercial markets in some areas of Luzon including Metro Manila, the entire provinces of Bulacan, Rizal and Cavite and parts of the provinces of Laguna, Quezon, Batangas and Pampanga. In addition, the company through its subsidiaries provides other services such as engineering, construction, information systems and technology, real estate and insurance. Porter’s Five Forces Threat of New Entrants Given the current position of Meralco, it is least likely to happen that competitors will enter its market since it would be difficult for them to compete with a company that is already established and trusted for more than a hundred years. Entrants who dare compete will be a lot farther from where Meralco is now, resulting to difficulty in gaining market share. Threat of Substitute Products or Services We are in a world where resources are limited. As to electricity, some of the alternatives for fossil fuels (commonly used for generating electricity) are solar panels, wind energy and water turbines. However, these are not good substitutes as of the moment since these energy sources are too expensive and have limited capacity. In addition, these sources though feasible still have lots of drawbacks that cannot be controlled yet. But with...

Labor2 1AB Communication Arts Seniors, Institute of Communication, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, Colegio de San Juan de Letran 2 Faculty, Language Area, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, Colegio de San Juan de Letran ABSTRACT Pinoy Big Brother of ABS-CBN Channel 2 is the Philippine version of the reality television show Big Brother. Television’s effects on viewers especially teenagers is a subject that has been extensively studied in the last twenty years and whose impact extends farther than most people realize. Many studies have focused on how television programs that appear to be “real” (such as new and daytime dramas) alter the viewers’ perception of reality (or social reality). However, there is a lack of qualitative data to either support or disprove this belief. This study thus aims to describe and discuss the pluses, minuses and interests (PMI) of the perception of Pinoy Big Brother to teenagers. Forty selected teenagers who are a fan of the show were the participants of this qualitative inquiry. Initially, the teenagers were made to fill out forms for purposes of profiling their baseline characteristics. The teenagers were asked individually to discuss both their positive and negative perceptions to Pinoy Big Brother. Data...

Magpantay1,* De La Salle University, IT Department lissa.magpantay@delasalle.ph Abstract: Decision Support Systems are used extensively in different industries to assist in decision-making across a wide spectrum of problem areas. These systems are being developed with much consideration of its enormous benefits, both in time and cost savings, and most especially in helping organizations in their decision making. The researchers have identified the main problem of the Planning and Coordination Unit in the Manila Health Department (MHD) which is its poor use of information resulting to wrong identification of specific programs for the communities of Manila City. This results to the difficulty of health centers in identifying what barangays need to be prioritized and what nutritional programs have to be implemented. The objective of the study is to develop a community-based decision support system which is web-based that helps MHD in planning and implementing nutrition and health programs to the community in District V of Manila City. Rapid Application Development (RAD) methodology was used to develop the system and PHP, HTML, and My SQL were used as the primary programming language...

...Manila Bulletin Publishing Corporation (MBPC) is the first and oldest newspaper firm in the Philippines. MBPC is known for its broadsheets, magazines such as the Philippine Panorama Magazine, and tabloids such as Tempo and Balita in Filipino. The corporation has transformed into a comprehensive newspaper and it is published every day. Tabloids are also published daily and magazines are published weekly. Newspapers play a very important role in society for the main purpose of providing people with updated news every day, but ever since technology modernized, the demands for newspapers or readership decreased significantly. With Manila Bulletin having a very rich history in the publication industry, since it exists in the Philippines for over 114 years, it does not pertain that its success will not be over-run by its competitors such as Philippines Daily Inquirer and Philippine Star. Manila Bulletin ensures quality outputs. However, this does not mean their processes and systems are all quality oriented or at its best because there are still some problems that keeps on occurring within the corporation that requires improvements. Samples of their inefficiency is the manual process of inserting the papers, test runs costs and the late submission of reports. This generates additional costs for the corporation and this takes up the time for the distribution of the products. Manila Bulletin’s current plant location is located at Intramuros, which is not as competitive as other companies...
