MARCELLUS AND ULTICAL NATURAL GAS The Marcellus and Utica (M-U) natural gas is used by households for heat and cooling, used by business, and industrial customers generally. There is also petrochemical industry which is another consumer for natural gas in this region. The demand for natural gas by the chemical manufacturers is because the M-U natural gas is rich in liquid such as ethane (Marcellus Drilling News, 2018). According to Marcellus Drilling News (2018), the recent growth in natural gas consumption in the region of Marcellus and Utica has been in the electrical power. Therefore, I relate this source of demand as other firms. Electric generation is a critical new market for natural gas; hence this has been the ever-expanding supply. Marcellus Drilling News (2018) further indicated that natural gas increased gas-fired electricity generating capacity, the retirement or little use of coal plants have also contributed to greater use of natural gas for electricity generation. …show more content…
There was little growth in the use of natural gas in Marcellus and Utica, such that supply is growing, this keeps the price in the region lower or in other terms, the price was kept in the basement. The cause of this was that, there were no enough pipelines to carry gas to other market where there is demand. It is was also noted that, in these states. natural gas production was lower than demand prior 2011, but recently, increased supply has been able to meet demand within the states and other states around. This was achieved by modifying the pipelines to transport natural gas out

...Running head: FRACKING AND THE EFFECTS ON THE ENVIRONMENT Fracking and the Effects on the Environment and Public Health G. White Professor Wells English 215 Research and Writing August 2, 2013 Fracking and the Effects on the Environment and Public Health People are now recognizing some serious concerns to the public health and the drinking water becoming contaminated, because the fracturing of shale in our communities and what can be done to stop it all. The hydraulic fracturing of shale needs to be, banned until further investigations are completed to determine how safe it is to people and the environment surrounding the drilling site. It all started with a few cases of illness, which everyone assumed was a virus that was going around. Over the past couple of years, these illnesses have become a very serious problem, not only to people but to animals and livestock too. This is a big concern and it is obvious that it is not a genetic disease as first thought. Far too many families, who are living near these drilling sites and have contracted the same illnesses in many different areas across the United States,. Is this a coincidence or facts of serious problems taking place in the United States from fracking? It is very important that everyone should be aware and to take notice how close to where they live and if any hydraulic fracturing is taking place because there is much more to this story than many people realize. The hydraulic fracturing of...

...EIA/ARI World Shale Gas and Shale Oil Resource Assessment   SHALE GAS AND SHALE OIL RESOURCE ASSESSMENT METHODOLOGY INTRODUCTION This report sets forth Advanced Resources’ methodology for assessing the in-place and recoverable shale gas and shale oil resources for the EIA/ARI “World Shale Gas and Shale Oil Resource Assessment.” The methodology relies on geological information and reservoir properties assembled from the technical literature and data from publically available company reports and presentations. This publically available information is augmented by internal (nonconfidential) proprietary prior work on U.S. and international shale gas and shale oil resources by Advanced Resources International. The report should be viewed as an initial step toward future, more comprehensive assessments of shale gas and shale oil resources. As additional exploration data are gathered, evaluated and incorporated, the assessments of shale oil and gas resources will become more rigorous. RESOURCE ASSESSMENT METHODOLOGY The methodology for conducting the basin- and formation-level assessments of shale gas and shale oil resources includes the following five topics: 1. Conducting preliminary geologic and reservoir characterization of shale basins and formation(s).  2. Establishing the areal extent of the major shale gas and shale oil formations.  3. Defining the prospective area for each shale gas and shale oil formation.  4. Estimating the risked shale gas...

...may be a seemingly good thing, mandatory volunteering causes young adolescents to rebel against community service and volunteer work. According to the Cognitive Evaluation Theory study, people tend to resist and lose interest in what is being asked of them when they feel they are being controlled by an outside source because of the human nature of individualism(Pearce 1).This is already seen in other school situations, such as with homework. Many children will often refuse to do rudimentary or simple homework assignments. Throughout history, volunteering has evolved into a cultural connection; a common characteristic of humans on a local, national, and global level is the desire to help one another. Although this statement is not necessarily true for every individual, most people feel an urgency to assist friends, family members, coworkers, and/or strangers in need or in crisis. Why should we volunteer? Many people donate their time for varying reasons whether it’s fundraising for disaster relief or collecting, preparing, and serving food for a food bank (Moore). Maybe it’s the warm sensation in your heart after you play a game of chess with a bedridden cancer patient, or the contagious smiles shared between servers and recipients at a soup kitchen that attracts a person to volunteering; in any case,...
