In the story, Rape Fantasies, Atwood, draws readers attention to the way society displays the subject of rape. For example, “The way they’re going on about it in the magazines you’d think it was just invented… like something terrific, like a vaccine for cancer… they put it in capital letters on the front cover and inside they have these questionnaires….they are beginning to have it on television too” (page 348).
