Maria Hallett's Relationship With William Paulsgrave

June of 1716
It was a cloudy morning, but nothing could ruin my day. I was going to be captain on the ship I have grown quite fond of, over the time I had been here. This was the best thing since my toxic relationship with Maria Hallett and my failed expedition to find the “Sunken Spanish Treasure” with William Paulsgrave. I made up for the cloudy sky with my smile, claimed Paulsgrave. He was right, my smile was from ear to ear; I felt mirth when my face hit the sunlight. I was ready for the crew to call me by my rightful name.
Many along with Paulsgrave, many of my shipmates were smiling as we walked out; and when we did, Blackbeard was leading us to the best seats on the ship. As I sat there I remembered how much I’d aspired in the past…show more content… The storm had not left, more like hung in the air testing the crew’s concentration, but one moment the sky was cloudy and the next it was black but one crack of lightning. I shouted commands to raise the sails and get below deck, while Paulsgrave and Blackbeard followed my urgent commands. The rain was aqueous and cold, but below deck the crew’s sweaty bodies quenched my need for warmth.
We waited for the storm to pass with sullen expressions, as though they were magnetically attracted to our faces. The boat swayed Marcus, one of my shipmates, to sleep and we stared at him, for he was the only thing that could distract us. Most of my men joined Marcus in sleeping, but I couldn’t sleep so I watched as if I was a wolf protecting my cubs. I could see how they did fall asleep though; the lights were dim and we were starting to be rocked less.
The storm finally passed and I stepped onto the the deck. It had wood sprawled out everywhere, and even our effort to save our sails weren’t enough. Through all of that, I saw the two stubby stools standing and my smile came back. I raced down the steps and woke my crew. When we were all above deck we sang as we felt the sun hit our faces once again. We finished the ceremony and drank ourselves silly that night, all well and
