Marieke Nijkamp was born January 23, 1986 in the Netherlands and raised there; she currently still resides in the Netherlands. Nijkamp identifies as a “queer, non-binary, disabled person” (1). She has no pronoun preference and is very interested in speaking about identity and marginalization. At a young age, she was diagnosed with multiple autoimmune disorders along with Asperger’s Syndrome. The Asperger’s had left her bedridden, but resulted in passion for books.
