Marieke Nijkamp was born January 23, 1986 in the Netherlands and raised there; she currently still resides in the Netherlands. Nijkamp identifies as a “queer, non-binary, disabled person” (1). She has no pronoun preference and is very interested in speaking about identity and marginalization. At a young age, she was diagnosed with multiple autoimmune disorders along with Asperger’s Syndrome. The Asperger’s had left her bedridden, but resulted in passion for books. She is described as being outgoing with a bright personality and bright hair and clothes to match.
