With a GDP of 1.4 trillion dollars and a population of 47.2 million people, Spain is the 12th largest economy in the world and the fifth largest in the EU. Spain was the 13th largest importer in the world in 2010. In addition, the country was the 7th largest recipient of foreign direct investment in 2010 and the 10th largest investor worldwide in terms of foreign direct investment.
