Sydneyland Descriptive Writing

...His Only With the gentle cracklings of the dusty record player jumping back with each rotation. With a room that had a scent of musk and stale perfume. In the cold white hospital room, the two lovers held hands for what may be the last time. June laid in the pearl white bed with Sydney on the green stool holding her hand waiting for her to wake one last time. The sweet young nurse entered the room in her bright pink scrubs, with a tear in her eye to set the record back to the beginning, Sydney started to sing along with his rusty voice that stood out amongst the beeping machines and the defining silent halls. Softly if only for his beautiful wife he sung. His face carried a gentle smile that helped hide his mournful eyes. As June’s eyes opened she started to sing with intermittent tune as she kept stopping to rest and take a few heavy breaths. “You should… take me to… the dance.” she said in a worn, wheezy voice. Sydney smile as a rush of memories flowed through his mind. The warm gentle spring breeze that made the grassy meadow ripple like the turning waves in the ocean. Turning and swaying over the flower soaked fields. The peaceful chirping and the gentle breeze was suddenly broken by June stampeding through the fields, a girl in a beautiful sundress. The lines of age not present on her flawless face, short curled hair like the golden ray of the sun, and eyes like the sky on a clear day. Closely following June was Sydney; his brown long hair that waved and flickered in the...

Field Trip/Hip-Hop & Dance

...Learning a dance routine is more fun than I thought it would be. I thought we were going to see a play in the theatre. Come to find out we were going to be taught a choreographed hip hop routine. This was a new experience for me. I was afraid of trying at first but then I realized it wasn’t that serious, so I calmed down and just danced. It was only me and Mississippi (a fellow classmate) and two other females that I didn’t know dancing when we started. It was supposed to be the whole class, but they didn’t want to dance because they were afraid of looking bad. I just wanted to have fun and I did because I have never done some of the things the dance instructor told use to do. We were dancing to a rappers song called “Work Hard, Play Hard” by Wiz Khalifa. It made it just a little bit easier that we danced to a song that I knew. If given the same opportunity again I would do it again. I had fun because we looked like we belonged in an Usher video or something when we got through. Another plus was that there were a couple of nice young ladies dancing as well, and that’s never a bad thing. All in all that was a new learning experience in my life that I never expected to happen. I just wish I could remember the dance so I could show it to other...

See You Again

...See You again, by Wiz Khalifa featuring Charlie Puth is a song that appeared in Furious 7 as a tribute to Paul Walker. The lyrics are the main focus, but is heavily assisted by the music. See You Again emits a very emotional aura. The song begins with a repeating piano line that sets  the emotional mood for the song. The voice of Charlie follows with the main focus being on the lyrics and the melody. Charlie’s voice really adds the emotional impact in this song as his high notes are filled with such delicate intensity. There is a change in pace in the song when Khalifa’s slow rapping follows Puth’s soothing voice. After Khalifa’s part, all of the background instrumentals become quiet as Puth voice and the piano appear, causing a more prominent emotional impact. The shift from Khalifa’s rapping accompanied by a lot of background music to Puth’s soulful voice with just the soft accompaniment of the piano creates a goosebump worthy musical experience. What makes this song so emotional for the listener is how relatable it can be. Unlike many other emotional songs, the lyrics to this song can be applied to almost any person who has lost a loved one. Even though I have not lost anyone close to me, I still feel very emotional when listening to the song. This fact illustrates the powerful effect this song has on the listener. The music does not merely support the vocals, instead they support each other, and make the other that much more impactful to the listener. In particular, the soft...

Young, Wild and Free

...Young, Wild and Free “So what we get drunk. So what we smoke weed. We're just having fun. We don't care who sees. So what we go out. That's how its supposed to be. Living young and wild and free.” This is a portion of the song Young, Wild and Free by Snoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa. This song truly defines who are the youth today. We cannot deny the fact that the youth is different and living life without thinking the consequences of their actions. This is the best time of our lives while we are young, curious and free so we must value and be grateful because it will only come once in our life. We can enjoy and have fun once in a while but we must bear in mind that we also have responsibilities to fulfill, not only for ourselves but also for our country. Have we forgotten what Dr. Jose Rizal said? According to our national hero, “The youth is the hope of our nation.” He believes in us and has a strong faith that we could do something for our country. It is not a burden on our shoulders but this is a duty we must do. We should give back, not only for heroes who fought and died for our independence but also for our motherland where we were born, grew and lived. The term – nation building or national development, is usually used to refer to a constructive process of engaging all citizens in building social cohesion, economic prosperity and political stability in a nation in an inclusive and democratic way. Going by the definition, it is seen that all citizens are to be involved...

Chess Board

...In a seller’s market, buyers must adopt new tools and strategies to compete effectively on a new playing field. Consolidating supplier markets, rising energy prices and the growing demand for raw materials in emerging markets have fundamentally changed the purchasing framework. Suppliers are more powerful than ever, which means buyers must adjust quickly to a new playing field. A.T. Kearney developed The Purchasing Chessboard—a compilation of insights and experience from thousands of purchasing projects performed worldwide—to help procurement professionals master the tools of their trade. The Purchasing ChessboardTM Buying in a seller’s market Since the 1980s, most procurement professionals have operated in a buyer’s market. Using relatively simple tools—RFIs and RFPs, bundled products and services, and multi-year contracts—companies could negotiate from 1 to 3 percent annual price reductions from suppliers. But this “golden age” of purchasing appears to be over. The ongoing consolidation of the supplier market, rising energy prices and the increasing demand for raw materials from emerging markets means more companies are in a seller’s market. And buyers must adopt new tools and strategies to compete effectively on a new playing field (see sidebar: A New Playing Field on the next page). New Strategies in a Seller’s Market In a seller’s market, old purchasing strategies such as pitting suppliers against one another, or simply requesting...

Aldi & Lidl
