EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

WK Investments operates 4 self storage facilities in the Midland/Odessa area. These facilities operate as Loop 250 Self Storage Center and Midkiff Self Storage Center in Midland, and as West County Road Self Storage Center and Grandview Self Storage Center in Odessa. While the company is the market leader in this area, we feel there are certain measures the company can take that will help both maintain a market leader position and possibly attract new customers.
WK Investments currently has a strong market position as a leader in the market. They do have higher prices than the competition; however, the current position allows them to be the price setter in their perspective markets and their prices are justified with their superior products/services.
In researching the customers that use the facilities most often, we recommend the following market segments to focus on: * Homeowners * Renters * Vehicle Owners * Renters
The marketing strategy that we recommend for the company is a strategy of differentiation. We feel that this approach is best suited for the company because their product is superior to competitors in the area. Because we want to highlight the special features of each location as well as the superior service, we feel that the differentiation approach would work best for this company.
After a careful analysis of the

...our devices that it can be harmful to our life or that of our company. The security provides our societal whole with ease of transaction when accepting technology. Some of the concerns all lead to the question of the ethical, legal, geographic and political variables when protecting consumer’s privacy especially since wireless computing and handheld devices have become so heavily adopted in our society. Stated in the textbook “Key aspects of consumer privacy breaches include seclusion, access control, and autonomy.” (Judy Strauss, Raymond Frost, 2012) This means that the independence and the right to be left alone along with sufficient access control should mean that consumer privacy should not be breached unless they provide access. The problem with this is that breaches can be made without providing access because of Wi-Fi connections. If you are out and you connect to a Wi-Fi account a thief can access your information. The growth of wireless Internet access globally only increases chances that unwarranted invaders will invade privacy. 2. Self-regulation is “the private sector’s ability to rapidly identify and resolve problems specific to its area of competence”. (Judy Strauss, Raymond Frost, 2012, p. 398)The argument for and against the self-regulation of e-marketers is attributed to several variables that have occurred specifically with advertisers and marketers on the web. The supporters of self- regulation support the...

Ikea Operations Management

...Operations Management:IKEA IKEA’s BUSINESS IDEA (www.ikea.com): “We shall offer a wide range of well-designed, functional home furnishing products at prices so low that as many people as possible will be able to afford them." Introduction At the outset, it may be useful to characterise IKEA in terms of the characteristics of demand (also known as the four Vs, see Slack et al. p 20). First, IKEA is clearly a high volume operation – as indeed most international retailers are – which lends to systematising operations but which implies capital intensive processes and therefore cost considerations will be crucial. Second, IKEA offers a large number of products (up to 14000 depending on the country/store) so there is high variety in the production process which not only leads to the need for complex and flexible processes but also entails high unit costs. Third, variation in demand will however be low, or at the least predicable (holiday periods for example) so advanced planning is possible which eliminates the need to set resources aside as a “capacity cushion” for unexpected demand. Lastly, IKEA – again as most retailers – have high process visibility, or in other words display a high degree of direct customer experience, which underlines the importance of dedicating sufficient attention to the shopping experience in all its facets. In what follows, and in line with the questions for this TMS, the implications of the five performance objectives to IKEA will be examined...

Cisco

...Cisco Virtualization Experience Infrastructure (VXI) Reference Architecture October 5, 2010 What You Will Learn Enterprise IT departments are pressured to control costs, improve manageability, enhance security, and speed-up the deployment of new capabilities while supporting a consistent user experience across diverse endpoints. Desktop virtualization (DV) has become a popular solution for addressing these needs. With hosted DV, the end-user’s desktop experience (operating system, applications, and associated data) is abstracted from the physical endpoint and centralized. The user’s desktop image is hosted as a virtual machine on a data center server. Users can access hosted virtual desktops from anywhere through DV appliances, smart phones, tablet computers, laptop and desktop computers, and other clients. Organizations deploying DV face many challenges, as the DV technologies potentially affect the entire IT infrastructure. To address these challenges, Cisco has developed Cisco® Virtualization Experience Infrastructure (VXI), a comprehensive architecture for desktop virtualization. Cisco VXI, which uses three existing Cisco architectures, includes designs for virtualized data centers, virtualization-aware borderless networks, and virtualized workspaces, and the critical services needed to support these architectures. Cisco VXI reduces the total cost of ownership (TCO), streamlines operations, simplifies management, and positions organizations for growth. This document describes...

Bus 302 – Chapter 14 Case – “Hewitt-Packard Company”

...Assignment # 2 – Chapter 14 Case – “Hewitt-Packard Company” 1. Discuss the three most serious problems you have identified in the case. Defend why you think they are the most serious. When Mark Hurd, the new CEO, took over, he found matrix structures ambiguous, confusing and inefficient. The main reason is that there is no clarity on the roles that each unit in the matrix is intended to play. Unit roles suppose, responsibilities and relationships in a way that is clear, but not excessively detailed and hierarchical. Although the matrix seems to be a logical organizational solution, Fiorina, has not found it an easy structure. She has struggled with ambiguous responsibilities and reporting relationships, been slowed down by the search for consensus decisions, and found it hard to get all the different units to work constructively together. In fact, CEO Carly Fiorina was so preoccupied with immediate issues that she lost sight of her ultimate objectives. Fiorina and her staff consider that the HP Way is an anachronism of a different, slower time, and that for the company to survive and succeed in the future it must be driven purely by a rational business strategy. After all of the layoffs, organizational changes, assertion of executive hierarchies and the destruction of traditional company rules of behavior, the HP Way that the old-timers are fighting to save is probably already dead. Fiorina and her team appear not to believe in the Way, they are now reduced to appealing...
