...Extract from a 3,000 year-old papyrus. She is one girl, there is no one like her. She is more beautiful than any other. Look, she is like a star goddess arising at the beginning of a happy new year; brilliantly white, bright skinned; with beautiful eyes for looking, with sweet lips for speaking; she has not one phrase too many. With a long neck and white breast, her hair of genuine lapis lazuli; her arm more brilliant than gold; her fingers like lotus flowers, with heavy buttocks and girt waist. Her thighs offer her beauty, with a brisk step she treads on ground. She has captured my heart in her embrace. She makes all men turn their necks to look at her. One looks at her passing by, this one, the unique one. * She never let it goes to her heart by Tim McGraw It Is Her Love That Gives Me Strength My sister's love is on the far side. The river is between our bodies; The waters are mighty at flood-time, A crocodile waits in the shallows. I enter the water and brave the waves, My heart is strong on the deep; The crocodile seems like a mouse to me, The flood as land to my feet. It is her love that gives me strength, It makes a water-spell for me; I gaze at my heart's desire, As she stands facing me! My sister has come, my heart exults, My arms spread out to embrace her; My heart bounds in its place, Like the red fish in its pond. O night, be mine forever, ...

...‘It’s just the feeling that I have’ the lyric of Maroon 5 song with a same name holds true to the changing market place. With so many options to choose from it takes no time to switch from one product/ services to another. The dynamics of reason can vary from quality of the product to the attractiveness of its logo or even its tagline. To meet these dynamics marketers needed to discover ‘fire’ that would kindle the customer’s loyalty, as such it was best to target the most basic element of human behavior: the desire to surpass materialistic gratification and experience the fulfilment of emotional profundity. Emotional branding is about the ‘why’, the feeling beneath the products that changes the experience and need of customers on daily basis develops the sense of intimacy. Remember the MasterCard ‘priceless’ ad? The ad reads Animal Shelter: $80. Bowl and Collar: $30. Your firs Dog: Priceless. They were not selling MasterCard rather the love of the dog. The ad became the trademark because it reasoned not just the product but the quality, an experience that all of us can relate to the desire of invaluable, ‘priceless’. As compared to the traditional branding that focuses only on the rational benefits such as educational, social, informational, economical and just a relational connect with its customer. Emotional branding on the other hand believes in developing the intimate connectivity for a long term benefit with its customers. The emotional sense of the feel of the product/service...

...THE BLACK PLAGUE Dear Journal, March 19, 1348 Never in my thirteen years of being a doctor have I seen such a horrifying sickness among so many of my patients. Streams of people are constantly flooding into our hospital, their legs and necks covered in swollen bumps that blacken within hours; goose bumps rise upon their skin as they shiver with exceedingly high fevers, and many are violently throwing up blood. Nurses are madly dashing around from person to person, trying to aid them as much as possible, while our top doctors are desperately racing against time to find some sort of remedy; the hospital is in mass chaos I tell you, mass chaos! I just can’t take it anymore, seeing so many faces that were once smiling and laughing all of twenty-four hours ago to now being masked with such desolate fear and misery. I want to leave this place, just like Dr. Kamish and Dr. Maveroh and about ten more of our staff members that deserted our hospital did. It would be better than hiding in this old closet that I’m in now, which reeks of must and unused cleaning supplies. Although, the stench of dirt and Windex couldn’t possibly smell as bad as the vile odor of the sick and decaying people outside; I don’t want to go out there. I’m petrified. If I go back out there, I could get sick myself, and leave behind my husband and kids. But I can’t stay in here. It’s wrong. I’m going to go out there right now and try to do my best to help the people that have fallen ill during this...

TO: Tom Jones, Owner of Tom’s Used Cars DATE: 7/26/2011 SUBJECT: Analysis of asking car prices (Used Mustangs) Please find below the results of the analysis of the asking prices of used cars with different characteristics. Introduction Buying cars is one of the most critical things in our life. We need to research different categories before we spend our dollars, and we must establish buying guides. Examples of the buying guides are: 1) I have to know exactly how 2) I have to know what car I want and what car meet my criteria. These guides will help us decide how much you can afford to spend, whether you should look at a fancy car or regular car, whether you should look at car with grand tourer (GT) or without grand tourer, style, transmission type and a myriad of other factors. The borderline that we agreed on as a team is the car reliability, quality, performance, and power. On this specific case study we would like to study...

...Michael Johnsons book, A Typology of Domestic Violence: Intimate Terrorism, Violent Resistance, and Situational Couple Violence provides an in-depth analysis of intimate partner violence, broken up into four different categories in hopes to clarify past research that has created misleading, problematic and contradictory findings. The four different types of intimate partner violence, according to Johnson, are intimate terrorism, violent resistance, situational couple violence, and mutual violent control. Johnson argues that intimate partner violence is not a unitary phenomenon and that understanding intimate partner violence as having different types will help those in the field of domestic violence to diminish overgeneralizations and provide better support for women experiencing intimate partner violence. Johnson formulates his book with an initial overview of the four different types of intimate partner violence and how determining which type of intimate partner violence, either intimate terrorism, violent resistance, situational couple violence, or mutual violent control, will help researchers move forward with their findings and the various conclusions that have surfaced over the past thirty years. Johnson dedicates three chapters of his book, one to intimate terrorism, and another to violent resistance, and a third to situational couple violence, claiming that these are the most prevalent forms of intimate partner violence found today. Johnson does not dedicate a chapter...

...The uprising of nearly 100,000 slaves in Saint-Domingue from 1791-1804 was the largest insurrection of slaves in history. The Haitian Revolution resulted in the creation of the first successful independent freed slave state in the world, a fact that rocked the socio-political, economic, and moral foundations of the Caribbean.[1] However, in the period following the Revolution, there is a noted increase of slavery in the Caribbean as a whole. Did the success of the Haitian uprising merely serve as a lesson for Caribbean planters and reinforce the slave society? To answer this question one must examine the factors that led to the Revolution’s success both externally, in the European metropoles, and internally, in the psychological and socio-political dynamics of Caribbean societies. Therefore, the Haitian Revolution appeared to impede abolition in the Caribbean in the short term because it reinforced white stereotypes of African savagery and inferiority, convinced planters of the danger of liberal and abolitionist ideals, and created a large void in the coffee and sugar markets which other colonies quickly filled by introducing more slave labor. While these effects should not be minimized, they were merely the logical aftershock of the tumultuous events in the established racial hierarchy. Ultimately, the Haitian Revolution was a major turning point in abolitionist history because it restructured the balance of power in the Caribbean thereby allowing a political gap for British...

...concentrates and syrups. The world’s headquarters are located in Atlanta, Georgia, with many other locations around the country. The Company and its subsidiaries employ nearly 31,000 people around the world. Syrups, concentrates and beverage bases for Coca-Cola, the company’s flagship brand, and over 230 other Company soft-drink brands are manufactured and sold by the Coca-Cola Company and its subsidiaries in nearly 200 countries around the world (Coca-Cola Company, 2012). Internationally, Coca-Cola has adopted a global strategy that includes sponsoring professional sports leagues, music artists or groups and the Olympics. For example, the company advertises with the NBA, World Cup Tournaments, the NCAA and popular music groups such as Maroon 5 (Coca-Cola Company, 2012). Coca-Cola pays several million dollars in order to have the exclusive rights to advertise or partner with these events. Although it is an expensive way to advertise, the benefits extend far past the cost of advertising. Millions of viewers worldwide tune into or watch these events and the brand exposure is enormous. Viewers are exposed to the brand and the Coca-Cola brand becomes synonymous with that popular athlete, league or artist. By paying these popular athletes and stars to endorse their products, they influence millions to buy or try the Coca-Cola brand. From there it’s up to Coca-Cola to keep the consumers to continue to use its products (Coca-Cola Company, 2012). In conjunction with their advertising...

...The Emancipation Wars Overview Above all of the acts of resistance towards slavery, non – violent and violent, there were three rebellions in the British West Indies that stood out. Those three were the Bussa Rebellion in Barbados, Easter 1816, the Demerara Revolt in Guyana, August 1823, and the Sam Sharpe Rebellion in Jamaica which took place in December 1831. The order in which the three rebellions occurred was similar; it was influential as well as extensive. Among all three rebellions there was one common factor. It was a time in which ameliorative proposals (gradual improvement in the slave’s way of life) were being made in Britain. This gave way to widespread rumours that there were measures taking place in metropolitan Britain to grant slaves their freedom but planters were withholding them (Emancipation Rumours). In all three cases this rumour aided in the agitation for freedom and precipitated rebellion. While some historians use these rebellions to make the case that slaves emancipated themselves, others are less liberal. None, however, deny that these later rebellions were pivotal to the passing of the Emancipation Act August 1, 1833. Bussa/Barbados Rebellion 1816 Unexpected The Bussa rebellion of 1816 was not that expected as it is believed that slaves began to plan the rebellion soon after the House of Assembly discussed and rejected the imperial Registry Bill in November 1815 (Beckles 90). This Bill called for the registration of colonial slaves...

...Women and their forgotten role in Slavery Nigel Sadler Sands of Time Consultancy Often when the history of slavery is studied the argument is over whose history is being told. This debate rarely goes beyond whether it is the history as written by or about the white or black involvement. There is often an assumed male history. History books mainly reflect the involvement of men. The abolitionists (Clarkson and Wilberforce), the Slave traders (Canot) and the enslaved (Equaino). In portrayal of enslaved people, men appear more frequently. In the movie Amistad it is told from the point of view of Cinque; in the TV series Roots it follows Kunta Kinte. This male dominated history fails to acknowledge, belittles and devalues the role of women at all levels of slavery. What about the female slave traders, slave owners, enslaved females, female rebels and abolitionists? Are they really invisible? Verene Shepherd, in Women in Caribbean History states that up until the 1970s Caribbean books neglected women because early historians looked at colonisation, government, religion, trade and war fare, activities men were more involved in. Also some historians felt that women’s issues did not merit inclusion and where women could have been included, such as slave uprisings, their contributions were ignored. Shepherd believes changes occurred with the influence of women’s groups who tried to correct the gender neutral or male biased history. There was also a shift into social history...
