Subject: Recommendations to Maria for BUS 470

Opening: Your brother did a good job of completing all assignments and making sure he kept up with his work. This memo gives some recommendations on how to pass the course.

Recommendations: Some recommendations for passing this course would be to stay on top of the workload. Do not fall behind because you will get stressed because the work will add up quickly and before you know it, you will have four business memo’s to complete and you won’t be able to do your best and put all the effort in that is required. The course requires your full attention, so therefore, do not skip any classes and make sure not to zone out because every piece of information counts towards something. Reading the book, and covering the key concepts is a good start to keep yourself aware of what the book is trying to teach you. Class participation is an easy way to get points so I recommend speaking up in class so that the teacher remembers you quickly and that you can earn points easily. The IRA’s are important assignments so I would recommend taking your time and making sure you read over what you have written so all your thoughts connect together. Glo-bus is a team-oriented project, which requires you and your team members to work outside of class, so I would recommend teaming up with kids that you know from previous classes. Finished documents should be reviewed and revised before passing into the professor for a better grade.

Situation Analysis: Business policy is said to be the hardest course in the business school. It is considered to be the capstone course, which encompasses all the knowledge we’ve accumulated thus far in the business school. Martin passed the course, but he could have put more effort in in certain areas, which could have boosted his grade significantly. Some areas that he lacked motivation were class participation, and didn’t put enough effort into meeting with team members to get his part of the project done. Martin missed a couple of classes and received zeros for his IRA’s. Martin’s lack of sleep affected his participation and his teacher was aware of his behavior. He received good test grades, which helped his grade out, and received good grades for the IRA’s he passed in. He also had a lot of competitiveness in his Glo-Bus project, which pushed his grade in the right direction.

Support Argument: Business Policy is a course that you can’t ignore for a day or two. There are assignments due all the time, and falling behind is not an option. This class requires time, obedience, and focus. Getting a good nights sleep and preparing for the upcoming class will give you an advantage to being successful.
Rebuttal: Focusing on other classes is very important for graduating on time. Completing the assigned minimal work for other courses will leave more time for Business Policy. This course takes a lot of time, so make sure you plan your time accordingly. This course is a capstone and will help collect all the knowledge you have learned over the years and help apply it so real life scenarios.

Closing: Everything I have recommended is in your best interest and I hope you prepare yourself for what is ahead. Take time to organize your thoughts and prepare for a large workload. Contact me if you have any questions.
