Mary Whiton Calkins was very admirable because till now women are typically discouraged or put down when trying to pursue an education in a career. Thus, being why I’m very interested to learn about Calkins. The main factor that brought my attention toward Calkins was that even though Harvard still denied her acceptance she still pursued an education somewhere else. In a way I can relate to that factor because coming from a Chicano society Latinas are typically discouraged not to go on and get an education. In my point of view, I believe Calkins was a perfect icon for any women who wants to pursue in Psychology because she never gave up what she wanted and at the end she was one of the first women to be very successful in the Psychology path.
