...CHAPTER 2 OVERVIEW ON IBS 2.0 INTRODUCTION This chapter will cover on the basic theories of the Industrialised Building System like the definitions, characteristics, types and the advantages of IBS. All of the information is important in improving on the understanding of this industrialised building system, in general. 2.1 DEFINITIONS Researches have interpreted IBS differently according to their understanding. Thus, resulting in various definitions of IBS. Among the early ones is Junid (1986) who proposed that IBS is a process by which the building components are planned, conceived, fabricated at the factory, and being transported and erected on site. The system has both the software and hardware, including system design, which is a complex process of studying the requirement of the end user, the market analysis as well as the development of the standardized component. Another researcher named Paris (1997) defined IBS as a system that uses an industrialised production technique, either in the production of component or during the assembly of building, or both. In addition, IBS is defined as a construction process that utilises techniques, products, components, or building system that involves prefabrication work, be it off-site or on site, under controlled environment, and being transported, positioned, and on-site installation with minimum site works. This definition is defined by the IBS roadmap (2003). Besides, other researches named Rahman and Omar...

...When I do the yoga and meditation I’m in better control of myself, physically and mentally. Not that it works all the time. Doing meditation on a regular basis takes self-discipline. Now it’s to the point that if I don’t do it, I really notice it. Things go haywire. (First order construct, Mackenzie et al., 2007: 63) One advantage with NLP and Hypnotherapy too is to a certain point you can coach content free to a certain point so it is possible to coach with NLP in groups and teams ( I Know this as I'm a Master Practitioner in NLP) and every team member will be able to sort out a problem and turn it into a positive with the same technique as his/her team mate but it will be a different problem. Other approaches have drawn on organisational psychology such as team coaching (Hackman & Wageman, 2005) or attempted to develop integrated models of developmental coaching (Laske, 1999) or executive coaching (Pass- more,...

...NAME: Umy Atika, Kaza CAS 100A: Section 050 Speech Title: This I Believe: Passion over Pay in the Career Field Introduction: Attention Getter: I believe in choosing a job based on my true passion. “Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life.” The above quote is credited to Confucius, the well-known Chinese legend. I believe many of you would have come across the above quote at one time or the other. Many career coaches often cite this quote at will during career counseling to drive home the view that a person’s career decisions should be based on passion and not pay. Like what he said, I believed that if we were passionate enough about doing what we love, the money would come rolling in. Thesis: Choosing a job based on your passion is important because true passion is more valuable than money and no obstacle will stop you from achieving success. Preview/Transition: For example, I believe Main Point/Example #1: Which is better, love or money? Love is the key to happiness. People say having money is what life is about. I don’t believe that. The true happiness is going after what you love. When I was in high school, I always hoped I could get an honored job such as a talented doctor, a famous lawyer or a skillful engineer, so I could make a lot of money and got rich. However, I grew up and became more mature. Now I believe that true passion is more valuable than money. It doesn’t matter what kind of job I will have soon and how much my...

...Lena Cavusoglu J. Mack Robinson College of Business, Georgia State University Master in International Business IB 8090 - International Business Environment Essay Exam # 1 Email: lcavusoglu1@student.gsu.edu 1. GDP per capita as an indicator: What are the limitations of this statistic in the context of emerging markets? GDP per capita is often used as an approximation of a country's prosperity. However, this approximation excludes significant factors such as the distribution of income, home production, underground economy, and social cost of production, in making a decision on the well-being of a country's inhabitants. First, emerging markets generally have an unbalanced distribution of income. There may be significant gaps in income between various groups of the society. In such markets, GDP per capita is a misleading indicator of the economic situation because a wealthy minority may hold a large share of GDP. GDP per capita might underestimate the fraction of society who has an income below the poverty threshold. Furthermore, the inequality in income distribution gives rise to a higher rate of increase in underground economy, which may make up a large fraction of GDP generated in a country. Consequently, many places have a higher GDP than what is reported. Second, there is a large domestic production in developing countries such as Turkey, which is not calculated in GDP since these products are not sold on the market. Homegrown vegetables and knit clothing are examples...

Save to Favorites Despite or perhaps because of difficult economic times, the pizza delivery company Dominos UK & Ireland has enjoyed rapid growth over the last couple of years. The company, which owns the Master Franchise to the Domino’s brand in the UK and Ireland, now operates through over 130 franchisees with an average of 4.5 stores each. And their long-term strategy contains the target of rolling out at least one new Dominos store per week in each of the next ten years, growing the business into a billion pound brand in the UK – almost double the current size. Shareholders in Dominos are happy! The company floated on the Alternative Investment Market (AIM) in 1999 and moved into the FTSE-250 mid-cap index in 2007. It now trades at £5.20 per share contrasted with an initial floatation price of 17 pence. Measured by turnover, Dominos is now bigger than the combined income of its largest four rivals including Perfect Pizza and Pizza Hut. The sheer scale of the...

...Luis Bojorquez Mr. Essick IB Visual Arts September 19, 2014 Artist Research Report: Vincent Van Gogh Vincent Van Gogh was born in Groot-Zundert, Netherlands on March 30, 1850. He was a Post-Impressionistic painter and his work will forever be remembered for rough beauty, emotional honesty, and bold colors.Even though he highly influenced the 20th Century, he had a mental-illness, remained poor, and he was basically unknown the entire time he was alive. Van Gogh died at the age of 37 on July 29, 1890 because of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, he was in France. Van Gogh used to use carton to practise instead of canvas. He found it easy to carry and really cheap. His particularly poor grade of board was usually 2mm thick in two layers of hand-pressed and unrefined wood pulp, and with a clear priming of pale grey or white colour. When Van Gogh normally used canvas he used the standard...

...Ida Adibi Mrs. Osburn MYP-IB English 10 – 2nd Period 24 May 2013 “Nothing That Is So Is So” Shakespeare’s play Twelfth Night focuses largely on the “nothing is as it seems” theme. This particular scene depicts a conversation between Feste and Sebastian. The fool is surprised that Sebastian is suggesting that he was not sent for Sebastian. Sebastian tells the fool to go away, calling him a “foolish fellow” (IV.i.2). Feste compliments Sebastian for holding out on him. He then sarcastically says that Olivia did not send him, that she does not want to speak with Sebastian, and that Sebastian’s name is not Master Cesario. The fool continues with a joke to emphasize the sarcasm: “nor this my nose neither” (IV.i.6). Sebastian instructs the fool to tell his nonsense to someone else and insists Feste does not know him. This fits the theme because it seems that the fool is speaking to Cesario, but that is not the case. Some words in this passage may be difficult to figure out. The fool says, “to bid you come speak with her” (IV.i.5). In this context the word “bid” may be confusing. Bid means to command or direct. Therefore, Feste is saying: to command you to come speak with her. Sebastian says, “I prithee, vent thy folly somewhere else” (IV.i.8). The words “prithee” and “folly” may be unfamiliar. Prithee means “pray thee.” It is a word that was commonly used in that time period and is frequently used in the play. Folly means the state of being foolish and lacking sense. Sebastian...
