...Sharon Williams June 07, 2011 Business Research Methods Unit I and Unit II Assessment Question # (1): How might business research help the new president make the right decisions? Answer: Cooper & Schindler (2008) argues, “Although not all organizations use business research to help make planning decisions, increasingly the successful ones does.” (Cooper & Schindler, 2008) The authors further argue the fact that “The managers of tomorrow will need to know more than any managers in history.” (Cooper & Schindler 2008) This statement along introduce and sheds light into the present situation regarding the problem that the new president of the old established company is facing and he must make the best possible decisions to proceed further so that this company can go back to a profitable status. It is fair to say that all decisions related to business related matters are about problems of some sort, and decision processes are usually different from company to company. ...Case Study 2 – Mastering Teacher Leadership Business Research Methods 1 This case presents a situation that is quite common in the education field and addresses the responses by institutions to new legislation imposed upon them. As is often the case, the legislators do not address the impacts to organizations, leaving the actual implementation to the end user (i.e., public and private schools). In this particular case, Wittenburg University (WU) is faced with the decision of whether to develop and deliver a Master of Arts degree in classroom leadership. 1.) Build the management-research question hierarchy for this opportunity. The initial step in the research is the creation of a management-research question hierarchy, to formalize the process. For this case study, the management-research hierarchy is presented in Appendix A. The purpose of this hierarchy is to examine the various stages of the research question and present a logical sequence of increasing focus that will allow the development of a survey instrument that can be delivered to potential program applicants. The initial stage is to identify and state the management dilemma, which in this case is the impending new legislation. The State of Ohio intends to require all licenced teachers to have, or complete, a master’s degree before obtaining their second licensure to teach. Given that this is new legislation and WU is not obligated to offer a program, the “management dilemma” actually presents an opportunity...

...ISSUES WITH COMMON CORE STATE STANDARDS Christina Pugh ENG 122: English Composition II Prof Allison Sansbury June 22, 2015 Issues with Common Cores State Standards While Common Core State Standards (CCSS) improve test taking skills, the United States should remove them from their schools because parents are starting to blame teachers for failures, making classes larger due to failure increases, and they are starting to make children dislike school. Even though CCSS has been adopted by 46 states and the District of Columbia, many believe that it will have little to no effect on student achievement while increasing the deficit for the states. An average school day now consists of prepping for state tests instead of learning about history, reading novels, or participating in different extracurricular actives. CCSS is taking the fun out of learning and making school become a job for our children. Common Core State Standards were implemented to help students to be college and/or career ready regardless of what state they live in. As stated in the article Understanding and Implementing the Common Core Vocabulary Standards in Kindergarten “the College and Career Readiness (CCR) anchor standards, the ‘backbone’ of the CCSS, describe the literacy skills all students need when they graduate. The grade-specific standards describe the literacy skills that all students need when they finish each grade and that correspond to the CCR anchor standards (p.264).” Students should face...

The History of the United States Education Department The American Educational Department was created in 1867 to gather information on schools and teaching. This information was used to help the United States produce effective schools. For over 130 years the department of education continues to provide information on what works in education to teachers and policy makers. In 1946, The United States Department of Education (ED) began vocational training in high schools. These training programs consisted of agriculture, industrial arts, and home economics, and were focused on better preparing students for future careers.
