...MAADEN (Saudi metals company) Analyzing financial statements for last 5 years. In order to study the financial situation for MAADEN Saudi Arabian Mining Company, that founded in March 1997 and became a joint stock company in 2008 by offering (462.5 million) shares for public subscription, which represented -at that time- 50% of the shares in the company which brought a large turnout to subscribers in the IPO of the company because of its high prestige in the kingdom, and the confidence of the shareholders in the company due MAADEN’s long history in the mining sector. However, when we reviewed the last five years (2009-2013) and analyzed the company financial statements; We found that MAADEN had the ability to cover its short-term obligations between 2009 with current (6.54) till (1.09) in 2013, the number has decreased by years either due company started to use its liquidity into investments... Etc. Or -most likely- the company increased its loans and dept. When "MAADEN" surprised us with their recordings of net-loss of(12.82) in 2010, we could justified it by several reasons, including lower production and higher costs and less investments. I think that the most important reasons directed this net loss were: investments with (154.49) and expenses (304.39) that was a high number comparing with operating profit (89.66). Low liquidity of 2013 with gross profit (27%) and operating profit (12%) affecting the dept or short-term loans investments that increased...

...Becoming a Master Student Craig Harper GEN/200 June 13,2012 JOY LAGUNZAD KOUNS Becoming a Master Student I have read two very interesting books on becoming a Master student the 1st book would be, becoming a Master student 13th edition by (Dave Ellis). This book went into details as far as making the transitions. The author of this book also talked about taking steps to which will help you become a master student. The steps in which Dave Ellis was talking about, would be time, memory, reading, note taking, taking tests, critical thinking, communicating, diversity, money and then health. The 2nd reading is from Teaching in a Higher Education Vol. 15, No 1, February 2010, 1–13. (Wendy Jane McMillan). The reading drawls on self regulated learning. How students learn, contexts and methodology, understanding learning, cognitive strategies, metacognitive strategies, motivation. My understandings of both readings will be the preparations, of your studies; highlighting and underlining your readings and notes; Time management as far as your readings and taking time to understand your studies, and using your critical thinking skills along with communicating your thoughts. I feel that (Wendy McMillan) was a little bias with her article discussing dental students, and am self regulated learning; and the motivations of dental students. Even though I fill the concepts are the same as far as all students are concerned. You can use both philosophies to become a better student time management...

Few skills are more important than our ability to communicate our thoughts in writing, collaborate with our peers, and the sheer will to preserver through the most stressful of conditions. Even if those conditions were aggravated by lingering bad habits developed in undergrad course work. Communication By developing written communication skills that we will not only succeed in in our master’s courses but will carry over into our teaching careers (Russ, 2009). The element of communication is vital in our studies because it will demonstrate to our professors that we can follow instructions by adhering to rigorous school guidelines and develop lesson plans that will challenge our future students. Graduate level writing is held to a higher standard because the content must address the real life scenarios pertaining to current topics in our field and also follow the strict framework of APA rules. Unlike emails and letters where formatting is subjective and errors may go unnoticed, graduate students papers will need to be free...

...there a middle ground? In examining the article by Amy Chua she doesn’t let her children attend sleepovers or playdates. She believes children will not choose their extracurricular activities and practice in that activate will be hours long daily. Also, they will be the number one student in their class. As we turn to Hanna Roslyn’s article her children attend sleepovers and playdates. They have free play and they do different activities. For instance her children were involved in theatre and when practice was done they were allowed to participate with friends. It seems that the children in both families probably were happy children. Most people I know here in Washington State are in the middle of what these ladies believe in. Me for instance I believe that when my child plays a sport that excellence in mandatory. We will learn how to be one of the best players, we will master the sport, we will and discipline is mandatory. I feel the same way about school, we will be top of our class, and we will exceed expectations. But my children have playdates, sleepovers and have playdates. So I’m almost caught in the middle of what these articles speak about. We can master...

...What does it mean to be an officer in your lodge? Every year a handful of new Officers accept the job of being a officer in the lodge. Usually when a man begins in the lineup, he starts at one of the lower chairs such as Pursuivant or one of the Masters of ceremonies. This gives the man the opportunity to begin at a slower pace and to begin observing and learning all of the lodge work. The various lodge stations and places are setup in a order of increasing work. As you begin there are only a few small requirements and by the time you become Master you will be proficient in every part of the lodges workings. Unfortunately, the new officer often does not realize the amount of work and commitment that it takes to become a lodge officer. Sitting on the sidelines we can easily take for granted the work of the floor officers, especially when a lodge meeting runs smoothly and without error -- the work often looks effortless and may even be incorrectly assumed as being "easy". We must understand that there is much work and time involved in becoming an officer with many hours of work and preparation that goes in to the work we see on the floor. A well oiled lodge officer will not only know all of the ritual words but which direction to turn, and all of the queues he needs to know. Frequently we see new officers join the officer lineup and either drop out very shortly after or fail to make the advancement to the next chair for proficiency reasons. It is often assumed that...

...Henrico Country, Virginia, occurred” (Aptheker 219). The book Black Thunder: Gabriel’s Revolt written by Arna Bontemps is a historical novel that takes place in Virginia in 1800. It shows what the slaves at this time were experiencing and it is in their point of view, rather than the view from the slave masters, like many other novels are. The title, Black Thunder, has a double meaning to it. The very literal meaning of it is a night thunderstorm. The thunderstorm is a climactic turning point in the novel. It is what causes the rivers to flood and the slaves to bail on the revolt. They see the storm as a bad sign and do not want to move onward. The other meaning of the title is the sound of African drums. The titles of the five books, “Jacobins”, “Hand Me Down My Silver Trumpet”, “Mad Dogs”, “A Breathing Of The Common Wind”, and “Pale Evening…A Tall Slim Tree”, in the novel are also very significant. For example, Jacobins, which is the title of book one, were French men who were members of a radical political group who supported an egalitarian democracy. This first book involves many judgments, so I feel it is an appropriate title. The third book refers to what the masters and white people of power saw the slaves as, mad dogs. The last book title has to do with execution and this is the chapter where Gabriel and other slaves get hung. There are many important characters in this novel, but a few particularly stand out, Gabriel, Bundy, and Old Ben. Bundy and Old Ben could...

...Gee Summary In this work written by James Paul Gee, explaining that you as an individual are more subject to gaining discourse from primary discourse (parents, siblings, family), and reinforced by secondary discourse (social goods such as money, prestige, power.) Gee states that "language" can be a term that is misleading because it often suggests that it refers to "grammar" However, language and grammar are two different things. Language is written words whereas grammar is seen as fixing the written words to make the work flow better. The central terms to the text are primary and secondary discourses. Primary discourse are being a member of a primary socializing group (family, clan, peer group). Secondary discourses are the mastery of a particular discourse at a certain place and time, bringing with it the acquisition of "social goods"( Literacy, Discourse, and Linguistics, By James Paul Gee). The reason these themes are so important is that a primary discourse is one in which you learn from individuals that are close to you. After, you have mastered the primary discourse you take what you learned from primary discourse, then through further mastery from other individuals you begin to construct the world around you. Once you have mastered secondary discourse you are able to compete for money power, and prestige. The first concept of the text is that primary and secondary discourses are necessary for an individual to be able to compete in society. After, mastering these skills...

...When slaves were being sold they would inspect the buyers. A slave would size up their possible future master and determine based on their demeanor and appearance, whether or not he would be a good master. Once the slave got its intel on the buyer he or she would manipulate their physical traits to make the buyer more or less interested in the purchase. Some of the most well known slaves are; Harriet Tubman, George Carver, and Frederick Douglass. Harriet Tubman was notable and admired while she was alive, and even after she passed she was an American icon. Tubman was born into slavery and escaped in the north only to become the most famous conductor on the Underground Railroad. She also led hundreds of enslaved people to freedom along the route of the Underground Railroad that led to the free state of Pennsylvania. A survey was taken at the end of the 20th century naming her as one of the most famous civilians in American history before the Civil War (qtd. in H.T.B.). Not only does this show that she was a well known slave, it shows that she cared about her people and she would do anything to help them....
