...Conclusion……………………………………………………...15 References………………………………………………………………….16 2 Chapter 1... Overview ABSTRACT The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of computer-based mathematics curriculum on problem solving and the students’ attitudes toward computer-based mathematics. Participants will be my 3rd grade students who will receive 2 hours weekly computer-guided math instruction along with their regular Math Investigations. The computer program that will be used in this study is Edutest. Edutest is a computer program that focuses on problem solving strategies, geometry, number sense, logic patterns, measurement, probability, and word problems that are in line with the district standards. The students will work independently on the computer with computer-guided instruction. During the study, students will take a pre test and posttest as well as on-going daily instruction in mathematics along with teacher made assessment tests in mathematics to measure their achievement levels. I will also take an attitude survey to gauge their feeling about using computer mathematics. A survey was given pre study and post study. This information was used to assist me in planning and implementing computer-based curriculum and to see whether their attitudes towards computer math will have an effect on how well they implement the program. I chose to study math because I enjoy teaching mathematics....

...Gladwell begins his argument of how tradition, ethnical identity, and community systems of improvement and hardship take a part in individual success. It looks like that Gladwell is implying that Flom’s cultural identity had an effect on his success. Joe Flom is a Jewish, he is a product of his environment. He had talent, ambition, and intelligence however, it is not enough. To illustrate the importance of this point, Gladwell studies and observes the lives and livelihood of some Flom’s other Jewish colleagues. He then discovers that these Jewish experienced the same thing. They didn’t fit with the big companies, they encountered discrimination and judgement because of their faith, and they faced rejection, even though they were qualified. Though they were good lawyers, they were still not hired. It is true that “the problem with hostile takeovers is that they were hostile” (Gladwell 125) because people nowadays who takeover things are really harsh and...

...Homeschooling Charmeka Washington English 101 June 6, 2016 University of Phoenix Homeschooling Seems every day that there is something in the headlines about school and the education system of America. Whether it is test scores, teacher accountability, school safety, or classroom discipline, there is a lot of buzz going on with the educational system. As a result, many parents are choosing to homeschool their students. This choice is to have a better control of the educational experience that their child faces as they matriculate through their schooling years. One pro of homeschooling is that it allows a parent to regulate who has interactions with their child and to provide a safer environment. With school shootings, bullying, and other random acts of violence, parents want to provide a safe and nurturing place for their child. Homeschooling allows parents to choose opportunities for social interactions as well as the others who will be involved. Many homeschooling parents have formed alliances or groups where they meet weekly or monthly for field trips, sports, or learning experiences. Having this as an option greatly reduces the chance for unsafe or violent situations to take place. Each year, the accountability of teachers increases. This means that more testing is put in place, an inclusion of all students in the classrooms is pushed, and the teacher to student ratio rises. The effect of this is that teachers end up trying to meet the needs to anywhere from 18-30 students...
