...Danilo Pacris Espiritu Week 4- Assignment 1- Journal Entry Coming to an end towards week 4, I cannot believe that we are halfway through the term. I believe this week was all about looking back to the first week and reflecting on how we all came a long way and grown together as a class. Even as an online class where we don’t see each other face to face, I have learned so much from my other classmates through discussion boards when reading their posts as well as the feedback they provide me. With two weeks left for this term, I am still open to learning more from my classmates as well as the benefits of technology. In answering the discussion assignment this week about specific technology equipment that we could not live without, I was able to use the checklist we filled out from the first week. As mentioned from my last journal entry, we are always building on the prior week’s material in order to help prepare us for the current week. Therefore, I was able to use the checklist as a guide to help with this week’s discussion assignment. In reflecting on how much technology has evolved over the years growing up, I learned that living without it would be difficult. However, learning about techno-stress was an interesting topic where we often rely on technology on a daily basis which causes our stress level to rise. As a result, we get too involved or “plugged-in” with technology that it can be over stimulating for us which can lead to dangerous situations. As much...

...1. As a class, have students discuss what they know about the coordinate plane. List their responses on the whiteboard. Try to get responses from as many students as possible to encourage class discussion. 2. Give each student the coordinate plane worksheet. Each student is to glue the worksheet in their individual math journals. Students can work in pairs or independently as they fill out the worksheet with the information listed on the whiteboard using pencils or colored pencils. When students have finished filling out their worksheet with the information listed on the board, have them put their math journals and their pencils/colored pencils to the side of their computers. 3. Tell students they will be playing an educational game called Game Over Gopher to get them more comfortable with coordinate plane. Students will be working independently to maximize the time available for learning. 4. Use SMART Board to bring up computer screen in order to provide step by step instructions on how students can access Game Over Gopher. Have each student login to Game Over Gopher and then wait for instructions. Give an overview of Game Over Gopher to students. •...

...“The quiz is gonna start soon, y'all better be prepared”, said Mr. More. Mr. More was the coach for Jamie Hill High School’s football team. He had a cowboy accent, he wore a white t-shirt with suspenders, khakis, and of course cowboy looking boots and hat. Mr. More had been substituting for a math teacher, which the students wanted their original math teacher more (pun intended), than the teacher that they were having now, only because he was more astute. In the back right hand corner of the classroom sat Michael Korsport, he wore both Adidas sweatshirt (gray) and shoes (black and white), with black jeans. While Mr. More was passing out the quiz, Michael was passing notes around asking if anyone could help him on the quiz by telling their answers to him....

...12:30p m before math class. I had mixed emotions as I entered the school. My mind was wondering like should I go get help or don’t worry about it. As I turn around the corner heading towards the room I was feeling good about getting help. I sign in at the computer, and one of the tutor named Tony Williams, came over and ask “How may I help you”? Yes, I said, at first I was thinking that he must be smart by the way he looked with glasses and tight clothes on. As I sat down at the table, I notice it was not a lot of people in the center to get help. I ask him “Do a lot of people come get help? “ He replied, not right now because it is still early in the summer semester. “He asked what do I need help with?” I said math class, and pull my book out, my book bag, and showed him the chapter I need help understanding. He looked at the math and said no problem. I told him what type of problems I was having trouble with Integers. I have always had trouble with this part of math before. Tony told me by the time I leave today from the center I will be able to do this math. I laugh and said you are right because inside of me I have this good feeling. We began from the start of Chapter just going over the basic. He wanted to know if I knew the rules for adding and subtracting positive numbers. I showed him I can do it when they are the numbers have the same signs. But when they are different that is where I am having trouble at. For some strange reason a problem like this -3+4=1 would give...

Lesson #: Algebra1, Week 2 Context This lesson is an introduction to Algebra and its basic concepts. It introduces the familiar arithmetic operators of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division in the formal context of Algebra. This lesson includes the simplification of monomial and polynomial expressions using the arithmetic operators. Because the computational methods of variable quantities follows from the computational methods of numeric quantities, then it should follow from an understanding of basic mathematical terminology including the arithmetic operators, fractions, radicals, exponents, absolute value, etc., which will be practiced extensively prior to this lesson. Objectives • Students will be able to identify basic algebraic concepts including: terms, expressions, monomial, polynomial, variable, evaluate, factor, product, quotient, etc. • Students will be able to simplify algebraic expressions using the four arithmetic operators. • Students will be able to construct and simplify algebraic expressions from given parameters. • Students will be able to evaluate algebraic expressions. • Students...
