...2008, that fear drastically evolved into a trauma; Once I watched the movie called, ‘IT’, by Stephen King. From that day forward I found myself screaming and crying at the top of my lungs every time I seen a clown. Imagining that they were evil killers just like the intimidating clown of the movie. The trauma was so intense that when there was a fund raiser event held at my elementary school , Browning Pearce , the clown Ronald McDonald was there to meet and greet every child , including me, and once it was my turn to actually see him I fainted and collapsed onto the floor . As I came to my senses, my mother, Brenda forced me to watch the movie, ‘IT', including a bunch of other clown cartoons. I had to watch them for a whole week nonstop, even before I did my homework or went to church. Watching almost 168 hours of clowns on television; I finally realized that my horror of clowns had vanished into thin air. The next day I told my mother that the anxiety was gone, so she told me to get in the car and she drove us to a local McDonalds where Ronald McDonald was at. She had me meet him again, but, this time I didn't faint; I actually thought he was a funny cool clown. In conclusion, I became indomitable of clowns and with the help of my mother disciplining me to face my trepidation of them; the word FEAR had ceased to exist anymore within me. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | ...

.... How should McDonald's respond when ads promoting healthy lifestyles featuring Ronald McDonald are equated with Joe camel and cigarette ads? Should McDonalds's eliminate Ronald McDonald in its ads? Eliminating Ronald McDonald, who is the brand mascot, is not the solution. Rather many people connect with Ronald McDonald emotionally. According to a survey, Ronald is among top 25 mascots of all times. (Top survey, 2007) Ronald McDonalds can visit to schools for educating students about the importance of health and a healthy lifestyle. This will have the positive image of the mascot and further, Ronald McDonald could involve in charities where the mascot can be seen in giving charities to the unfortunate children. All the above would help in gaining the image of Ronald McDonalds back. McDonald should react to this issue in a calm and positive way as still many kids and parents are in love with the Ronald and would like to see their favorite whenever they visit to the outlet. By making people know that it is the perception which people will need to change. By imbibing healthier lifestyle is the solution, not protesting the mascot. 2. Discuss the merits of the law proposed by France that would require fast-food companies either to add a health message to commercials or to pay 1.5 % tax on their ad budget. Propose a strategy for McDonald's to pay the tax or add health message and defend your recommendation. The law would make the advertisers to add a health message in their...

...February 19, 2012 The McDonald Observatory The McDonald Observatory is located on Mount Locke in the Davis Mountains of West Texas. This observatory was constructed in the 1930s. The initial funding for construction came from Texan banker, William Johnson McDonald, who left provisions in his will that $800,000 be donated to the University of Texas at Austin in order to construct an astronomical observatory. This structure which is open to the public sees more than 60,000 visitors each year. Likewise, the observatory has been the center of attraction for many astronomers, and its numerous resources have also contributed to the discovery and continuous research of many astronomic phenomena. The McDonald Observatory is presently the property of the University of Texas at Austin and currently receives most of its funding from them. It operates four research telescopes. One of the most pronounced features attached to the observatory is Otto Struve Telescope. When this telescope was dedicated in 1939 it was then the second biggest telescope in the world. Two other telescope note mentioning are the Harlan J. Smith Telescope (named after once director of the observatory, Harlan J. Smith), and the Hobby-Eberly Telescope (known to be the fifth largest telescope in the world). The Hobby-Eberly is arguably the observatory’s most prized possession. This powerful telescope specializes in spectroscopy which enables astronomers to get a glimpse at stars, planets, and galaxies located...

...From the e-Activity, explain the most important information you would require on which to base sound economic judgments. Explain your rationale. Inflation happens when the government increases the amount of money circulating in society while the amount of goods in circulation is less. When occurs, the dollar value goes down and prices generally rise in order to compensate loses (The Money Alert). Inflation may cause individuals to spend less therefore, lowering the economy. Some people may try to borrow money through loans, which is increasingly difficult during inflation periods. Banks do not like to give out money during inflation periods because the money they receive back may not be worth the same amount (The Money Alert). In today’s society, inflation has been a huge problem. Important information one would require to make sound economic judgment is if you are an investor, maybe consider inflation protection for your portfolios. If you do not invest, the best thing to do is to be prepared for times when prices may become inflated. More money may be spent on products, but the money will be available if you have enough money saved. Assess the various forms of organizing and processing information to determine which is the most difficult to get correct. Explain your rationale. There are different ways in which people organize and process information. It is usually done by using our five senses and is stored into our memories. Those memories then become our experiences...

...Dear Ms Corbett, I note that your ethos says 'Granton pupils are encouraged to be thoughtful and responsible young people with high self-esteem and with the motivation, skills and knowledge to succeed in life.' I believe that I will be able to help these young people by being at the same level as them so that I can understand them and find ways of encouraging them to have high self–esteem and believe in themselves that they will succeed in education. I will be able to include this in any work that I undertake with the young pupils that attend your school, particularly as I have the ability to listen and empower people. Allowing young people to get their voices heard is a great tool in raising their confidence. I believe that I have the ability to make changes in society by using personal experiences and my educational knowledge to relate to those who I work with. I am aware in order to have a successful career within the health & social care sector I need to build my skills within a professional setting and Granton is the right profession because of how diverse it is. This is vital within health and social care as there are people from different ethnic backgrounds and culture, therefore it is really important for me to always be in an environment where diversity is valued and promoted. Working with Granton will enable me to develop skills that will benefit me in my career, as well as passing my course. This experience will continue to make me more passionate in making...

Why or why not?" ➢ Lien Ho: Can we start our learning team's discussion with my suggested topic: "Should we work on holidays in order to get double or triple salary? Why or why not?" ➢ Sean More: Thank you for your suggestion. I think this is a widely versed topic and could be taken into consideration for serious debate. Many businesses today face this challenge due to consumer demands surrounding holidays. This is also a topic of interest to many employees across the nation. ➢ Lien Ho: I agreed with your point of views on the topic "Should we work on holidays in order to get double or triple pay". You are absolute right when saying that businesses today face this challenge due to consumer demands on holidays across the nation. Beside that big issue which you already mention on this topic, I also have some points need to share as a working mommy. I understand the feeling of hard working parents on these special days while our lovely kids and other members in our family keep asking: "Why don't you spend time with us on this wonderful days?", "Will you go home early because I will count on every minutes until you come back home?" ... My heard is always broken badly whenever I heard the kind of such questions. ➢ Katie: I believe the topic of "Should we work on holidays in order get double or triple pay" has some valid discussion points. ...Comprehensive Report on Global Staffing Strategies Comprehensive Report on Global Staffing Strategies Mergers and acquisitions are increasingly being used by firms to strengthen and maintain their position in the market place. They are seen by many as a relatively fast and efficient way to expand into new markets and incorporate new technologies. Yet their success is by no means assured. To the contrary, a majority fall short of their stated goals and objectives. While some failure can be explained by financial and market factors, a substantial number can be traced to neglected human resource issues and activities (Schuler & Jackson p.1). As the Director of Human Resources for Clearly Heard, a telecommunications company it has been deemed necessary for me to revise the current staffing strategy in order to acquire Scene and Sound, another telecommunications company in Germany. The CEO has required that I prepare a comprehensive staffing strategy for the new expansion in order to prepare for a strategic audit of the HR systems of Scene and Sound. In order to get a complete understanding of the HR system I will also answer the following questions: What HR challenges may arise as a result of this acquisition? What unique cultural and regulatory factors (e.g. EEOC) need to be considered? How will they impact organizational effectiveness? What recruitment and selection practices will be used in staffing Scene and Sound? What mix of expatriates and internationals are expected...

...a great deal of sexual appeal. However, the least prerogative commercial is the one that was most intellectual and heart hitting. The Ronald McDonald House Charity Corporation commercial stated that “When families stay closer, Children heal faster.” The skit in this commercial provided great imagery and a scenario that was actually true, making this commercial very effective. Thanks to this charity, more children are capable of healing faster and reaching better health. The pathos of this commercial was heavily illustrated throughout the entire commercial, starting with the big, bright smiles of the mature individuals. ...Motivational Theories at McDonald's Report Executive Summary The main focus of our conducted research was to find the relationship between employees and management in respect to motivation at McDonalds. From our online study of employee behavior and management interview we found that there was a potential gap in motivation. This gap was a detachment between management and employees. Employees’ point of view was different from that of the manager, in which they often required an instrumentality – a reward or a bonus to improve an individual’s performance. Most employees didn’t take working at McDonalds as their future occupation for various reasons. Our study found that the motivation of employees of McDonalds were low due to minimum wages, poor relationship with manager, lack of input motivation, terrible job tasks, and deficient quality of overall performance. They eventually led employees to believe working at McDonalds wasn’t worth it. So, three main issues struck as a result; insufficient training supply, high responsibility with low wage increase and too high expectation from senior management. They needed to improve this gap or continue to see lack of effort from their employees. Money was the key motivation that pushed employees to work productively. In order for employees to do their job efficiently they were to be paid adequately or otherwise be held back from doing their job. So Maslow’s theory was used to analyze this aspect in which every individual had to...
