The Disney Movie McFarland, USA was released on February 20, 2015. Jim White, track coach is a newcomer to a mainly Latino high school in McFarland, USA. Coach White and his new students find that they are very different and have much to learn about one another. Although, things begin to change when Coach realizes the boys' extraordinary running talents. More than just physical skill drives the teens to thrive. Their incredibly strong family ties, unbelievable work ethic and commitment to their team are all reasons why their team had amazing success in winning the state championship. Many lessons were learned from the movie McFarland, USA, believe in yourself, not everything has to happen right at this moment, and when the going gets rough, …show more content…
This lesson related to Coach White. Coach White didn’t enjoy the town, the people, or his job in McFarland at first. Coach White had to be patient. Not everything comes perfect, right at the moment. He learned that he couldn’t rush it because with time it would come. Coach White and his family both grew to love McFarland with time. “Nowhere I have lived has ever felt this much like home,” was a quote said by White’s family in the movie.
Lastly, McFarland, USA taught us that when the going gets rough, keep going! Not only does this lesson relate to the movie, it also relates to the whole United States. An achievement feels that much more important when you know you did your best. Don’t give up and don’t quit! Perseverance is so important. Knowing that you did it overrides all of the obstacles that were thrown your way. No matter how hard something gets, you can’t achieve it if you don’t try!
McFarland, USA taught many valuable lessons. It is important to believe in yourself, be patient, and never give up! The movie relates to many situations in our real life. Always try your hardest, you can’t reach your goal unless you

...USSR and the USA. After World War II, both countries began to distrust each other, as they knew the amount of power each country had in terms of nuclear weapons. Not only did they distrust each other, but they lacked a mutual understanding of each other’s culture. The USA believed in capitalism and the USSR believed in communism. This lack of mutual understanding caused mass paranoia within America as they feared that communists would infiltrate their society. This hysteria was known as the Red Scare which lead to “a range of actions that had a profound and enduring effect on U.S. government and society.” (Red Scare, 2013). During World War II “moviegoers learned to appreciate cinema for what it was: a powerful delivery system of ideology” (Doherty, 2003, p. 19) and after World War II “Soviet Communism and American Democracy, found its domestic expression in fierce debates over the subversive influence of the popular media.” (Doherty, 2003, p. 21). Hollywood was scrutinized first for allegedly using the film industry to influence the public about communism. The House of Un-American Activities Committee (HUAC) was formed in 1938, and it’s investigations were “frequently focused on exposing communists working inside the federal government or subversive elements working in the Hollywood film industry” (Red Scare, 2013).
