This week was a difficult one for me, a lot of new concepts and a lot of information was thrown at me but with the media tools I used this week it made it a little easier to get through this week and hopefully the next couple of weeks. One media that helped me in this week’s assignments was the direct chat section on the schools web page. Being able to be in communications with other students helped me understand some sections of this week that I did not understand. It also allowed me to bounce ideas and calibrate on this week’s assignment. Using the discussion board is great but being able to instantly communicate with our team allows us to work better with each other. Another media that helped me big time as the E-book, using the eBook from book shelf makes it easier to navigate back and forth between section and the highlighting section helps keep track of things that I might have to go back and read again or to highlight important section that I think will be needed. I believe this will come in handy later on down the line when it comes time to take the final. These two media tools where very useful this week as this week for some reason felt a little more challenging to me, being able to reach out to team members and have parts that where a little fuzzy helped somewhat clarify certain sections of the chapter. One last media tool or study tool that was very important to my self was the UOF app, I am not always able to be in front of my PC so being able to get on this app from my tablet or my phone makes it a life saver. This app allows me to stay up to date with discussions and assignment due date’s as well as my grades. With the continued use of these and other media I hope to continue to make some pregress and be able to grasp all the concepts that we are learning.

...How to Develop Psychic Abilities Some people believe we all have psychic abilities. Some of us may have more natural abilities than others, the same way that some of us seem inclined towards music or mathematics. But just like any other skill, psychic abilities can be trained and enhanced. The following exercise can help to increase your natural psychic skills. Meditate. Experiment with various techniques until you find one that feels right for you. Keep a healthy diet. Remember, there is no right way or wrong way to perform meditation. It is only important that you are able to relax and focus your mind. If you continue the practice of meditation for any length of time, you will begin to notice the existence of your own spiritual energy. It is the connection to your spiritual self which provides intuitive information. Strengthening the connection to your spiritual self will result in an increase of your psychic abilities Meditation is most important for psychic abilities. It can help you in many walks of life-for instance, if your child has trouble reading teach him to meditate and they often get better. It may seem odd but it helps a lot. Try to be more aware of your surroundings. Upon waking in the morning, make an effort to lie still for a few minutes without opening your eyes. Try to notice as many sounds, textures and smells as possible before you decide to open your eyes. This exercise, if carried out for several weeks, can greatly help to increase your levels of...

...Psychology, the scientific study of behavior and the mind. This definition contains three elements. The first is that psychology is a scientific enterprise that obtains knowledge through systematic and objective methods of observation and experimentation. Second is that psychologists study behavior, which refers to any action or reaction that can be measured or observed—such as the blink of an eye, an increase in heart rate, or the unruly violence that often erupts in a mob. Third is that psychologists study the mind, which refers to both conscious and unconscious mental states. These states cannot actually be seen, only inferred from observable behavior. Many people think of psychologists as individuals who dispense advice, analyze personality, and help those who are troubled or mentally ill. But psychology is far more than the treatment of personal problems. Psychologists strive to understand the mysteries of human nature—why people think, feel, and act as they do. Some psychologists also study animal behavior, using their findings to determine laws of behavior that apply to all organisms and to formulate theories about how humans behave and think. With its broad scope, psychology investigates an enormous range of phenomena: learning and memory, sensation and perception, motivation and emotion, thinking and language, personality and social behavior, intelligence, infancy and child development, mental illness, and much more. Furthermore, psychologists examine these topics...

Am I Talking to Me

...Am I Talking to Me? By Izzy Gesell The Power of Internal Dialogue to Help or Hinder Our Success Good communication skills are high on everyone's list of relationship "must-haves." Successful communication can be described as the transmission of thought, feeling or action so that is satisfactorily understood. Usually, the skills referred to are of the interpersonal variety. I think it's just as important to understand your internal communication, referred to as your self-talk, Self-talk is defined as the ongoing dialogue we have with ourselves that determines our behavior and it turns out we talk to ourselves all the time. This self-talk both reflects and creates our emotional states so when the self-talk is negative we become more stressed, less confident and more concerned with what other people think. We often tend to believe our self-talk is real and objective, not always aware that it comes from a feeling or belief we have. The good news is that we can transform our life experiences by learning how to defuse the power of negative self-talk. This entry will look at what self talk is, how it works and describe 5 kinds of negative self-talk. Part 2 will describe 5 additional kinds of negative self talk and offer a way to turn negative self talk around into positive action. HOW SELF-TALK WORKS In the memorable subtitle scene of the movie "Annie Hall." Woody Allen ("Alvy" and Diane Keaton ("Annie") are on the balcony off Annie's apartment. With a cityscape in the background...

Sleena Quotes

...“Even if I hadn’t got the acid in my eyes-on my face (by accident: Rose-Ann had meant to ht Harry to be hurt by the acid- hit me, but Harry, who was, as I said, unexpected). Even if I hadn’t got the acid in my eyes, I’d never have seen my father again” (1). In the novel Sleena was mentioning how she got blind by accident. She sees what her mother had done to be a accident. Her tone towards this isn’t too upset as to be expected . I thought her tone would be more upset that she is upset because it is pretty hard when you’re mother had caused it. I think this shows how strong she is since she is past that matter. “I was excited, so happy. For the first time in my life of eighteen years, someone had talked, laughed, helped me. I was trembling for happiness” (26). In the novel Sleena was at the park where she met a man named Gordon. They began to chat and got comfortable in each other’s company. He left to get themselves both some food and Sleena was in thinking about how happy she is. Sleena’s voice is expressing how happy she is that she got to meet Gordon. I think it was very interesting how happy she got just because he began speaking to her. “No one, not even Mr.Faber had ever, I’m sured cared whether I drank at all, let alone what I cared to drink. It was fabulous. I would stuck my nail into my hand it hurt I was not dreaming”...

Dave Matthews Band

...The Dave Matthews Band When I think of The Dave Matthews Band, I also think of their jazzy pop rock music that has helped them become a musical sensation. The band consists of jazz and classical musicians and of course, Dave Matthews. Their music and songs are very unique and have not been heard before the band came about. They have touched millions of people’s hearts, especially mine. The fact that they sing about real situations and real issues that are going on the world today is what makes them my favorite band. Whether I am happy, sad, or mad, The Dave Matthews Band’s album “Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King” always lifts my spirits and puts me in a better mood; their songs are inspirational. One of the songs that touch me the most is called “Funny the Way It Is”. This song is about the good and bad things going on in the world. The point being made is that even though many wonderful things are happening, bad things are occurring at the exact same time. “Funny the way it is, if you think about it/ One kid walks 10 miles to school, another's dropping out/ Funny the way it is, not right or wrong/ On a soldier's last breath, his baby's being born/ Funny the way it is, not right or wrong/ Somebody's broken heart become your favorite song/ Funny the way it is, if you think about it/ One kid walks 10 miles to school, another's dropping out” Not only does it discuss the fine times and poor times in life, but also how people take the privileges they have for granted. While kids...

I Am Legend

...I am legend “I am Legend” is a sci-fi movie based on a brilliant military scientist, Robert Neville, whom becomes the last man on earth. He becomes the last man on earth because of a man-made untreatable virus which turns people into flesh eating zombies. He is immune to the virus and the only one who can save humanity. He spends several years trying to control the virus and also broadcasting radio signals for any other survivors. The Zombies creep around in the shadows, observing the scientist’s every move until he makes a fatal mistake. I liked this movie because the effectiveness and dialogue of it were accurate and I didn’t get lost watching all the scenes. The special effects and background coincided with what was going on throughout the movie and also appeared to be realistic. The performance of the main character, Will Smith, was phenomenal and I also felt as if I was in his shoes. Several aspects during certain scenes made the movie stand out from the thousands of movies I’ve watched. When Neville was driving around New York City with his dog Sam in a 2009 ford mustang GT500, the roar of the engine and the watchful eye of his dog following the deers symbolized modern hunting. After they got out on foot and began chasing the wild animals into the growing forest and the lions appeared out of the fields to take Neville’s priced deer gave me the idea that earth was reverting back into prehistoric times. Finally, when he sacrificed his life after he realized...

What Does Money Oh Money Mean In King Lear

...George even says in act two “Ma, I don’t want to grow old. Why’s everybody pushing me so?” (Wilder Act 2). He loves being a kid and playing baseball for school, but he doesn’t realize that everyone has to grow up at one point. The people in this play and in real life do not truly understand how much they take their life for granted and do not understand that. Emily says in act three in the graveyard “Do human beings ever realize life while they live it?—every, every minute?” (Wilder Act 3) Thornton Wilder’s interpretation of the American Dream is that people need to be accepted, loved, appreciated, and valued by other people before they can achieve the American dream. King Lear Comparative Essay

...relates to the play because comparing the themes with the characters expresses the true intentions of Shakespeare. The themes that appear in both the essay King Lear’s Folly and the actual play is power of who holds it, nature and the values of what it represents, and parallels created with how the characters are contrasted. The first theme in the novel is power who has it, how one defines it, and how it plays into King Lear. As in the opening act Lear creates a love test to justify giving Cordelia a large share of his kingdom as she is his favorite. Instead of her answer resulting in flattery and gushing confessions of love like her elder sister’s, Cordelia's reply is tempered, honest, and reasonable- “ Unhappy that I am, I cannot heave My heart into my mouth: I love your majesty According to my bond; nor more nor less”. With this he banishes her and puts his two eldest in charge and with the power Goneril and Regan begin to treat their father poorly, with this look at power should also come an investigation of age and gender into the play. Since Edmund seduces both of the eldest sisters then Lear is banished into a storm, this (as King Lear’s Folly states) threatened the stability of the social structure. There is the treatment of the elderly and placement of women in Shakespeare’s time compared to society today. Considering that Edmund, Regan, and Goneril treated their fathers with such hostility as Edmund’s father was ashamed of him as a bastard and Cordelia was Lear’s...

Green Eggs And Jam Analysis

...This is important because in Green Eggs and Ham, the main characters are Sam and an un-named character. This distinction shows two critical points, first that the events of Green Eggs and Jam most likely take place after the events of Green Eggs and Ham as opposed to being an alternate of the same story; Secondly it shows that Sam has an overly elevated value of self importance because the opposing character in the original version was not considered important enough to be given or referred to by a name. This is further illustrated in the next few seconds of Green Eggs and Jam in which he repeats “I am Sam.” “‘Sam I am.’ he concluded”, implying that his name carries great weight and the world should know who he is. The extreme closeups and the uptilted angle with the wind blowing in Sam’s hair illustrate Sam’s self righteousness and the comical inflation of importance. Starting the video out by glorifying Sam like that helps to convey how Sam sees himself, and in fact the first few seconds are built specifically to reveal the inner workings of Sam’s mind and his self centered nature. The start to Gastrow’s video sets the scene to purpose that Green Eggs and Ham was written biasedly towards Sam’s self righteous perspective, and after the events of that book he seeks to set the record...
