...The objectives of the study can be summarized as follows: * Contribute to the emerging literature on pricing and consumption in examining and defining the key perceived values. * Interpret and expand existing consumer behavior models. * Generate a framework to help marketers to build and monitor the pricing of products. * Stimulate further research on pricing and customer satisfaction. Problem Statement How can mangers use various pricing strategies to build stable, long-term relationships with their customers? Pricing has a significant and broad impact on how consumers view and use products, However, it is more difficult to judge the effects that pricing has on product consumption. The relationship between pricing and consumption lies at the core of customer strategy. The extent to which a customer uses a product during a certain time period often determines whether he or she will buy a product again. So pricing tactics that encourage people to use the products they have paid for help companies building long-term relationships with customers. The link between pricing and consumption is clear, people are more likely to consume a product when they are aware of its cost. But for many executives, the idea that they should draw the consumer’s...

...Service QualityLEARNING OBJECTIVESAfter completing this chapter, you should be able to: 1. Describe and illustrate the five dimensions of service quality. 2. Use the service quality gap model to diagnose quality problems for a service firm. 3. Describe how the SERVQUAL survey instrument is used to measure gaps in a service firm's quality. 4. Illustrate how Taguchi methods and poka-yoke methods are applied to quality design in services. 5. Construct a "house of quality" as part of a quality function deployment project. 6. Construct a statistical process control chart for service operation. 7. Use a fishbone chart in a cause-and-effect analysis. 8. Compare and contrast the quality program features espoused by Philip Crosby and W. Edward Deming. 9. Describe the features of an unconditional service guarantee and its managerial benefits.10. Discuss the concept of a service recovery.Service "with a smile" used to be enough to satisfy most customers. Today, however, some service firms differentiate themselves in the marketplace by offering a "service guarantee." Unlike a product warranty, which promises to repair or replace the faulty item, service guarantees typically offer the dis satisfied customer a refund, discount, or free service. Take, for example, the First Interstate Bank of California. After interviewing its customers, the bank management discovered that they were annoyed by a number of recurring problems, such as inaccurate statements and broken automatic teller machines...

What is strategy? Harvard Business Review 74 Ž6., 61–78.x claims that a proper link between strategy and manufacturing operations is a key to developing sustainable competitive advantage. To be successful in this globally competitive, rapidly changing environment, organizations must formulate strategic plans that are consistent with their investment in and use of manufacturing technology. This study proposes that organizations that invest in advanced manufacturing technology and develop mechanisms for manufacturing managers to participate in strategy formulation will have improved competitive capabilities and better performance than firms that do not. Using the result from a large-sample survey, this study develops valid and reliable measures of advanced manufacturing technology and manufacturing managers’ participation in strategy formulation as well as the competitive capabilities of a firm. Linear structural equation analysis ŽLISREL. results show that the relationships between a firm’s practices in these two areas and its competitive capabilities are found...

...Business Research Methods Project On Conjoint Analysis Identifying Key Product Attributes & Product Designing of Mobile Phones Abstract This paper intends to explore consumer preferences for Mobile phones attributes, to determine the optimal combination for consumers, and to provide manufacturers a reference for their marketing strategies. In this study, consumers were divided into several demographics (age, gender, occupation) and individual preferences for various mobile phone attributes were compared. Consumers showed significant demographical difference in their preferences over the combination of mobile phones attributes. The various combination of mobile phone attributes were grouped together. Subjects were asked to rank the 22 product profiles (Pair1 to Pair22) from the most to the least preferred. The variables Pref1 through Pref7 contain the IDs of the associated product profiles, that is, the card IDs. Subject 1, for example, liked pair13 most of all, so PREF1 has the value 13. Analysis of the data is a task that requires the use of command syntax—specifically, the CONJOINT command. The necessary command syntax has been provided in the file conjoint.sps. Literature Review N. Soutar et al. (2008), the study aims to examine its relevance in exploring the trade-offs followers make about leaders. The aim was to have an integrated understanding of leadership. The leaders were assessed on the eight leader attributes obtained from three focus groups...

...facing a different reality, with its declining sales and less market share, forcing research companies (Gartner, Canalys, etc.) to change their expectations. This situation leads us to another important and often ignored perspective of innovation challenges, i.e. consumers' resistance; as consumers' adoption and purchase decision makes a significant difference in the success of innovative products. Problem: Innovation has been called as a key factor for companies to survive and grow in the long run, especially in the dynamic & complex markets and uncertain economic circumstances. Despite the successful outcome of innovations, inhibition or delay in the diffusion of innovation may translate this success into market failure, where resistance has been called as one of the main reasons for inhibiting or delaying the innovation diffusion . Consumers adoption of innovation depend upon several factors: the most important of which are specified as consumers’ characteristics (psychological characteristics of consumers; how they view the innovativeness with respect to that particular product), and the innovation characteristics (outcome and effects of innovation). Past research on innovation &...
