1.2 Pipe fittings:
Fittings are feigned pieces of pipe that are used to make changes of direction, branch from a main pipe or make a reduction in line size such as 90 elbows, 45 elbow, tee, reducers and weld cap.
1.3 Flange Basics:
1.3.1 Rating flanges: Rating means the maximum pressure allowed by pressure piping code for the specific temperature at which the flange will be operating and it is called pound rating. There are many flanges ratings such as 300#, 400#, 600#, 900# and 1500#. Flange type, size and rating are selected depending on pipe size, temperature of commodity.
1.3.2Flange facings: the mating surface of flange, nozzle or valve is called the face. This face helps to prevent the leakage from the pipe
a) Flat face flange: is commonly found in 150# and 300# ratings.
b) Raised face flange: the most common face type in use, it is available in all pound ratings and it needs a gasket to fit with pipe.
c) Ring type joint:it has a ring for connection so it does not need a gasket, it is also available in all pound …show more content…
Isometric drawing is developed using the three primary dimensions of an object: height, width, and depth. We noticed from the project that the ISO is a detail combination of facility plot plan and piping plan. Fig3 is an example of ISO drawing.

2.1.4 Process and instrumentation diagram (P&ID): In our center P&ID is done by process department then they send it to our department Piping department.P&ID is used by the piping department to develop and lay out the plot plan. Piping engineers are developing the plot plan, the arrangement of the equipment in the facility reflects, in part, the logical sequence of flow depicted on the flow diagram. Flow diagrams describe in a schematic drawing format the flow of fluids and gases through a unit or an entire plant. The flow diagram provides the piping designerwith an overall view of the operation of a facility. Fig4 is an example of P&ID. Figure 9: P&ID

Spiritual and Educational Needs Satisfaction of Mechanical Engineering Students of Lyceum of the Philippines University

...Literature INTRODUCTION: Every day you come in contact with many machines. There’s the clock radio that wakes you up, and the car, bus, or bike you take to school. You use calculators, computers, stereos, and phones throughout the day. Finally, you come home and use the microwave, stove, refrigerator, and electric can opener as you help with dinner. Our lives are a lot easier today, thanks to the mechanical engineers who imagined and built these tools. In a world where we depend on machines more than ever before, mechanical engineers keep things running. Mechanical Engineering is one of the broadest professions. The women and men in the mechanical engineering profession work in almost every industry, in private practice, in government, in medicine, in law, and in universities. Mechanical engineers touch almost every aspect of technology. They create machines, products and technological systems that benefit society. Their work can take them around the world - anywhere there are machines, there are mechanical engineers. The above statements prove that mechanical engineering is not an easy profession. This is the reason why we should consider the spiritual and educational needs. Spirituality means different things to different people. Some persons have religious needs. Spirituality can refer to an ultimate or an alleged immaterial reality an inner path enabling a person to discover the essence of his/her being; or the “deepest values and meanings by which people live.”...

My Career In Mechanical Engineering

...My interest for mechanical engineering unraveled in my childhood days when I broke open my favorite remote controlled car, since I was so desperate to know how things worked, but undermined the repercussions that I might not play with it again. That became the wind that set my voyage for the challenging journey of learning about machines, cars and new things. With this in mind, I started studying for engineering entrance examinations. My efforts bore fruits when I was selected as one of the 0.3% from over 150,000 students across India in one of the most competitive entrance examinations in India –Vellore Institute of Technology Engineering Entrance Examination(VITEEE) to pursue their most prestigious ABET, USA accredited program in mechanical...

...Review of Related Literature (Appendix C) Gender Differences Gender differences have become on the hotlist of critical issues around the world. Hausmann, Tyson, & Zahidi (2009) reported that there is no country in the world that has yet reached equality between women and men in different critical areas such economic participation or education. It is well accepted that there are no differences in the general intelligence or basic cognition between males and females, the issue is whether each category is innately better at certain, very specific, skills.  The cognitive differences that have been put forward include men being slightly better than women at tasks that involve the mental spatial rotation of an object, spatial perception and visualization, and math problem solving.  Women seem to score slightly better on tasks that involve visual memory, word and landmark recall and math calculations (Kimura, Doreen, 2002, Pinker, Spelke, 2005, Newcomb, Nora et. al., 2005).  “It is important to remember, when we sees assertions such as these, that these are general trends and that not every individual is held to them.  Although both men and women as populations tend to do better at certain tasks, the margin of difference is quite small”(K. Smythe, 2008)   Male “In mathematics, boys and girls have similar results at the fourth and eighth school years in most countries. Boys' advantage emerges in the later school years and is especially noticeable among students who attend the...

...Personal Statement Graduate Application for Admission to Master in Computer Science Program in New York University, Tandon School of Engineering. Zhenbo Zhang My major passions are in science, mathematics and logical thinking, and I believe that Computer Science must be the inventive fusion of these disciplines. My original interests in the fields of Computer Science date back to my years in elementary school, I took the first Computer Science class in LOGO programming language. When the movements of the turtle, an on-screen “cursor”, formed a rather simple line graph as my commands instructed, it was easily one of the most memorable moments on record as I felt an unprecedented sense of accomplishment. Mechanical Properties of Ps Injected Parts Under Surface-Active Substances

...Mechanical properties of PS injected parts under surface-active substances Journal: Manuscript ID: Division or Special Interest Group: Presentation Preference: Paper Type: Date Submitted by the Author: Complete List of Authors: Page 1 of 5 MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF PS INJECTED PARTS UNDER SURFACEACTIVE SUBSTANCES (1) The main objective of this work was to develop the influence of surface-active substances in the mechanical properties of injected plastic parts in presence of cracks, a tension test and a constant load. The material used was Polystyrene and the surface-active substances were olive oil and corporal sweat. This study was conducted because it was observed that the surface-active substances affects the mechanical properties of the resin as well as the presence of cracks, and actually is not reported any methodology for conducting this study. Experimental Part For this study, there were injected 110.5*85.5*1 mm plates in a REED-Prentice 100 TE (Clamp Force = 100 ton) injection machine with an injection mold with two similar cavities, but with a different located entrance. The used material was a Polystyrene PS-2820 from Estirenos del Zulia (Table 1). In table 2 are showed the used optimal process conditions. Notches were mechanized in each plate with a saw. The normalized tensile test specimens were cut with a milling machine. It was used a Galdabini 2500 universal test machine to make mechanical tests, and a Starrett Sigma VB300 stereoscopic magnifying...
