...Name: Smit Khant Major: M.Sc Mechatronics STATEMENT OF PURPOSE “Education is a tool that puts one on a fast track to acquiring knowledge and personality that sets one apart from the crowd. It is one bottom less hole; no matter how much one pours himself into it, he thirsts for more.” This is the motto of my life. Technology is advancing and expanding to unimaginable possibilities, which can connect as well as access information more than ever before. Still there is much in this field that we are yet to discover. That is the principle reason I am applying to the M.Sc Mechatronics program at your esteemed university. Technology is driven by need. Inventors often have an uncanny skill of resolving situations with their innovations. But what separates engineers from mere innovators is the ability to recognize the importance of sustainable technological solutions for the future. My ability to be proactive in this matter makes me stand apart. Ever since my school days, I’ve been interested in the theoretical frameworks in Mathematics and Sciences, which drive the physical world. I had received admirable grades in my 10th and 12th schooling. Engineering, at this point of time, seemed as a natural extrapolation of my abilities and interests. The amazing task of moving the world is the monopoly of machines, so I made Mechatronics engineering as my preference. My undergraduate education at U.V.P. College of Engineering, Ganpat University has provided a thorough exposure to the various...

...Chapter 3 Introduction to Microcontrollers 3.1 Just a Start Up A microcontroller (also MCU or ¥ìC) is a computer-on-a-chip. It is a type of micro-computer element that emphasizing high integration, low power consumption, self-sufficiency and cost-effectiveness, in contrast to a general-purpose microprocessor. In addition to the usual arithmetic and logic elements of a general purpose microprocessor, the microcontroller typically integrates additional elements such as read-write memory for data storage, read-only memory, such as flash memory for code storage and permanent data storage memory, peripheral devices, and input/output interfaces. Microcontrollers often operate at very low speed compared to modern day microprocessors, but this is adequate for many typical applications. They consume relatively little power (milliwatts), and will generally have the ability to sleep while waiting for an interesting peripheral event such as a button press to wake them up again to do something. Power consumption while sleeping may be just nanowatts, making them ideal for low power and long lasting battery applications. Microcontrollers are frequently used in automatically controlled products and devices, such as automobile engine control systems, remote controls, office machines, appliances, power tools, and toys. By reducing the size, cost, and power consumption compared to a design using a separate microprocessor, memory, and input/output devices, microcontrollers make it...

...Poppet or check shut off valves Pressure relief valve simulation Function Leak free sealing of flow in one direction. Allows flow in only one direction. Provides positive back pressure on a system when fitted with a spring. Also used as simple low pressure relief valves. Setting Fixed spring to control the opening or cracking pressure Fit valves without springs vertically Variations Pilot operated – can be opened by pilot pressure to allow flow back through valves. Can be used as leak free directional valves. Typically for low flow, high pressure situations or for very high flows where directional valves are expensive or not suitable. Directional control valves Function Stops/starts flow or directs flow into A or B service lines. Variations Manual or electrical operation. Spool centre positions vary depending on free flow path or pressure venting. Pilot or direct operated valves. Low flows generally direct acting but large flows require pilot operation. Pressure relief valves Function Limits the maximum pressure in a circuit. Setting Generally set 15 bar above the working pressure of system. Back pressure - Changes in pilot drain or backpressure will generally be added to the set pressure; making a sequence valve. Variations Direct acting - quick response, low flow, leak free. Pilot operated - high flow, internal or external leakage. Unloading valve - e.g. relief valve that switches to minimum pressure for start up. Flow control or throttle valves ...

...Nintendo Wii Marketing Plan for Marketing Management Brian Moats 2/13/2008 Executive Summary This marketing plan is looking at Nintendo's Wii. This innovative hardware has really changed the way people, young and old, look at gaming. Considering the Wii has only been out a year and four months, this is a extraordinary feat. Nintendo has been keeping gaming alive since 1985 with the release of the original Nintendo (Famicom in Japan) and still keeps the true spirit of gaming alive today. For thoughts from the President of Nintendo, look at pages 4-5 of the 2006 Nintendo Annual Report. 2 Contents Situation Analysis ........................................................................................................................... 4 Internal Environment .................................................................................................................. 4 Key Executive ......................................................................................................................... 4 Board of Directors................................................................................................................... 4 Employees ............................................................................................................................... 4 External Environment ................................................................................................................. 4 Customers ........................................

...Summary This report was aimed to get a better grasp/understanding of multiple measuring devices that are ideal in measuring current, voltage, and resistance. For this lab in particular, we used the Digital Multimeter, Function Generator, and a Oscilloscope to measure the variations of the components we made on the given breadboard. So essentially, after we made the circuit as instructed, we tested the in’s and out’s to calculate the resistance, and currents across the board. Before the board was made, we had to measure the resistors that were giving to us to verify its resistance. After all calculations were done, we took note on actual and theoretical values implemented by the circuit. Most of the lab consisted of measuring specific values with the various machines in the lab. After we calculated the resistance and currents that passed through the circuit we built, we moved forward with the lab, inevitably, giving us the chance to see how sinusoids can be formed, altered, and measured on the Oscilloscope. While completing the lab, we realized the Oscilloscope was quite useful in verifying sinusoids and their measurements while playing with the voltage and etc. Honestly, all the equipment in the lab was quite useful when used correctly. After documenting the information, it was quite apparent the actual data is slightly different from the theoretical values. This is ideally so because there is human error in calculating current, resistances, and power delivered. ...

...Having majored in physical science in associate degree, I would now like to further continue my studies by majoring in mechatronic engineering as an undergraduate. My interest in machinery dates back to my years in primary school, which is located near some garages. When I saw a sports car there, its shape and engine on the back sparked my interest in machinery. I started to find some more information about engines and cars, cultivating my interest in mechatronic engineering. I have read many cars related books and magazine, comprehending the suspension system, gearbox, engine, etc. Also, studying physics at an advanced level has been very helpful in developing my interest in mechanics and mechanics and electricity are my favorite parts within the whole syllabus because it sometimes relates to machinery. Despite the failure of the exam, I choose physical science to continue my studies in associate degree, striving for a Bachelor degree in mechatronic engineering. With respect to my extra-curricular life, I have been a chairperson of the table tennis club, which involves representing our school inter-school competition, made me experience the importance of being a team player. I was also elected as the house chairperson, leading several hundred schoolmates to strive for a common goal- BE THE CHAMPION. I developed and sharpened my leadership skills and communication skills as well as problem solving skills by uniting my house members to fight for our glory. At the end, with...
