How does the media affect the way women see their body?

Theory: The media shows how a woman’s body is supposed to be through magazine, billboards and commercial ads. The way the women’s body is displayed in the media influence how women see their body and shapes their idea on how the perfect body looks like. The concern is that the media is influencing women to see their body in certain way and sometimes women do not feel satisfied with their body. “Body dissatisfaction has reached normative levels among American girls and young women. Approximately 50% of girls and undergraduate women report being dissatisfied with their bodies” …show more content…
I would use survey because it is very detailed and also it gets you an accurate answer from the participants. Survey is anonymous and this allows participants to feel confident and comfortable when they provide their answer. For this survey, I would use terms such as Strongly Disagree, Disagree, Agree, and Strongly Agree to determine how the participant feels towards the questionnaire.
Some Possible survey questionnaire would be:

Participants and Sampling: for this research, the participants would be young women aged 12-19. This would be the perfect age range for sampling because those group of women are most likely to be influenced by the media on how they see their body and also what their ideas of a perfect body is. The peer pressure is one of the reasons why those girls want to look like the women on TV.
The participants I will select for this research will most likely be students in high school. The reason behind that is that students in high school are most likely to feel pressured about their body by society, especially their peers. Ethics: In this research the confidentiality of the participants is ensured. When the participants respond to the survey, no one will know it is their response. The fact that they do not mention any of their personal information in the survey ensured that their confidentiality is protected and this also helps the participants respond to the survey as honest as possible.
Informed consent is also another ethic that I take in consideration. The participants have the right to know the purpose of the research is and what is the intention with it. By informing them about the research and its procedure I will be informing them about the overall research and the types of questions that will be
