In this weeks videos the first segment covers the importance to balancing the books. Balancing the books is an essential part to the business. Accounting methods help businesses to collect, record and analyze financial data. Informed business decisions can be made on the data through the recorded information in the well-kept records. The video goes into detail on the accounting information and tools, balance sheet, calculating profit and loss, cash controls and assessing financial performance.
Accounting information and tools is in reference to the four processes of collecting, recording, analyzing and reporting. Accounting information is about taking raw financial data and turning it into information used by the clients to assist them into making sound business decisions. Collecting the data is the first step and includes some of the following investment reports, pay slip and bank statements. The data is then recorded, analyzed and then reported the findings to the client.
The balance sheet uses an equation where assets equal liabilities plus the owner’s equity. Assets are things that thee business owns or trades with any money it owns. Current assets are circulating constantly, and fixed assets are equipment. Liabilities are claims against the business including current liabilities like financial loans planned to be paid off in a year and non-current liabilities like auto loans that stretch over a period of years.
The calculation of profit and loss is an essential measuring stick to how a business is doing. Profit and/or loss measure the difference between income and expenses. The calculation of process or loss is the difference in the income in the operation of the company and the decrease of owners’ equity attributable to expenses. An example of an increase of profit

Persuasive Essay: Year-Round School Breaks

...Summer is finally here, and as soon as you dip your toes in the water, it’s already over. The 8 hours of Netflix you watched replaced all of you knowledge from last year.. When you finally get to school, your grade starts off with a 70% in your ELAR test. This is what we call ‘Summer Brain drain’ and there’s now a way to prevent it. Year round school makes sure we have breaks that are more spread out, therefore not forgetting any information. With year round school, in between breaks we could get more sleep, bump your grades by getting more time to study, and stopping brain drain. On average, teenagers get 7- 7 ¼ hours of sleep, and with homework, sports, and social media, sleep can be lower than that. We need exactly 9 ¼ hours of sleep a...

Pricing Strategies of Low Cost Airlines

... 1. Introduction Low cost airlines such as EasyJet, and Ryanair have developed quickly in the European market in the last five years. The UK market has seen the most dramatic development where by the summer of 2001, these carriers accounted for over 22% of the short haul capacity from London and were present in 58% of the 128 short haul routes operated from this city (source: OAG, 2001). During a five-year period from 1997, the seat capacity offered from London has risen by 17%, and virtually all of this rise (95.4%) was attributable to the low cost carriers. The low cost carriers have both penetrated and grown these markets, principally by garnering a consumer perception that the fares offered are very low. This perception has been developed in no small part by extensive advertising and effective use of public relations. For example, Ryanair has offered fares as low as one penny (plus taxes), and therefore it is not surprising that there is great media coverage of these carriers, which in turn generates more interest in the services. Both Ryanair and EasyJet have been very effective in using media coverage of their legal wrangles with traditional carriers such as British Airways and Lufthansa to promote their services and low fares. While the media has helped these airlines communicate their message of low fares to the public it has also focused on the availability of these very low fares. Some reports offer anecdotal evidence of limited availability of...

...need to play where they play. Teen and tween virtual worlds and the people who create, monitor and brand on them offer a direct, immersive channel for communicating with this unpredictable demographic. With 1.6 million apparel items "bought" on Zwinky and a million instances of Sears’s clothes being tried on and saved on Meez, the brand engagement exceeded expectations, says Dave Bazant, Sears' advertising manager for online and emerging media. "The effort was about learning as much as we can," Bazant says. "Working with a younger target that doesn't necessarily consider our brand, [the campaign] certainly drives up our name with this audience." "Engagement" is the operative word on virtual sites where brands can splash their name around the environment by opening boutiques in virtual malls or sponsoring lounges where users can congregate. To build up its back-to-school campaign, Sears did just that on the teen and tween sister sites Zwinky and Meez. In its Arrive Lounge on Zwinky, a Sears-created video featuring High School Musical 3 star Vanessa Hudgens played in the background. Users could also watch a Sears-sponsored fashion show or visit its boutique to try on the clothes. (Schwirtz, 2010) Discuss clothes shopping from a family decision-making standpoint, including parent-child dynamics and determine the dynamic that Sears is attempting to influence by using social network sites.
