Meet Me In St. Louis Analysis

This Sunday I joined the celebrate concert in Transfiguration Episcopal Church. Alternate between chorus singing and singing along. There were about 18 songs total and a story telling along with music. I really impressed by two songs sang by chorus which were “Have Yourself a Marry Little Christmas” and “Duerme Negrito”.
“Have Yourself a Marry Little Christmas” written by Ralph Blane (lyricist) and Hugh Martin (composer). This song became famous in the 1940s, when it was sung by Judy Garland in the movie “Meet Me in St. Louis”. This song has a time signature of 4/4. The most memorable element of music for this song is lyrics. The alternation of the lyrics does more than just change the meaning; it completely ruins the song. Instead of a message of hope for people going through dark times, the song’s climax instead contains a Christmas decorating to-do list. Glad we got a reminder of what we’re supposed to do with shining stars and bought. …show more content…
Atahualpa Yupanqui collected this song, when he was visiting this region. His song based on this lullaby which popularized by Yupanqui, Mercedes Sosa and other musicians, when touring around the world. The title of the song, “Duerme Negrito” (literally “sleep, little black one”) probably translates well as “sleep, dear little one” or “sleep, my darling.” The arrangement for four-part treble voices is by Emilio Sole, a spanish musician and educator active in Venezuela. Similarly, this song also have a time signature of 4/4. I enjoyed this song because of its remarkable balance and mellow tone, seems like a sound from the rumbling basses on up. I also like its dynamic shadings: its ability to sustain, then build from, nearly inaudible pianos, or to distinguish between a forte and a fortissimo. Its instrumental ensemble in the first set was respectable, its piano soloist in a few pieces songs quite

American Music Film

...Mid-term Paper October 19 2012 Backstage Musical Evolution The backstage musical has been around for quite some time. From Busby Berkeley and Fred Astaire to more modern like Arthur Freed and Judy Garland, the backstage musical genre will always have a place in Hollywood history. What makes the backstage musical different from the typical musical is that the plot usually revolved around the theater and therefore can lead to natural breaks into song and dance. For example in Easter Parade Fred Astaire says that he can get anyone to become a great dancing partner, therefore Fred and his dancing partner, Judy Garland can break out in dance and the logic would not be questioned. This specific type of musical is very important in the history of American musicals. Like everything else in life, things change and mature and this form of musical is no exception to this. A lot of the movies in this genre started like a straight forward love story with singing and dancing but as time went on the plots for more complicated and mature. They also experimented with different idea and themes as time went on. As time went on the backstage musical changed. While there was a lot of change, one interesting thing that doesn't really change are the people behind these movies. Fred Astaire, Busby Berkeley, Judy Garland, Arthur Freed, and many more seem to have been the go to people for these type of movies. Understandably, they are all unbelievably talented and great at what they...

To make sure I proposed the most effective plan possible, I decided to seek the advice of experts. Fortunately, one of the area’s top experts in wireless networking, Jamie Brookstone, president of Brookstone Network Consulting, offered the services of his staff pro bono. Thanks to his offer, I was able to meet several times with the following consultants: Lyn Luzerne Our conversations focused on ways to improve network connections for the center’s staff and patrons. I also studied information obtained from leading hardware manufacturers and software distributors. This research suggests that our first step is to conduct a site survey of our entire facility. Final Recommendation A high availability, secure wireless network is crucial to our mission at Orchard Street Art Center. Lighting and sound systems in our two theaters increasingly rely on wireless signaling, as do our classroom facilities. Furthermore, patrons and instructors now consider a secure wireless network essential for a variety of purposes. I recommend hiring a professional networking engineer to conduct a wireless site survey of Orchard Street Art Center’s entire facility, including the outdoor terraces and the open-air theater. The network engineers at Brookstone Network Consulting suggest we obtain bids from five networking firms in the St. Louis...

Evaluating a Website for Credibility

...Evaluation of Website for Credibility: American Association for Nurse Practitioners Aman Verma Chamberlain College of Nursing NR500: Foundational Concepts and Applications September 18, 2013 Evaluation of Website for Credibility: American Association for Nurse Practitioners American Association for Nurse Practitioners (AANP) is a national professional membership organization for NPs of all roles. The purpose of their website is to support and transform the dynamic roles of nurse practitioners (NPs) as prime providers into patient focused healthcare. Being in the family nurse practitioner program fueled my interest to this website. I aspire to enhance my knowledge by investigating and educating myself on further roles of NPs in the community, acute care settings, administrative positions and tertiary care centers. The response to my discussion thread this week regarding legislations and regulations for nurse practitioners (NPs) grasped my attention for AANP as it is equipped with the information. The search engine that was used to locate the website is the Google. The domain name for AANP is aanp.org and the Uniform Resource Locator page address is http://www.aanp.org. American Association for Nurse Practitioner (AANP) is governed by a designated Board of Directors, which consists of 7 Executive Committee, 11 Regional Directors and 2 members. The board members are highly qualified NPs with Doctorate to Masters in Science degrees with an NP certification. Most of the...

Philosophy of Nursing Paper

...patient many times. I have experienced many surgeries, multiple recoveries and rehabilitation. Through this journey I encountered many healthcare providers. When I became a nurse I had the opportunity to meet even more healthcare providers. Just like the ones I met as a patient most were good and some were bad, as with any profession. What stands out in my mind when I was a patient was that some doctors and nurses heard my voice. They listened to me, they respected me and they cared for me. They were just as skilled as the other doctors or nurses but they had something more. They genuinely cared about me as a person. These experiences as a patient and as a nurse have shown me the the value of caring in the health care profession. With this background I found most nursing theories to be less than satisfying. I liked different theorists for different situations in nursing. I could not totally agree with everything from each theorist I explored. Now, with my deeper understanding of nursing theories, I understand theories are to be a guide for nurses to follow and make the theory their own (Friberg & Creasia, 2016). Probably due to my experiences described above, Jean Watson’s theory of nursing based on the philosophy and science of caring (Friberg & Creasia, 2016) struck a chord with me. Dr. Jean Watson is the founder and director of the Watson Caring Science Institute. She obtained a R.N. Diploma in Nursing, a B.S. in Nursing, a M.S. in psychiatric mental-health nursing with a minor...
