...One Night With Justin January 17, 2007 is a night I will remember forever. It is the night my dreams became a reality for one night and one night only. On this day at 7:30P.M., at the Save-Mart Center in Fresno, California, I saw the man of my dream, My Love, Justin Timberlake. What made this night even better was the fact that I was about 20 feet from the stage. I had floor seats to the most amazing concert ever. My roommate and I were in heaven. Justin came to Fresno on his FutureSex/LoveSounds tour. Joining him on tour was female singer Pink, who was the opening act, and producer and rapper Timbaland, who joined Justin on stage for a new numbers, including a monologue of his own. Pink opened up the show at the stroke of 7:30. She came out in a denim tank top and denim pleaded skirt. She got the party started. Her performance was energetic and amazing. She even performed an acrobatic routine in the air. At around 9:00P.M., the teasing began. The band members slowly made their way to the stage and they began to play a little interlude. The arena, already lively, began screaming their heads off, crying, shaking, jumping up and down, and anticipating the moment when the most amazing man in the world would reveal himself. The first song started up. It was the title track FutureSex/LoveSounds. Justin emerged from the center of the stage, dressed in a black suit, with a white guitar around his neck. Silk screens were surrounding the entire round stage. The stage...

...last time my mom overdosed was the last time I was with her. I still remember this day like it was yesterday. It was almost the worst day in my life. My day started out just how any other day would. I woke up and got me and my little sister breakfast. Then I went to see what my mother was doing. I couldn’t find her at all I looked all over. I went in to her room. She was asleep and I couldn’t get her awake, which then wasn’t a big deal because she was hard to wake up. But then a couple hours later I tried to wake her up. She wouldn’t wake up. I was shaking her and slapping her hand. I had my twin sister try to wake her up. She couldn’t get her up. Then I called my great grandma, she came right there. She only lived a mile down the road. When she arrived she went in and tried to wake her up. She had no luck. So then my great grandma started crying. She then called my grandma she came as soon as she could which was like ten minutes. When she got there she went right to my mom’s room. She was furious. She knew what was going on. My mother had overdosed. She had been over dosing for awhile now. My grandma tried to wake her up she couldn’t. She called the town cop chief, she told him what was going on and he came and he brought the ambulance. When the chief got he sat down with my grandma on the front porch and talked to her about the situation and how long she had been overdosing. Meanwhile the emt’s were prepping my mother to take her to the hospital. I was holding my little sister...

...included, why I loved him. That evening was a celebration of the life of my boyfriend, Parker. He had died in a swimming accident that summer, trying to save the life of a friend. A deep breath in, a deep breath out, and I began to speak, seeing his mother’s tearstained face in the patches of my vision unclouded by the lights. I concentrated my thoughts and words on the qualities he had in abundance: his energy, his generosity, his good humor, his talent, and his passion for life. I felt a desperate need to express myself to all the people gathered to remember him, to remind them of him. But I left out so much. The words I spoke were light, reminding everyone of his humor, making them laugh quietly through their tears. I didn’t speak of the two days in which I had waited, with bated breath and breaking heart, to know whether he lived or died. A chance meeting with a member of his church had informed me of only the slightest details of the accident. Being half a world away, with his family in the process of moving, I was left scrambling to contact anyone who could tell me what happened. I needed to hear something, anything, to dispel the nameless fears running through my mind. How was I to describe those hours of waiting to that audience? Of sitting in a darkened room with his best friend, alternately sobbing and seeking to comfort? Those words, had I found them, would not have been suitable for my speech, and so they were not spoken. The criteria given to me for...

...read this, you should know that I already asked Mr. McMurtry if I could write my fiction project in an experimental science fiction style and make lots of horrible, malicious, false, and hateful blood libels against the Mormons, and he asked what I had in mind, and I told him that I thought it could be cool to write a story that consisted entirely of a War between Mormons and Scientologists and Atheist Texan Cowboys in the Future, and he said that would be fine. I knew he’d let me do it, as his homosexuality is a well known fact to the student body, and therefore his concomitant openness to avant-guard art and literature and experimentation and stuff like that. Not like the other English teacher, Ms. Nichols, who is the sort of totally sexless spinster that makes her students write poems about Jesus, which I’m pretty sure is fucking illegal, although I’m sure nobody in this hick town cares. God and Football, all the way. Ok, so, then I didn’t do any work on it at all until last night. We had to do a one-page outline a few weeks ago, which is so stupid, so I did it on the bus and I have no idea what I wrote, so last night I just started over from scratch. Anyway, last night, I thought, hey, why not post it on the forums and see what people on the forums think about it? And then, I had the absolute coolest idea. What if, when I hand in the final copy, I hand in the entire thread as my story? My story would be in there somewhere, and then all the posts that you goons make...

...A Dream, a vision, a goal, a desire, these are all things most of us know we need when we are working towards success but have somewhere along the line, forgotten why it is so important we follow them through. The 16 Reasons Why It Is So Important To Follow Your Dreams 1. The secret of living is giving, if you follow your dreams then you will have something 5. Dreams can distract you from the negative events in life. You will weigh up what is more important, your dreams or the drama. Drama seems obsolete when you are passionate about following your dreams. 6. It gives you something to share and inspire your kids with, you have led by example that anything is possible when you put your mind to it. 7. Through accomplishing your dreams you will come to appreciate the experience of failure and know that failure is just part of success and that it wasn’t really all that bad as it was all worth it in the end. 8. Regret is a terrible thing, and a dream is powerful enough to bring you regret if you don’t take the chance to at least follow it. 9. Because you are never too old to dream. Age means nothing when we know what we want. 10. You become an interesting person, you show others you have meaning, direction and purpose. 11. The unknown of following your dreams may spark a little fear, this is okay though because a little fear is known to make you feel more alive. 12. It is fun proving the world wrong, so why would you follow the status quo? 13. The more you chase and accomplish...

...“Effective Marketing for Products” xxxxxxx “To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment.” –Ralph Waldo Emerson. The aforementioned quote is a proverb that one can reflect on as one of the greatest accomplishments one should possess. In order to stand out in a world full of conformity, one must exude characteristics of being exceptional, unique, and different, all synonyms that essentially have a base meaning of individuality. In American modern society, accomplishments such as obtaining an undergraduate degree were once scarce, now this accomplishment is considered by most to be standard. With each passing year, to get an entry level position in today’s job market is more competitive than ever due to this increase in the amount of people with undergraduate degrees. A Bachelor of Science or Arts degree now has the same value of a High School Diploma, and having a Masters degree is now considered as the standard to attain a decent position. How can one be successful in showcasing themselves and drawing attention away from the rest? A great way for an individual to learn how to be noticed is to look at oneself from a marketing standpoint. One should ask oneself, “If I were a product, how would I market myself to the masses?” For a product to be successful, it has to be cunning, fresh, and exciting. The product has to be able to be easily sold to consumers and remain in high demand for long periods...

A lot of times – insurance won’t cover it and if you don’t change your eating habits, you’ll just end up gaining the weight right back. My recommendation is to join a local gym and find some type of weight loss support group. I’ve heard that Weight Watchers is a great inexpensive plan that works for some people and weight loss is sometimes easier if you have someone working with you. Without that, there is not going to be a whole lot I can do to make you feel better. Unfortunately, there is not a magic pill to stop the damage all of that additional weight is doing to your body. At this point, it is all up to...

...What exactly can encapsulate how a year in Cambridge has been like? What choice of words, what photos, what specific memories would suffice to capture the whirlwind of emotions, the myriad of new experiences? Nothing really seems to come close, but here’s a shot at it. Cook-outs – One of the first few things that you’ll start missing when overseas would definitely be the food; your humble hokkein mee, chye tao kueh, rojak, laksa… you name it, we’ll crave it. The fact that the only photos that Singaporeans seem capable of posting on Facebook are that of food certainly doesn’t make things easier. So what does one do then? LEARN HOW TO COOK. This was no mean feat for me especially, as someone who didn’t know how to cook an omelette without charring. The learning curve may be steep but you’ll be surprised at how fast you’ll learn and also how high your tolerance for substandard food becomes when you’ve misjudged the time to let your noodles boil and the amount of salt to add for the 912695th time. Not to worry also, CUMSA is overrun by excellent individuals who are so well-rounded that they can not only finish all their supervision work, attend formals every night and generally save the world, but they can cook. So when you’re tired of eating over-salted soggy noodles, all you need to do is wrangle an invitation to dinner. Oh the delicacies that they can whip up, but more importantly the glorious company and bonds forged over dinner. Food really is one of the ties that bind Singaporeans...

...Insanity Insanity runs deep within one’s veins; it travels at such a fast speed that one does not realize. It claws and screams from within, begging to be freed, begging to be released so it can corrupt. So it can corrupt and destroy and simply ruin the beauty in the world. You see, if Insanity was left loose into the world, then Insanity would ruin even the most innocent of things. For example, imagine Insanity to be a person. A person with two arms, two legs, hands and feet; a person with blood pulsing through thick veins and capillaries and breathing life into lungs—a person with a beating heart, eyes like the darkest oceans in this world as this person stares and stalks. Do you see that person? Can you picture that person perfectly? Can you picture that person standing tall in the falling, peaceful snow dressed in black, watching carefully? Can you? Can you feel the person’s breath tickling down your throat as they step closer, as fingers wrap around your throat and slowly but surely squeeze. Like I said, slowly at first… so slow, so gentle, you can’t really notice it; you don’t panic, you relax. Your lips part and your head tips back a little, eyes locking with theirs, question filling your irises. But then you feel it, you feel the hatred running through your veins, intoxicating your mind and your heart and ruining every single cell in that what was once innocent body of yours. You feel Insanity taking over and you cannot stop it because the rush, the taste, the...

...story about life growing up with a single mother as a parent and having siblings that he also shared the same pain with him. He begins the song by letting his mother know he is grateful for everything she has done for him. In life everybody will eventually need someone to lean on whether it’s just for comfort or for help. “Through the drama I can always depend on my mama.” (Tupac Dear Mama Verse 3). Most people lean on family members or close friends but very seldom do will they ask for help from anyone outside of that. In this song Tupac depends on his mother to help raise him because he is young and growing. He goes by saying that no matter if it was right or wrong his mother would always have his back. He explains how his family didn’t have anything but his mama always made something happen so that him and his sister could eat. Even though his mother did drugs she always provided for her family, “and even as a crack fiend mama, you always was a black queen mama” (Tupac Dear Mama Verse 1) In the song Dear Mama Tupac explains how he caused his mother so much stress and pain. “There’s no way I can pay you back, but my plan is to make you understand. You are appreciated.” (Tupac Dear Mama Chorus) He was always acting out by not going to school and getting in and out of trouble, which also included running from the police, things of that sort. Tupac didn’t realize at the time that he was hurting her more than helping her. Tupac is basically saying that there is nothing he can...
