The speech was given by a woman named Megan Coral from the renfrew center which is a treatment facility that specializes in anorexia, bulimia, and many other eating disorders. She has been pioneering in the fight against eating disorder since 1985. The nature or reason this event is being held here at suny orange is because of the effects that social media have on eating disorders.A summary of the speech is that more and more teens are doing everything in their power to become thinner through guilt and shame. These social media platforms such as twitter,facebook,instagram,tv, etc.. are giving teens the idea that no matter how hard they work at becoming skinnier it will never be good enough, and this forces them to develop horrible eating disorders. She than went on to the solutions or the fixes to perhaps lower the amount of eating disorders that are caused by social media. My overall evaluation of the speech was that the speaker did well to deliver his or her message very well with little to no issues, I believe the speech does well to describe social media’s effect on eating disorders because of the amount of evidence she had, and some of the propaganda she displayed as an example. The speaker's delivery added to the presentation because not only did she have the visual aid she had other outside information, and maintained proper posture and volume through the whole speech.
