One day in our quest for new ideas for arts and crafts day, my girls and I came across an interesting picture of a tutu chandelier. The instructions seemed simple enough so we decided to try it out. We were so pleased with the outcome that I thought it would be a good idea to share with others. To complete this project you will first need to gather all your materials. * A solid ring (I got mine for $2.30 at Hobby Lobby) * 6 inch spool of tulle * lace or decor ribbon for the outside of the ring * 8 flowers you can pop the heads off of * spool of beads for the droop * hanging bead string for the middle * ribbon to hang the chandelier * hot glue gun * hot glue sticks * scissors First lay out four ribbons on the four sides of your ring. After this, use the hot glue gun to glue the ribbons onto the ring near the top, bottom and both sides. The addition of alloying elements such as silicon along with other minor elements increases its mechanical strength. In this study we evaluate the effect on casting quality of an ultrasonic method for treating the melt. An experimental set up was built for the degassing of hydrogen and other inclusions from aluminium melt. First an impeller is rotated in an inert gas environment to draw out hydrogen bubbles by increasing the surface area to volume ratio. Then using ultrasonic vibrations at a frequency of 20 kHz and power of 1.5 kW, cavitation bubbles induces dispersion and degassing action. Analysis of microstructure and mechanical properties was done using SEM (scanning electrom microscopy) and brinnels test. Various relationships such as the melt temperature, volume melt, grain size and their effects on degassing efficiency have also been established. Salt causes a reaction that lowers the freezing point of water. In this experiment we will test this method of applying salt to ice to see if for certain this is true, and how much faster the salt melts if so. In this experiment, the Independent Variable will be adding Salt to the ice and the Dependent variable will be the time it takes the ice to melt. The Plan is to use two ice cubes in separate containers, and add ice to only one of these. Each will be timed and observed for the duration it takes both to melt, and data will be collected throughout. At the end of the experiment, enough information will be gathered to confirm whether adding salt to ice in turn makes it melt faster, and how much faster this occurs versus adding nothing to ice. They take up 10% of the world’s total land area and are usually found in Polar Regions like Antarctica and Greenland and places where there are high altitudes and low latitudes. Fresh falling snow is made up of tiny ice crystals and after it lands it changes into solid ice. Newly fallen snow is light and porous, but as the snow becomes buried by more snow, the snowflakes change into granular ice called firn. As time passes the firn gets buried further causing the weight above it to compress it into solid ice. The force of gravity and the pressure of the ice cause the glacier to move downhill. The ice mass will stay stationary until it reaches a certain amount of thickness and when the ice reaches this amount of thickness, the pressure becomes great enough to cause the glacier to deform and move. The ice will move away from where there is the most pressure (thickest part of the glacier). Glaciers can retreat or advance depending on the amount of snow accumulation and ablation that occurs from year to year. If accumulation exceeds ablation, then the mass of the glacier will increase which causes the glacier to advance. If the snout moves to an area of lower latitude ablation will increase and eventually equilibrium will be re-established.
