According to our text, the organization’s mission statement defines their purpose of existence (Parnell, 2014). Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare or MLH purpose of existence is to be a leader in health through “quality, cost-effective-and family-centered care”. Because the mission of MLH holds all associates accountable for providing quality healthcare to our communities, it has to be concise, clear, and easily remembered.
MLH is committed to its mission. In fact, the mission serves as the foundation for the organizational culture experienced at each MLH facility. Through continuous training and accountability, associates are energized, thus buying in and taking ownership of the mission of MLH.

Additionally, MLH utilizes family-centered-care, which “redefines the relationships in health care” (Patient-and family-centered care, n.d.). MLH redefines this relationship by exhibiting dignity and respect for both patient and their family, sharing complete and unbiased information, allowing for family participation in care planning and delivery, and through collaboration in policies, procedures, and training (Patients & Families, n.d.). MLH patients and families consist of the surrounding communities. The organization participates in numerous outreach projects to build and maintain relationships in the communities.
MLH mission statement is also faith-based and supports the health ministries and Social Principles of the United Methodist Church. Therefore, to accomplish our mission, we provide services to the working poor along with the help of community partners.
