A few leaders, notably Charles “Lucky” Luciano, broke that rule and used their organizations to push other gangs out of the drug trade and developed sophisticated networks for importing and selling illegal drugs in the United States (Mazzeno, 2011). During World War II illegal drugs were becoming less available in the U.S. because traffickers had a difficult time importing the drugs from overseas areas that were already in a conflict. After the war, drug trafficking picked up again making the Mafia the lead supplier of illegal drugs. “The Mafia’s extensive network, organized in a fashion similar to an American corporation, provided a means for smuggling drugs into the country through ports (and later through terminals), where it controlled many of the operations” (Mazzeno, 2011). ...Pierre Villa Toca Gina Perkins English 1301 Co.7 7 April 2014 Illegal Immigration with Mexico If you were in a situation where migrating to another country would be the best thing to do, what would you do? A lot of issues surge when dealing with immigration in the United States. We all are considered immigrants because a long time ago back when Columbus discovered this land in 1942 Europeans came in and took over the land where Native Americans had been living for many years. In other words every white in America is descendant from immigrants of some other country but yet there are people in USA that say Mexicans don’t have the right to immigrate. It’s very ironic that such people say that, it’s like saying, there are two immigrants and one says to another “You don’t have the right to immigrate, only I do.” There is a range of positive and negative aspects of immigration. Weather one should take a side for either against it or not, it’s up to oneself to decide. The definition of an immigrant or illegal alien is best summarized as a person coming in to a different country and settling without the countries permission to stay. ------------------------------------------------- The question, should amnesty be given to illegal immigrants?, Brings up a lot of controversy in all of USA. Mexican immigrants are willing to work out in fields picking crops, cleaning houses, bus tables, etc. all these jobs are jobs that immigrants are very eager to do so, even at minimum wage...

There are different types of illegal drugs smuggled into the United States each day. Cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine, ecstasy, and marijuana are the most popular illegal drugs smuggled. “Cocaine is produced in the South American Andean countries of Colombia, Peru, and Bolivia; Colombia is the source of an estimated 90 percent of the cocaine supply in the U.S. market” (Lyman & Potter, 2007). Since Nordstorm’s (p. 402) competes in the U.S., give an example of each of the marketing environment forces (Political, Legal, and Regulatory; Technological; Social; and Competitive and Economic Forces. Ans. Nordstorm working as departmental store in the retail industry would be effected by all the forces in the marketing environment. Political environment in U.S is very conducive for the growth of any industry because U.S provides a very stable government, which has a consistent track record of providing one of the most industry- friendly atmospheres in the entire world. The political interference in the free display of market forces is minimum compared to other countries. American laws have been very tough for countries hostile to U.S and such firms from these countries find it difficult to export goods to U.S. For example, Iran. Similarly, when consumer groups lobbied U.S Congress passed stringent rules on the terms of car leases (Perner, 2008). So, certain policies that benefit the industry may have a negative impact on the nation as a whole but may enhance profits for the particular industry. ...Comparative Analysis of the Health Care Systems Offered in the United States and Mexico Comparative Analysis of the Health Care Systems Offered in the United States and Mexico Healthcare Comparison of United States and Mexico The objective of this report is to give a comparative analysis between the United States healthcare system and Mexico's. Its key focal point will be centered on the countries policies, how their various systems are financed, who provides healthcare, the costs of the programs and availability of access. While some factors of these two countries are similar there are varying differences among them, especially cost and access. All of the components of the two countries healthcare systems will be discussed in depth in a non-biased manner, it is our goal to simply establish how they are similar and what differences there are among them. For starters a comparison of the overall health of the people of the two countries will form a baseline as to the quality of care being provided in each of the countries and give us an insight into the effectiveness of its preventative services. The mortality rate of citizens of Mexico is 4.86 per 1,000, whereas the U.S. has 8.38 per 1,000(CIA, 2001) This is due in large part to the number of citizens the U.S. has over 65 years of age, 13.1% of the U.S. population is over 65, Mexico's is half that with 6.6%. While the baby boomer generation is a large reason why this number is high, a correlation between the quality...

...Mexico: Drugs or Democracy Introduction Illicit drug trade between Mexico and the United States, estimated between $17 billion and $38 billion a year in 2009 by the Drug Intelligence Center, has a long and storied past. Cartels operated with relative impunity from government prosecution during the seventy year reign of the Institutional Revolutionary Party, (PRI). The movement from an authoritarian government system of the PRI to the liberal democracy initiated by the election victory of the National Action Party, (PAN), candidate, Vicente Fox, in 2000, disrupted the status quo. Election gains by PAN Representatives disrupted long standing agreements between the cartels and government officials which led to the increased violence that exists today. This paper will explore the history of the relationship between the cartels and the PRI. The effect of the increased violence from the cartels inhibits the efforts of PAN party officials to establish a lasting democracy. Literature Review Research shows the three distinct stages in the development of a cohesive relationship between drug cartels and government in Mexico and identifies the political and economic conditions that have allowed the drug trade to thrive. Comparing Mexico with Columbia, another narcotics state, provides an additional case study on the subject matter and highlights actions utilized successfully. A review of the current political and military efforts to curtail corruption within the government provides...
