Change Management Plan Change Management Plan Riordan Manufacturing, Inc is a global plastics manufacturer and had been in the business for over 20 years. Their products include beverage containers, custom plastic parts, and plastic fan parts. The company strives to become the leading solution provider to its customers concerning polymer materials and will remain to be the industry leader in identifying industry trends. The vertical power and political structure of Riordan Manufacturing has been effective in the daily operations in the business (Cosgrove, 2012.). The CEO has the most power to make changes and provide solutions in a given situation. However, there are several vice-presidents and directors who also can be influential and has silent authority, such as the CEO’s which influence others by just their mere presence (Rawes, 2010). With this type of structure in Riordan Manufacturing, employees’ behaviors may be influenced by the management as some may oppose, comply, and commit to whatever change that the upper management desires. As a company, Riordan Manufacturing encourages an open-door policy and demonstrates its commitment by responding effectively to employees’ concerns from work conditions, wages, and benefits. This leads to the nonexistence of any union representation that promotes employees to voice out their concerns and results to an accommodating work environment, clearer line of communication and optimistic employee behavior (Robbins & Judge, 2011). However, for the last three years, the annual Employee Satisfaction Survey results reflect a deteriorating approval rating to the management of Riordan Manufacturing. The employees believe that the management is no longer interested to their welfare and no longer understands the issues that

The Dirty Heads

...Shayna Robledo October 9, 2012 Music 290 The Dirty Heads A few weekends ago, on September 28, 2012, I attended The Dirty Heads (TDH) concert. The concert took place at Senator Theater. The doors opened at 7:30 PM and the concert started at 8:30 PM. The Dirty Heads has a full band. This means that they had a percussionist (Jon Olazabal), a drummer (Matt Ochoa), a bassist (David Foral), a vocalist/guitarist (Dustin “Duddy B”) and a singer/song writer (Jared “Dirty J” Watson). The style of music that they play is reggae with a mix of hip hop, ska punk, and So Cal style. They were the main event but Pyrex and Ease Up also performed during the concert. During the concert, TDH performed a number of amazing songs. My favorite four that they played are as follows; 1. Cabin by The Sea: This was my most favorite song that they played. It is a very mellow and relaxed song. The song is all about having the time of your life by the sea. It’s about relaxing and being yourself around your friends. It’s about expressing yourself and completely being at peace. It paints a picture of a fun night at the beach with your friends and completely being happy. I love that it kept repeating, “Our friends are all around and the storm was an ocean, they say we look better in a black and white photo”. To me, this truly expresses that you don’t have to worry about your troubles at the moment, just take a step back to admire life and have fun and remember it. This song is all about...

Mgmt Organizational Behavior

...Organizational Behavior Sarah Self MGMT 311 July 27, 2013 Organizational behavior Within all organizations whether big or small it is essential to create a proper work environment for all of their employees. The key aspects to creating this type of environment are the ability to understand employee behavior, strong communication, ability to adapt, and strong ethics. For this paper I will be discussing the issues that I had with my previous employer. The issues described in this case are to do with management. When there is a communication breakdown between employees, a totalitarian leadership that does not consider the views and participation of employees and unprofessional handling of information, the organization is bound to fail. This could be due to a lack clear and defined channels of communication in the organization, inadequate training of managers in management science and are just bad leadership. Whenever there are such problems, the solutions could include the following as specified in the explanations below: Communication Firstly, communication by definition is the sharing of information between two or more individuals and /or groups to get at a particular understanding (Bauer, T., & Erdogan, B. 2010). This implies that the meaning of the information contained in the message to be must be easy to encode for it to qualify as effective communication. Good communication is an essential element of any organization’s success. Mangers should spend a great...

Bottom of the Pyramid

...CANSU DALKILIC MGMT 311 RESPONSE PAPER 2 32936 There is an ongoing debate on if it is possible to integrate dominant economies with the bottom of the pyramid which are the 4 billion people who have less than 2$ per day. It occurs questions like if it is possible for companies to compete by serving people who counted as bottom pyramid? Is it possible for those poor people to survive by being consumers of MNCs? Prahalad believes that it is a win win for both MNCs and tier 4 (bottom of the pyramid). In other words, he believes that it is possible to sell high quality products to mass number of poor people. Both Prahalad and Karnani want to find solution to alleviate poverty, but they have different approaches to this issue. Prahalad states that we should consider poors as consumers. In contrast to Prahalad, Karnani thinks that rather than viewing the poor primarily as consumers, an alternative approach is to focus on the poor as producers and to emphasize buying from the poor. The only way to alleviate poverty is to raise real income of the poor. Karnani quotes the example of Nirma, a demonstrably inferior product to some of the alternative detergents on the market, such as Surf. It was hard on the skin, and could sometimes cause blisters. And yet it retailed at a third of the price of its competitors, and achieved majority market share from consumers for whom the trade off between price and quality was one that they were happy to make. He concludes: "Insisting on not lowering...

How Corporate Social Responsibility Is defiNed

...Corporate Social Responsibility and Environmental Management Corp. Soc. Responsib. Environ. Mgmt. (in press) Published online in Wiley InterScience (www.interscience.wiley.com) DOI: 10.1002/csr.132 How Corporate Social Responsibility is Defined: an Analysis of 37 Definitions Alexander Dahlsrud* Department of Industrial Economics and Technology Management, Faculty of Social Science and Technology Management, Norwegian University of Science and Technology, Trondheim, Norway ABSTRACT Despite numerous efforts to bring about a clear and unbiased definition of CSR, there is still some confusion as to how CSR should be defined. In this paper five dimensions of CSR are developed through a content analysis of existing CSR definitions. Frequency counts are used to analyse how often these dimensions are invoked. The analysis shows that the existing definitions are to a large degree congruent. Thus it is concluded that the confusion is not so much about how CSR is defined, as about how CSR is socially constructed in a specific context. Mgmt 591 - Case Study 3 - Building Coalitions

...Case Study 3: Building a Coalition Keller Graduate School of Management MGMT 591: Leadership and Organizational Behavior March 22, 2015 Part 1: Group Development The five-stage group-development model consists of: forming, storming, norming, performing, and adjourning. (Robbins 275) Forming stage. In this first stage, the team is getting to know each other, their backgrounds, work experience, and learning about their strengths and weaknesses. Informal leaders may start to emerge during this stage, and it’s important for management to recognize them. They are getting oriented with their surroundings as well as details about the task at hand. Management should be setting the stage for success by setting roles and responsibilities, providing instruction, guidance, expectations and structure. (Gervais 2014) Storming stage. At this stage, personalities start to come out (good and bad), group norms and/or cliques begin to form, and conflict between one or more of the members occurs. Management must address deviant behavior(s), misunderstandings, gossip/backtalk, etc and encourage communication, trust, and respect for each other. Norming stage. At this point, team members are conforming, getting along, supporting each other, and behaving in line with accepted and established group norms (such as showing up on time, contributing to the group effort, not speaking over each other, etc). Performing stage. At this stage, the team members’ efforts should be synchronized...
