...its goals as a team. Kathy, a manager at Kudler Fine Foods, sets the tone for her business and evaluate how her employees interact with the core values she sets within her organization. Therefore, personal values can affect the performance as a manager and an employee at Kudler Fine Foods, which shapes the organizational culture. According to my assessment on my personal values from the Williams Institute Ethics Awareness Inventory states that my ethical perspectives focus more on the consequences of my actions, which I look for evidences to base my decisions. Examining Kathy’s perspectives on how she manages Kudler Fine Foods and how she seeks for growth do align with my own perspectives in some ways. For example, the Del Mar location is not doing too well on sales and the market; therefore, Kathy decides to close this location in the near future and re-evaluate her plans on opening another location but with careful research. However, I do not agree with Kathy’s management style in handling the selection of her inventory, her catering business, and financial management because these different job functions occupy most of her time. For example, Kathy is the only one who handles all of these tasks. Besides managing her gourmet store, she also handles her catering business that she does by herself. With any of these tasks, she does not have adequate time to handle the important aspects of her business such as encouraging her staff, training her employees, and interacting with customers...

My ideal work culture not only would benefit my organization to achieve goals but, also will allow me to lead other employees to create a positive working environment therefore creating the by in that is needed to succeed. Strategic Plans are plans that apply to the entire organization. My type of plan will allow me to develop a workplace that will allow the employees to be secure in a stable environment and to express themselves freely. The employees would have clearly defined goals. The company will focus on achieving goals and each person in management would focus on career development. Not only their own but also the people that they are responsible for. I would also require that all managers and employee be ethical people. Any infractions of the ethics policy would be dealt with severely. The purpose for a SWOT analysis is to take a complete look at a business to ensure the success of the company. The Work Culture Activity that I completed identifies what I think is important in accomplishing company goals. After reviewing the results of my activity it shows that the company will be ethical, demanding, fair and supportive of all employees. The SWOT analysis shows strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. The strengths that I have are that I am demanding. You must be demanding in business to get results and to reach your organizational goals. I am also ethical...

...Career Plan Analysis Mary Beth Moser MGT 521 March 22, 2015 Sandra Griffin Career Plan Analysis As I look back to the career plan profiler that was completed during week two of this course, I find interesting items that I did not see at the outset. This course has opened opportunities for additional study in how I manage and how those skills can translate into a desired career path. The profile indicated that, based on the information that I had submitted, I was best suited to be a business development executive. This position would fall into line with what my current responsibilities are in my job. I work directly with business entrepreneurs and, together, we find the best path to achieve success in their company. My current position includes all aspects of their business: advertising, staffing, inventory, event planning, retail sales and training. In our textbook, one of the managers shared a statement that he had received from a higher ranking official while he was in the army. That quote was, “Treat everyone as you would want to be treated, be respectful of them no matter what their rank and they will ensure you succeed. Treat them badly, and you and your team will suffer.” (Coulter & Robbins, 2012, p 458). This is a quote that I try and live by. I believe that by being fair with all staff, success of the whole organization can be achieved. As pointed out throughout the course, success as a manager is comprised of many components. I believe being...

...Running Head: KUDLER’S FINE FOODS PROBLEM Kudler’s Fine Foods Problem Analysis: Marketing Kandace Kendall University of Phoenix Kudler’s Fine Foods Problem Analysis: Marketing Kudler’s Fine Foods is a successful company, with a few issues that need to be worked out. The issues that Kudler’s Fine Foods are dealing with involve management, inventory, marketing, and human resources problems. During week five of our team discussed different issues that are effecting Kudler’s Fine Foods. Each team member talked about a different issue and each of us focused on something different. The issue I focused on the lack of Marketing. Through describing the situation, framing the right problem and describing the end statement and goals, the true problem will arise. Step 1: Situational Analysis Kathy Kudler’s is a superwomen, who does everything from marketing to hiring and firing her employees. She does all the inventory for her company and works seven days a week. She wears many hats and it will one day wear her out. By doing too much she does not have the proper way to advertise effectively to her customers. Kudler’s Fine Foods has three current stores open and are looking to expand to different markets. Kathy does not have a proper team to research each market and get a feel of the demographics. She does not have a web site up and running yet, which will hurt her business in the end. Customers want pre-view what products they could buy or order them off line....

People are key to Wal-Mart's business and it invests time and money in training people, and retaining a developing them. ...Business Analysis Part 1 Javelle Alana Brown MGT 521 May 15, 2012 Dr. Deborah Retzloff Business Analysis Part 1 When deciding to invest in something one should first look at how profitable their return on investment may be, which is also referred to as a ROI. By definition investment is the action or process of investing money for profit or material result. Logically when a person decides to invest they are already looking in the future at the profitable gains he/she may receive. In this paper I will take on the role of a mutual fund manager and discuss my decision whether or not to invest in a Fortune 500 company. I will also conduct a SWOT analysis of the company and discuss the parts of the analysis that are most relevant in my decision to invest in the company. Identifying internal and external stakeholders will also be discussed as well as their wants and needs, and what the company plans on doing to see that they are fulfilled. If the research proves that the stakeholder’s needs are not being met, what will the company do to see that they are? The company that I choose to invest in is Wal-Mart. This company is number 2 on the Fortune 500 list this year. Wal-Mart began in 1962 and was founded by a man named Sam Walton. His idea for his company was to put sales volume before prices. He accepted a slightly lower margin in hopes of driving out competition while achieving an image of lower prices without compromising the quality of his products. His brilliant plan...

...The Pursuit of Happiness and Success Angela Morrow MGT/521 May 5, 2010 Donald Wicker “Success is not the key to happiness, “Happiness is the key to success; if you love what you are doing, you will always be successful. (Albert Schwetzer). Happiness is defined as a state of mind or feeling characterized by contentment, love, satisfaction, pleasure or joy. Success is defined as an event that has accomplished its intended purpose in mind. Happiness and success is what I am aiming for in life. To be able to have a life that is full of happiness is the ultimate achievement and I feel that if I am happy in what I am doing I will truly be successful. In saying that I feel that earning my Masters of Business in Administration degree will enable me to both be happy and successful. About 15 years ago while working for the federally funded program Head Start, My love for children was established and I just knew I wanted to teach, however there was one major road block in my way; no degree. So I returned to school to pursue a degree in Early Childhood Education. After I received my degree I was promoted to a teaching position. I was so happy but not satisfied; I once again returned to school and this time I obtained a bachelors degree in Psychology. I chose these two combinations because I always envisioned myself owning and operating my own preschool that would afford opportunities for the lower socio-economic spectrum of children in our society to engage...

...Why I Pursued my MBA February 8, 2010 MGT/521 Richard Bowman In choosing to pursue my masters in business management (MBA) I never imagined the journey that was ahead of me. The choice to earn my MBA was strictly goal orientated. To stay on task and be focused, I had to set smaller and more attainable goals to help prepare for the end of my journey. When deciding to obtain my MBA it was understandable that there were going to be several obstacles in my way. I found it was easier to start the journey with smaller obtainable units that would reward and keep me focused on the end of the journey and the prize. The journey of obtaining my MBA has been enlightening, revealing and harder than any one person could have ever described. I have had to be driven to achieve my goal for an education. My desire, my determination, obtainable goals, mentors and support have all helped keep me on the road to the prize. Personality tests can be a useful tool to show attributes, preferences, weaknesses and can assist a person or give them a better insight as to this person’s behavior or work style. Personality tests can incorrectly label a person or incorrectly categorize a person. After taking the Jungian 16-Type Personality tests, it was surprising to find that some of the analysis such as defining me as a Type A personality was dead on. The personality tests viewed me as ENFP which was a shock to me. The description and job suggestions matched were nothing...

...General Motors SWOT analysis MGT 521 March 31, 2014 Overview of SWOT matrix “The SWOT matrix is an important matching tool that helps managers develop four strategies.” (David, 2011) This matrix is important to any business because it will show the organizations strengths and weaknesses as well as any opportunities and threats that arise. The SWOT analysis is a great tool for strategic planning, however, it is not as useful for showing how to achieve a competitive advantage. The matrix is divided by SO (strengths –opportunities), WO (weaknesses-opportunities), ST (strengths-threats) and WT (weaknesses-threats). Each type gives a different focus for the organization. Internal Weaknesses and Strengths After the recall of April 2012, and the continuous recalls thereafter, there was a negative impact on the company sales. When looking at the Internals of General Motors, leadership plays a role in the weaknesses that it is having today. The internal strengths of General Motors are a strong market position and brand portfolio. General Motors is brand that people know and respect and many are very loyal to the brand. While using this as a factor, General Motors stated to focus on new research and developments that would give them an advantage over their competition. While they were behind Toyota in the energy efficient car, they are making strides to make their bigger vehicles bore fuel efficient. General Motors is also becoming diversified globally. External...

...University of Phoenix MGT/521 October 5, 2010 The purpose of this paper is to construct and support an argument on the decision I made to pursue a Master’s of Business Administration (MBA) degree to further my career as the head of IT. With today’s society, it is easy to find a subject controversial. The paper will elaborate at the benefits of undertaking MBA program with an emphasis in business management and IT analysis. An argument is an oral disagreement, a verbal opposition or even an altercation. Some may say that it is a discussion involving differing points of view. In the corporate world, debates run rampant on our culture and can be viewed as a constructional tool to improve, advance a roadblock, or the source of a company’s failure. So as a start, referencing the Jungian 16-type personality assessment was the first step. I scored ENFP and agree with the decision. According to the Jungian Assessment, those with the ENFP score are better in business analyst roles and tend to be conscientiousness and critical in the decision making process (Pearson Prentice Hall, 2007). Having a very independent and stubborn nature in both my work and personal life I believe the Jungian 16-type personality assessment supports my decision to further my education and enter the critical field of information technology. The personality assessment specifies that I am extroverted, intuitive, thinker, and judging. I agree with all these statements. I am comfortable walking...

This ideology is true, but for people who also value possessing the free time to enjoy life while in pursuit of financial success this way of life is also very wearing. Investing is a fiscal tool people can use to send their money to work. True investors understand that making their money work presents some risks, but with guidance and thorough analysis they can maximize their earning potential whether or not they receive a raise, decide to work overtime or look for a higher paying job (Investopedia, 2011). With many investment vehicles to choose from such as bonds, mutual funds, and company stocks, the most important thing to remember before investing is to do research and only invest money when there is a realistic probability of revenue. In this paper a Strength, Weakness, Opportunity, and Threat (SWOT) analysis of Apple Inc. was performed to determine if this electronic computer corporation giant is a worthy investment. ...Business Analysis Part II Luberta Agnew MGT/521 May 9, 2011 Phil Norris Business Analysis Part II The only accounting that should be done when researching investments is reading financial statements. You can use the financial statements; income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow, to analyze how well a company is doing financially (Joseph). With the income statement close attention is paid to several numbers with gross profit and net income being the most important. Gross profit is the difference between revenue from sales and the cost of providing the product or service for said sales (Joseph). Net income refers to the amount of money that a firm has left over after paying all of the bills (Joseph). There are several ways to dissect the income statement for Apple, Inc. For example Apple’s net income for the period ending March 26, 2011 was $5,967,000,000 ($5.9 billion) dollars. If you compare this to the previous period, December 25, 2010, $6,004,000,000($6.0 billion) dollars it appears Apple isn’t doing well. Comparing dollars to dollars isn’t the best way to read financial statements, especially when trying to compare Apple’s net income against say Dell’s or Microsoft’s. The best way to compare is to use percentages. Look at Apple’s gross profit for December 25, 2010 (John). It is 10,298,000,000 (the numbers are in thousands). Now look at the gross profit for March 25, 2011, 10,218,000,000. Now divide the most recent year by the previous year and you get a number...
