In this paper I ma going to write about the importance of following a business plan when opening a new business. When opening a new business you need to first have motivation. This is what will drive you to get the things done that are necessary to open your business. Having a business plan that is simple and easy to follow will help in the success of your business. Everything to get a business started relies on how much money you have to get started. If you don't have enough then you need to find ways to raise the fund needed. You don't want to start on something for your business unless you have the funds. This will only make it more difficult and stressful for you.

The two businesses I would like to discuss are the restaurant and extermination business. First the restaurant business. Opening a sports bar today in not a new idea. Lou and Jose are going to need a fresh new idea when entering this market. It could be from the choices of food to the choices of entertainment aside from the large tv's around the bar. Let's face that has already been done. They could have choices like tv bingo or theme night. Whatever they do they need to be original. However there are some things to take care of before they get to this point. They will need to get there liquor license and food license. They will have to pass health and safety inspections before they can even open up the doors for business. They have an investor who has the money they need to get started. They just have to set up the appointments to meet the people to grant them there licenses to sell food and liquor. In order to have bartenders, each bartender will need to be certified. This is required by all states to sell beer as a bartender. Once they have all the certifications and are ready to open they can spend more time on offering entertainment. This will be vital to stand out from other sports bars. If they just do what other bars are doing and offering the same specials they they will not make it. A sports bar has to be one of the toughest businesses to run because you want to stay current so people keep coming back to your bar.

Now for the extermination business. This is a business that deals with exterminating bug's and any other creepy crawly things that might come around. In this business Frank wants to open up his business all across the U.S.. Because he is a sole proprietor he will have total control over his business.
Since Frank has control of his entire business throughout the country he will be responsible for all the costs that come along with being licensed. This will mean that he will have to get a pesticide license. This will be for commercial use so he can take his business country wide. He will need to know that the people that he hires in other states will need to be trusted to do everything right. He will not be able to be in all places at once so he needs the right people in the right positions. This will mean he will have to have managers who understand the business and hire the right employees with theright quaifications.

| | In the construction scenario we see four people that are applying for the job. They are all of different ages and have different skills. Three of the four have previous experience. They are Michelle, Eric and Felipe. In this scenario Michelle clearly only has two choices. Michelle or Nick. The other two applicants do not have a High School diploma which the advertisement for the job clearly states. She is in a tough spot because Michelle's condition although fragile is only temporary. Nick on the other hand his condition can possibly be treated with medication. The scenario does not state this but it is an assumption. There is always the possibility that Mei-Lin can hire one of the other two because they need to fill the position immediately. Most employers will advertise High School diploma is required but will still sometimes hire those who do not have one. I would not think this is unethical because Michelle is pregnant and the job requires that you lift a jack hammer and those are not light. With Nick's condition if he were to have a seizure while operating the jack hammer he could put himself and other coworkers in danger. Although the other two do not have a diploma there doesn't seem to be any health risk involved. Another variable could be that if Michelle is close to giving birth then she could b hired and they could save the position for when she is ready. I just feel that it is an unsafe environment for Nick to be in. Besides Michelle does have experience. I think if you were going to base the decision on Michelle and Nick then she would have to be the one to get the job.

In conclusion There are many steps when it comes to either opening a business or hiring an employee. When opening a business you need to make sure that you have a solid business plan. This is designed to make your life easier because you have a plan. It is important to study the rules and regulations that come along with opening a business. If you want to branch out it to different states or all the states you need to make sure that you follow all the rules that apply to what you are doing. This will take some hard work and determination. When hiring someone where you have multiple applicants it is important to look at all of the people that are applying in a non bias way, You need to make your decision not just on qualifications but on what is the safest route for the company. There might be people that do not meet all of the qualifications you are looking for but if they might be a good fit then they could be trained.
