...this report is to provide the AFL Miami Private Investor Board with the information necessary for assessing the effectiveness and feasibility of this business venture. South Florida is an ideal location to begin a new AFL franchise. The reason for this is due to Florida’s powerful demand for sports, and football in particular. A relatively large percentage of Florida’s GDP is due to a stable sports industry that successfully weathered the recent economic recession. The geography of Florida helps create a loyal fan base with in the region any professional sports team operates. These fan bases are driven by intrastate rivalries, and the fans are not hesitant to pay to see their teams play. These fan bases for the AFL in Orlando, Jacksonville, and Tampa Bay have proven to strong enough to sustain the operations of the franchises. With the closest arena football team playing four to five hours away, this distance is more than enough to dissuade most South Florida natives from attending and supporting the AFL. However, bringing a team to Miami would increase their awareness of the sport and prove to be sustainable. A loyal, lucrative, and intrastate rivalry driven market is what will sustain an AFL Miami franchise. Additionally, the AFL adheres to a spring schedule so as to not compete for fans with other football leagues. In order to properly market this franchise an aggressive marketing campaign will be necessary. Given that Miami is the one of the most diverse regions...

...linked to fame and fortune. New York City we relate to the fast life of chaos. Yet when you hear Miami, you know you’re getting yourself into the scene of sun, beaches and partying. Miami is a great place to live in. Being that I was born and raised in Miami, the beach life is the only life I've ever known--if you know anything about Miami, you know the partying just comes with the beaches. It was the ideal Saturday to be out enjoying summer-97 degree weather, clear cloud free skies, and the absolute warmth it brought to be off from school and work. South beach here in Miami is filled with dozens of people at all times of the day; it then sinks in how truly great it feels to be in Miami. Walking down Collin Road, you start losing track at the diversity of people Miami really has. It's a great thing to see the many different faces, color, sizes and personality the world has, all available in one strip of Miami. It's noon time approaching Mango's Restaurant and Bar. Me and friends already know the day that lies ahead is full of positive energy. The funnest part is enjoying lunch, or should I say happy hour, viewing the beach scenery. From this point on the only cold we felt were the tropical drinks that were adding up, because on top of us the sun was as its best. I think we'd all agree that 2010 was a noticeable change in whether, where hot couldn't be defined anywhere better than in Miami. Rosy cheeks, loud laughing, and the tab amount (which is better we can't recall now a day)...

...Miami is home to many attractions that catch the attention of tourists from all over the world. Some of these attractions include South Beach and Aventura Mall. Despite having these attractions and so many more, there is one central area that I feel represents Miami so very well. That area is Downtown. In Downtown Miami, you witness the diverse cultures we have, the multitude of attractions, and the nature and genuine appreciation of the environment. There is so much to say about Miami, but Downtown has the perfect mix of it all. Diversity is always the first thing any tourist notices about Miami, and Downtown has plenty of it. Part of the reason why there is so much diversity Downtown is because Miami Dade College – Wolfson Campus is located there, so students and professors of all races, religions, sexualities, and backgrounds are all in that one area constantly. There are also many establishments for employment that cater to all people....

...If you ask some people to describe a place that represents Miami, an abundance of people would immediately describe Miami Beach. On the contrary, when I think of a place that represents Miami, I think of Bayside. Why Bayside? Well, because of its boisterous nightlife, dazzling scenery, and multicultural inhabitants. Imagine driving down the filled streets of downtown Miami and just getting an ear full of that flavorful Latin music, then you arrive at the Bayside marketplace and catch a whiff of that a wonderful aroma on each side of where you are currently standing. Once you open your eyes you catch a glimpse of abstract paintings, colors, and shapes everywhere. Dazzled by the immediate array of colors and some of the best scents that I have ever experienced, coming here is one of the best experiences that I have ever come across. Miami is known for its tropical weather year-round, so anytime someone decides to go for a little exploring near the ocean it will be a pleasant experience. When going to a place like Bayside gyrating dancers, flavorful music, and tasty cocktails will be found throughout all the place one goes to. Interesting enough once you mingle with the people around you, you start to realize that these people have nothing in common, that everyone has a different background. At first, it is a bit odd that everyone is so happy and...

...Week 4 Individual The average person enjoys their lives for many reasons. Some may point to their family, others point towards their careers, and some may focus on the material things. However, what some may not admit to is, that being able to predict the events that shape their daily lives gives them a sense of serenity. The drawing of a simple line can disrupt this serenity, and cause a public uproar to thousands if done correctly. A scenario such as this will be discussed concerning the redrawing of school boundaries in the Miami Florida school districts. The unexpected increases in enrollment have forced the school board to redistribute the students across the various schools in the area. Question of how this will affect the lives of those being forced to change schools will be covered. The discussion will consider quality of education, increased travel times, the crossing of economic and cultural boundaries, property values, as well as the social effects on the children. We will consider who the stakeholders are, the negotiation strategy of the school board, and conclude with the ethical and cultural effect of the decision. When the lines are drawn those doing so approach it by way of necessity not popularity. These lines do not take into consideration how they affect the neighborhoods they divide. They do not consider who the stakeholders are. The stakeholders are not limited to merely the students and their parents who live in the area. They include many others...

...Juwan Howard was only 23 years old, when he was drafted into the National Basketball Association. Juwan was known for a hard working man, which acted responsibly with dignity and class, off the basket ball court and everywhere. During 1996 and 1997 in his sophomore season, besides becoming a Superstars, he was the highest paid basketball among other players, but the NBA voided his contract soon after. Howard had no choice but to return to the Bullets, signing a contract for seven-year that was worth $100 million. During this case study, the learning team B will evaluate the costs, benefits and risk of negotiation from the perspective of all parties associated with the case study analysis of “Power Play for Howard”. Case Summary The Miami Heat felt that having Juwan Howard on their team would take them to victory since they had not win for the last 6 years. Juwan Howard talent would definitely increase the chances of having a good year in winning. However, keeping Alonzo Mourning another talented player was important to the team also, therefore, Riley promised him “ to make him the highest paid player on the team” which conflicted with Howard’s contract. The NBA identified a problem with the negotiation of Howard’s contract. They observed an overpayment of four million, which exceeded the salary caps. This overpayment comes with a $5 million penalty to the team. So, the NBA dissolved Howard’s contract before he was able to sign it. In the mean time, Howards’s agent (David...

...Lyon Margaret Morrison 11/12/2013 Legal Environment of Business Tues/Thurs 12:30-1:45 pm Hostile Environment in the Workplace and the Miami Dolphins A hostile work environment includes any situation targeting race, color, religion, sex, national origin and even such aspects such as pregnancy, age or disability that affects a person’s ability to perform in the workplace. In this short analysis, I will go on to discuss racial discrimination, an ongoing issue in some workplaces, despite all the progress and efforts our country has made over the years. The NFL, a very culturally diverse organization, much like any professional sport in America, is starting an investigation into one of the Miami Dolphins’ players, Richie Incognito for his racist attacks on his teammate Johnathon Martin. The Miami Dolphins suspended Incognito around midnight on November 3rd. Incognito did many things to create a hostile work environment for Martin. He sent him text messages threatening to kill him, he forced Martin to pay $15,000 for a trip to Vegas, along with the thousands of verbal assaults. Martin was afraid to speak up, being only a second year player, in fear of being called soft. However it seems that this is no longer an innocent hazing affair as it is extortion and intimidation. Finally, Martin took the high road, and walked away from the Miami Dolphins. Making him look like more of a man, than Incognito will ever look. Now unfortunately, this isn’t the only instance, many of the...

...For this assignment I chose Double Jeopardy from CSI Miami, season four episode eighteen. In this episode a husband is found innocent of his wife's murder just as her missing body is being pulled from the ocean by a fisherman. March 26 Mr. Rowe discovered his wife’s racial status and she disappeared on October 5th but the husband waited 3 days to report her death. During this time he practiced killing Terisa Matherdy. Losing four twenty lb weight set in the process. The CSI team must try to find new evidence linking the husband to the deed since he can't be tried again with the same evidence...as it is considered "Double Jeopardy." A little evidence and timely confessions shows that the husband and his girlfriend did, indeed, kill the wife Melisa Rowe. My uncle Lieutenant Steve Helm stated that he has seen CSI more often driving a 1990's pickup truck rather than a $60,000 Hummer, as seen on the show CSI. But when you’re a movie star you can drive whatever company is paying the advertising bills. In Hollywood’s depicture of real life organizations this type of flashy brand new equipment is expected. Forensic scientists are rarely actually involved in solving cases, as the show depicts. A team of scientists is usually called out once a month to a crime scene to investigate fingerprints, firearms, trace evidence, document blood splatter patterns, collect footprints and tire prints, footwear patterns, and other evidence. My uncle said, “Forensic scientists rarely go to most...

...The Miami school district is experiencing a common problem which many thriving cities face, rapid increase in enrollment. Increase in enrollment occurs due to the following reasons; demographics, location and economy (Miami Dade County School District, 2012). In order to adjust and accommodate the unexpected increase in enrollment, the school boundaries for the following year will be revised. The school board has hired experts to redraw the boundaries and notified parents of the changes that will occur next year. This paper addresses the concerns of the stakeholders, the negotiation strategy used by school board, and the ethical/cultural effect of the decision. Under the revised plan many students will not be able to continue their education at their present school. The decision was unexpected and many parents are outraged by the school board’s decision. The school board received several complaints from parents which voiced their concerns regarding the decision. The parents raised the following concerns: - Quality of education - Increased travel time - Crossing economic and cultural boundaries - Effect on property values - Social effects on children Parents are concerned that the quality of their children’s education will be compromised by the new plan.
