The question of the greatest has been asked since the beginning of time. It is one of the most debated questions especially in the NBA. The conversation had gone on since the beginning of the game. The older fans of the game would say players like Bill Russell, Wilt Chamberlain while the younger fans would say players like Kobe Bryant and Lebron James. However there is always a silver lining in situations and one could say that the lining in this situation is Michael Jordan. The only time that Michael Jordan failed at basketball is when he did not make his high school team. After that he went on to have one of the most illustrious basketball careers ever. The basic definition says something that is above average and if we are talking about Michael Jordan he was definitely above average. ”Michael Jordan is regarded as the greatest basketball player of all time.” (Olympic) He was a celebrity ever since he hit the game winning shot in the championship game for the University of North Carolina people knew the name Michael Jordan. They first knew him as the kid that was clutch enough to make a game winning shot when he was a sophomore. Then he was the third pick in the 1984 NBA Draft to the Chicago Bulls and he was the rookie that was supposed to change the franchise and become the face of not only the NBA but the face of the sport of basketball for the world. Stories about his competitiveness is almost as scary as the prospect of going up against him. He had a killer instinct that no one else had or will ever had. Other players were literally scared to play him. They were afraid to look him in the eye. “While MJ played with the big club during spring, he played the entire '94 season with the Double-A Birmingham Barons, never played in a regular season MLB game...” (MLB) He played for the Chicago White socks until getting moved down to play for their minor league team the Birmingham Barons. After 2 years of baseball it was obvious that Jordan was more of a great impact in the NBA then in MLB so he decided to return to his former team the Chicago Bulls where he would lead them to another 3 straight NBA titles and a 72-10 record in 1995-96 which is the best record a NBA team has ever recorded even to this day. Jordan would win two more Most valuable player rewards upon his return back to the NBA but would soon retire again after the 1998-99 season.
