Michael Pollan, author of Why Bother? used very strategic methods, provoking the reader to actively become more conscious of individual “eco-mantra” acts that could benefit our planet in the long run. His interrogative introduction instantly posed the question: why bother? Throughout the essay Pollan later answers that question with concerning statistics. The conclusion is looking to the future. For example, he goes on to say, “Chances are, your garden will re-engage you with your neighbors, for you will have produce to give away and the need to borrow their tools.
