...Word provides options to change a document’s onscreen appearance by viewing the document in Full Screen, Web Layout, Outline, and Draft views. Word has a variety of options for opening an existing document and viewing a document. You can enable features to show gridlines, thumbnails, and rulers to help in navigating the document or you can zoom in or out. Word enables you to open existing fi les in one of three forms: as an original document, as a copy of a document, or as a read-only document. Word has five Document View options: • Print Layout is the default view. It displays the document as it will look when printed and enables you to use the Ribbon to create and edit your document. • Full Screen Reading view is made for reading documents onscreen. Options are available for customizing this view. • Web Layout view shows how the document would look as a Web page. • Outline view displays the document as an outline and offers an outline tab with commands for creating and editing outlines. • Draft view is strictly for editing text. Advanced elements such as charts, graphs, pictures, and other objects are hidden in this view. The commands in the Window command group are as follows: • The New Window button opens a new window displaying the current document; this window shows the document name in the title bar followed by the number 2. Each new window you open in the same document receives a chronologically numbered name. • The Arrange All button displays two...

...across the top of the page On Microsoft Word 2010, it includes a ribbon along the top which consists of a horizontal row of commands the user can navigate to; with tabs such as Home, Insert, Page Layout etc. In turn, this is then split up into different buttons and other controls the user can access quickly and efficiently. Evaluating this ribbon, I have also observed that the font and size of the text is clear for the user which increases the readability. The ribbon works very successfully because, for example when you paste a picture into the document and click on it, it communicates with the system and the tab for ‘Picture Tools’ appears. Having this feature is very beneficial because it means that the user can edit the picture/graphic almost immediately. This is a very constructive feature for the user because it increases the accessibility, due to the certain groups they are broken down in and the more experienced users would be able to produce very professional documents faster when they have got used to the concise system layout. However for a new user this may take more time to navigate to the control they wish, because of the vast number of controls they are able to access. If I was to improve the ribbon along the top of the screen, I suggest breaking the tabs down even more to be more specific and increase the suitability for users, who wish to navigate to sections quickly. * Quick access toolbar Another useful element in Microsoft word is the quick access toolbar...

...Microsoft Word has brought forth a whole new experience in putting letters and even term papers together. It is constantly keeping up with the every changing ways people do things. As our world of technology tends to grow, Microsoft consistently keeps up to satisfy and benefit their users. Papers and letters used to be just the same old boring typeface and format that you would only get by typing on a typewriter. But Microsoft Word has been able to give people an advanced way to liven up a paper or letter. With the newest Microsoft Word version, it actually will do the paper or letter for you while all you have to do is just fill in the blanks. Microsoft Word first was introduced to the computer and technology world in 1990. It was developed by Charles Simonyi and Richard Brodie. They were hired by the original CEO of Microsoft, Bill Gates in 1981. Gates along with his partner Paul Allen, needed to give the world a reason to really dive into the computer world. They felt the only way possible would be if they introduced a way for people to be able to write their letters on a space that could be saved forever without having to make photocopies as well as being able to have assistance with the format of a letter and spelling errors. Hence the first version of Word was introduced in 1983 but it was far from successful and Simonyi and Brodie were sent back to the drawing board. Over the next several years, four more versions were introduced that were no better than the original...

...Systems Microsoft Word 2010 Product Guide Microsoft Word 2010 is a more advanced program than earlier versions which has been modified and enhanced to better serve the public’s needs. The Microsoft Word 2010 Product Guide describes the differences and improvements for this program. The following pros and cons are things that I found to be helpful and some things that need to be improved. A clear positive feature of the user’s manual is that it highlights the new aspects of the 2010 version of Microsoft Word. This is a marketing plus that caught my attention. One improvement to Microsoft Word 2010 is picture editing where you can edit photos without the need for other editing programs. There are many options to change the photos, including sharpen and soften, brightness and contrast, photocopy, marker, line drawing, glass, pastels and more. There is also a new feature that can remove the background to display exactly what is desired to be shown in the picture. The manual includes an explanation of how to navigate to the proper place for the picture editing. Screen shot is another feature that I find useful. To be able to capture a screen shot within Word makes the process much more convenient than going through other programs then transferring it to Word. There are clear cut instructions to show where to go to use the screen shot method. The improvement of spell checker not only catches the misspelled word, but...

...Critique of Microsoft Word User Manual The key to beginning anything is a good introduction, be it a book, an essay, and editorial, and yes, even a user manual. I especially enjoyed the Introduction to the user manual for Microsoft Word 2007. It begins with an introduction to the authors that contributed to the user manual, telling us about their fields of expertise and experience in technical writing. Such an introduction assures the reader that what they are about to read comes from those that have much experience in the area and that the user manual will be as informative as they hope to expect. It then goes on to describe what is new in Microsoft Word 2007, at first glance you can already tell that Word 2007 is more beautiful pleasing, but this section goes beyond the obvious make over to describe new and different features from previous versions of MS Word which helps the end user learn what to expect and what to watch out for if they encounter a feature that is unfamiliar to them.. The experience of the author’s technical writing skills really shows. Everything is clear and concise. Even the most basic of beginners should have no troubles learning the software through this user manual, they keep things simple without using sentences that run on and on. However, I searched high and low looking for anything that would help to describe what certain terminologies such as “footnote” or “bullets” mean. The manual is pretty extensive so I may have just overlooked it. But if...

...are constantly under pressure to keep up with ever-changing technology developments. The office workplace is changing rapidly and administrative professionals have greater responsibilities than ever before. What are the uses of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint in the workplace today and how do they make work easier for employers and employees? Imagine being in an office five, ten, or even fifteen years ago and you have to create a financial report for your investors. Computers are not there and you have to have a description of the past year's income and expenses, and also planned income and expenses for the coming year. You are to prepare financial charts of income and expenses accompanied by charts and graphs. Writing it all out, getting the graphics perfect, editing it all and then typing it all up, getting it copied and ready for your presentation would be a very discouraging task. Without the office tools of today, you would be writing on chalk boards and using charts created on pieces of paper. Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint are available in most desktop publishing programs for preparing, editing, or handling any type of document you might need to work with. The uses of these programs are: • Microsoft Word Is a program used to create letters, reports, invitations and flyers for all types of businesses. ...MARKET STRUCTURES MARKET STRUCTURE In economics, market structure (also known as market form) describes the state of a market with respect to competition. MAJOR MARKET FORMS The major market forms are: • • • • • Perfect competition, in which the market consists of a very large number of firms producing a homogeneous product. Monopolistic competition, also called competitive market, where there are a large number of independent firms which have a very small proportion of the market share. Oligopoly, in which a market is dominated by a small number of firms which own more than 40% of the market share. Monopoly, where there is only one provider of a product or service. Natural monopoly, a monopoly in which economies of scale cause efficiency to increase continuously with the size of the firm. The imperfectly competitive structure is quite identical to the realistic market conditions where some monopolistic competitors, monopolists, oligopolists, and duopolists exist and dominate the market conditions. These somewhat abstract concerns tend to determine some but not all details of a specific concrete market system where buyers and sellers actually meet and commit to trade. The correct sequence of the market stucture from most to least competitive is perfect competition, monopolistic competition, oligopoly, and pure monopoly. The main criteria by which one can distinguish between different market structures are: the number and size of producers and consumers in the market,...

...Top 5 Signs of Deficiency of Calcium Since calcium is an essential element for bones, a deficiency of calcium affects bones the most severely. One of the initial symptoms of calcium deficiency is muscle cramps. This sign of deficiency of calcium occurs as the initial alarm towards the decrease of calcium in the body. Muscles ache, especially those of the thighs, arms, and underarms while moving and walking around may be a sign of calcium deficiency. Another important sign of the deficiency of calcium in the body is insomnia. In many cases, people who do not consume enough calcium in their diet suffer from loss of sleep. In certain cases, it is seen that a person, due to calcium deficiency, may fall asleep, but will not have a satisfactory or deep sleep. Calcium is also an important constituent for our teeth. Thus, deficiency of calcium in the body affects the teeth as well. Tooth decay is another sign of calcium deficiency in the body. Due to calcium deficiency in childhood, there may be delay in the initial start of tooth formation. Calcium deficiency results in poor bone density. This can be quite a serious condition for children as it may lead to easy fractures, muscular aches, and spasms, and – in extreme cases – rickets. Our nails also require calcium in adequate amounts to grow healthy and remain strong. Weak and brittle nails are another important sign of calcium deficiency in the body. Late signs of puberty in the case of adolescent females are also...
