7. Know what chapter of Acts gives the account of the Jerusalem Council and what happened there.
Acts 15, The church was arguing over if you must be circumcised to be saved. Paul and Barnabas went up to address this problem. The Pharisees insisted that the Gentiles must be circumcised to be saved, they must obey the law of Moses. Paul argues that now your heart is purified by faith, not circumcision, and that is is through the faith of Jesus that you are saved. After Paul and Barnabus spoke of this James spoke and said that instead of making it so difficult for the Gentiles we should write to them and tell them to abstain from sexual immorality and so forth… Then the church chose men t send to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas (Judas and Silas). So they went to Antioch then split in groups of two again. Later Paul and Barrnabas had a disagreement because Barnabas wanted to take Mark with them to visit some old towns they went to, but Paul didn’t think it was a good idea. So they parted and Barnabas took mark and said to Cyprus and Paul took Silas and went through Syria and Cilicia.
