...MIKE TYSON PSYCHOANALYTIC REPORT PSYCHOLOGY DR WHITELY QUINISE CAMPBELL August 26, 2014 I chose for my subject Michael Gerard “Mike” Tyson. Mike Tyson is an American retired professional boxer. What attracted me to pick Mike Tyson was that I felt that he was a gentle giant that has been misunderstood in this life. So with this psychoanalytic study we are going to break down the myths that people think about him. I know this is not supposed to be a biography about the life of Mike Tyson; but to give some insight on which of the 7 psychology’s major perspectives I chose you have to know a little about his background. At an early age Tyson’s parent separated, leaving him to be raised by a single mother, he witnessed a horrific and gruesome atmosphere of crime, drugs, and violence. He had never had a physical altercation at that point in his life, but after continually being bullied Tyson finally stood up for himself when another boy grabbed his pet pigeon and broke its neck. Tyson describes that as his first fight, and it was the one that started his continual fighting in the streets and also the development of his criminal behavior. I think that the early stages of his life fall under the Socioculture perspective level. The values and beliefs transmitted from his social and cultural environment played a huge part in all of the trouble that he got into as a child and as adolescent. John Locke once proposed that humans are born with a blank slate (tabula rasa) into the...

...Jared Dickerson PSYC120-1204A-3 The Mind of A champion: Profile on Mike Tyson November 11, 12 What the first thing that comes to mind when you think of Mike Tyson? The man who once told a reporter he was going to rape him? Or, the man who overcame the odds rose to the top to become champion? I choose to do a psychological sketch on Tyson because he was once the richest and best-known athlete in the world, but still remains one of the hardest people to understand. Mike Tyson was born June 30th 1966 in Brooklyn, New York. By the age of two he was living with his 5 siblings in a single parent household in Brownsville New York, one of the toughest neighborhoods in the city. Having being exposed to domestic violence at an early age, Tyson would build a love for training pigeon as an escape of his reality. At age 9, a 15-year-old gang member decapitated one of Tyson’s beloved pigeons by turning it’s head slowly till it snapped off. Seeing this Tyson attacked the boy like a wild animal and brutally beat him. From that point Tyson reputation began to grow in his neighborhood. Tyson was quoted in an interview stating, “I never saw my mother happy with me and proud of me for doing something. She only knew me as being a wild kid running the streets, coming home with new clothes that she knew I didn't pay for. I never got a chance to talk to her or know about her. Professionally, it has no effect, but it's crushing emotionally and personally." If a child doesn’t...

...Name : Muhammad Muzammil Class : PE25 Individual Research on Speakers Sound can be generated with the aid of a speaker. A low cost speaker could produce sound as an output in a circuit. A driver circuit is helpful in increasing its current to achieve the volume desired. One of the ways to generate an audio is using a hardware pulse-width modulation (PWM) output. It is a technique to encode a message into a pulsating signal. The codes can be encoded for transmitting messages, controlling the power that is supplied to the circuit, and into the output such as motors. The PWM period can be set to 1/frequency of the desired sound and the duty cycle could be set to 0.5. In order to increase the volume produced, the duty cycle needs to be increased. However since it is a square wave or pulse, there will also be frequencies of harmonics produced. The benefit of using a PWM hardware is that it requires minimal memory and no processor time to produce an audio output. It also works well with digital control that could set the duty cycle easily. In the project we are using speakers to give a sound output when approaching obstacles. Audio Sound Transducers could also be used. It includes sensors that can convert electrical signal into sound produced by a speaker. It could also be used to convert sound waves detected by a moving type microphone which uses electromagnetic induction, into an electrical signal. ...Sir George Sansom’s history of Japan was first published in 1932 and used in U.S. college classrooms into the 1980s. In it, he described the Tokugawa period (1603-1868) as an era of oppressive “feudal” rule. In this view, hierarchical divisions between samurai, peasant, artisan, and merchant were strictly maintained. Sansom described a system in which swaggering samurai used their swords to cut down commoners. Miserable peasants barely eked out a living, and urban merchants were scorned as unethical profiteers. According to Sansom, change was loathed. The government kept the rest of the world out, denying “themselves all the gifts which the West then had to offer.” This move, said Sansom, “arrested the cultural development of Japan” (Sansom 1932, 455, 457). Scholars today largely dismiss this view. Yet it remains pervasive. Films and manga comics glorify samurai bravado. But they ignore much else about the period. Thus, even the well-informed often are surprised when they read more recent histories of the period. Such newer works describe the political system as a rational “integral bureaucracy.” This system was “not merely a samurai institution.” Rather, it depended on non-elite “commercial agents and activities” (Totman 1981, p. 133). Newer histories call the era “a time of extraordinary social growth and change. In terms of population and production, urbanization and commercialization, and societal sophistication and elaboration, the century was one of unparalleled...

...Describe the role of information technology in a supply chain. Chopra & Meindl (2013) asserts that information is crucial to the performance of a SC because it provides the basis on which SC managers make decisions. Chopra et. al (2013) goes on to say that IT consists of the tools uses to gain awareness of information, analyze the information, and execute on it to improve the performance of the SC. In order to support SC decions, information must have the following characteristics (Chopra et. al 2013): • Information must be accurate - Without a 360-degree multi-spectral view of the operational status & health of the SC, then managers cannot make informed decisions to improve SC performance. The other important piece of this is that the artificial intelligence component of the SC (Intuitive Human-Machine Interface) is only as accurate as the information inputs from people. If network partners provide information that is not accurate & truthful, then SC managers will attempt to solve problems and systemic issues with only a partial view of the situation, thereby, potentially compounding the problem instead of fixing it. • Information must be accessible in a timely manner - As a former manufacturing engineer, I sometimes found myself in situations where the managers instructed us to make certain problems go away, but without providing us with enough information so that we could begin assembling a viable engineering solution. My thought at the time was, “how can I apply...

...1) Freud could explain the personality differences between Mike and Marty Scanlon by saying that he believes much of our behavior is motivated by the unconscious, a part of the personality that contains the memories, knowledge, beliefs, feelings, urges, drives and instincts of which the individual is not aware of. Mike encountered some type of conflict during a stage in his life. It was most likely the phallic stage. If a problem occurred during this stage, they might produce an adult who fails to develop a conscience and has improper sex-role behavior. Marty would be viewed as he passed through that stage with no problem. 2) According to the Big Five personality traits Mike was careless, impulsive and disorganized. He was always in trouble and had absolutely no cares in the world. He would be rated highly in openness to experience and lowly in conscientiousness, highly in extraversion and lowly in agreeableness, and highly in neuroticism or emotional stability. Marty was quite, sympathetic, kind and appreciative, stable, calm, secure, and did not drink alcoholic beverages. He would be rated highly in openness to experience, highly in conscientiousness and lowly in extroversion, highly in agreeableness and in neuroticism or emotional stability. 3) Given that Mike and Marty are twins and share some of their genetic makeup, but I do not believe they have pronounced difference in personality. It was determined that genes do play a part in our personality, but both heredity...
