...Milestone One: Rule-oriented Games (Physical Domain) Section A: Knowledge of the Developmental Milestones During middle childhood, children’s play undergoes several changes, the most obvious of which is children engage in games with rules. These rule-oriented games include informally organized games as well as formally organized sports, such as little league, club or intramural sports. The former category may be variants on popular sports games, well-known childhood games such as red rover, and invented games that children develop on their own. The principal commonality is that these games have a set of rules and often have multiple roles for players. While informal outdoor play allows children to develop rules and try out multiple scenarios, formal, organized sports allows children to learn rules, appreciate their personal skills, and develop their position on a team. Both types of rule-oriented games are important for developing social competencies and enhanced cognitive capabilities. This milestone develops as children begin to develop more improved motor coordination, a better capacity for information processing, and a heightened social maturity (Berk, 2007, p. 294). The physical skills at play in rule-oriented games include flexibility, balance, agility, and force, reflective of increased muscle strength. All four of these are basic motor capacities which become more refined with the gross motor development of middle childhood. Additionally, children’s enhanced capacity...

...to get parents involved. (Robbins 629) We find the organization at the Storming Stage. This stage is one of intra-group conflict. Members accept the existence of the group but resist the constraints it imposes on individuality. There is conflict over who will control the group and what path the organization will take to meet its mission. (Robbins 275). Every organization needs to understand that although they will all go through these challenges, the each group needs to contribute in order to meet mission .The internal process is brought about within each group’s individual strengths: 1. The School District has the teaching ability and the backing of the union. 2. The Woodson Group operating as a fundraising and networking powerhouse. 3. The NCPIE knows what the parents of the community need in order to get more involvement from students and parents alike. Though each group argues over who is best suited to lead the organization, each group also agrees that the end result is to be in the improvement that will be realized by its students. The Woodson group should have come to the table with a plan that incorporated all three organizations strengths and weaknesses in...

...Cognitive Developmental Milestones Cognitive milestones represent important steps forward in a child's development. Throughout human history, babies were often thought of as simple, passive beings. Prior to the 20th-century, children were often seen simply as miniature versions of adults. It wasn't until psychologists like Jean Piaget proposed that children actually think differently that adults do that people began to view childhood and adolescence as a unique period of growth and development. Adults often dismissed the remarkable intellectual skills of infants and very young children, but modern thinkers and researchers have discovered that babies are in fact always learning, thinking and exploring the world around them. Even newborn infants are actively taking in information and learning new things. In addition to gathering new information about the people around and world around them, babies are also constantly discovering new things about themselves. From Birth to 3 Months The first three months of a child's life are a time of wonder. Major developmental milestones at this age are centered on exploring the basic senses and learning more about the body and the environment. During this period, most infants begin to: * See objects more clearly within a distance of 13 inches * Focus on moving objects, including the faces of caregivers * Tell between sweet, salty, bitter and sour tastes * Detect differences in pitch and volume * See all colors in the human...

...Case Study By Virgilio John Costin For GM591 – Leadership and Organizational Behavior Professor Bhupinder S. Sran Keller Graduate School of Management March 24, 2013 Contents 1. Group Development 3 2. Problem Identification 3 3. Retrospective Evaluation 4 4. Reflection 4 Bibliography 5 1. Group Development According to the text, there are five stages of group or “team” development which are as follows: a. Forming – where the team members get to know one another b. Storming – at this stage, the group is defining tasks to be performed and are also dealing with any group tensions. c. Norming – where the group begins to work together and building relationships d. Performing – the stage where the group’s relationship matures and complex tasks are handled creatively. This is when the group is most stable. e. Adjourning – the stage where the work is completed and the group disbands. I believe that Christine’s group is still at the storming stage because the group has not reached cohesion to be classified as being within the norming stage. The fact is, Mike seems to be in limbo somewhere and sees himself as still somewhat of an outsider especially when he encountered the group in the cafeteria having an impromptu meeting. Although Christine seems to be an organized person, her demeanor in dealing with Mike’s issues shows a lack of leadership skills. Having knowledge of group development would have given her concise...

The Sony chief was speaking to the media during his first visit to Singapore since he took over the company helm in 2005. One area in which Sony is leading the industry is OLED (organic light-emitting diode) television sets—a "true major milestone", said Stringer. The company first launched its OLED product last December in Japan, released it in North America early this year and is now introducing it in Europe. "Other companies are advertising the same thing for the future but we have it now," he proclaimed. Some of that innovation has also taken place aroundsoftware, an area the company was not known for. Stringer pointed out that he took over a company that was hardware-focused and vertically organized, but the business was increasingly about designing a "software product". To drive interaction...

This change has led to many great advances, including the development of touch screen technology. Through the use of touch screen technology, the operator is given an alternative method of how he or she can interact with a device. This technology operates in four distinct ways: Resistive systems, capacitive systems, surface acoustic wave and infrared systems. This paper will investigate, discuss, and compare these different technologies, focusing on the differences in application, aspects of sustainability, as well as the positive and negative qualities. In addition to which this paper will also include the components of touch screen and the science behind it. This paper will also throw light on...

...Reflections on Getting Tings Done Getting Things Done-How to make a team work was written by Maurice Hardaker and Bryan K. Ward. The author introduces a technique to get a team to achieve its mission, which is called PQM or Process Quality Management. The PQM session is a two-day meeting of relevant managers to define goals, assume responsibilities and determine actions. The session includes the following steps: (1) The fist step in PQM is to develop a clear understanding of the team’s mission, what its members collectively are paid to do. It is important that the mission statement must be explicit and expressed in short. (2)The second step is to define the subgoals for the mission, which are called the Critical Success Factors or CSFs. Consensus on these aims is vital. In listing the CSFs of the mission, a team should be guided by a necessary-sufficient rule. That is, the CSFs should be necessary and sufficient to accomplish its mission. The list should be a mix of tactical and strategic factor. The maximum number CSFs is eight. (3) The third step is to identify and list what has to be done so that a team can meet its critical success factors. The author recommends an effective approach to list the business processes sufficient to accomplish the goals and assign one owner to hold responsible for each business process. A grid is used to list the CSFs and business processes. Graphing makes priorities clear. (4) The PQM process is never-ending journey that needs follow-through...

...virtually all of the cases, by a G380R mutation in fibroblast growth factor receptor 3 (FGFR3) (Di Rocco F et al 2014). FGFR3 is also important in craniofacial, vertebral and neurological development such that this mutation has multiple effects in an affected individual (Horton WA et al 2007). Clinical Presentation Gross motor development frequently is delayed. Motor milestones such as head control and independent sitting, standing, and ambulation may lag by 3-6 months. Speech and language problems may be caused by tongue thrust (due to abnormal maxillomandibular relationship) but often resolve spontaneously. Twenty percent of patients experience delayed speech acquisition. Cognitive skills are preserved, and the intelligence level is within normal limits. Cranial enlargement and poor head control place the infant at risk for extension injuries. An Australian study assessed the functional milestones of achondroplasia children aged 3-7 years. The data noted that while milestones were delayed across all ages studied, functioning improved between age 3 and 5 years, although not subsequently. Access to clinicians skilled in achondroplasia management may assist these children to become more independent (Ireland PJ et al 2011). Standing height is below the third percentile for both sexes. The mean adult standing height for men is 132 cm (52 in), and that for women is 125 cm (49 in). Sitting height, a reflection of trunk length, is within normal limits. Seventy-five...

Most customer’s information, financial records, medical records, and sales records are stored on computers today. Clients and the government expect business to maintain the availability, integrity and confidentiality of their information. The project was created to address the importance of Information Security Management and compliance for businesses in the financial sector. ABC Loans are a small independently owned payday loan company. The client was concerned about the recent penetration of local business networks and wanted me to perform an assessment on his network and determine the vulnerable areas of his networks and the recommendations for making it more secure and GLBA compliant; now that the assessment is completed the client is aware of the vulnerabilities and the areas where they are not meeting GLBA requirements.
