...Milford Central School (Oyez). The Good News Club, which is now an iconic model for most religious after-school clubs, desired access to Milford Central School which regularly allowed community clubs to meet in its building. When they were denied access to it because of their religious beliefs, the club leaders soon took their dilemma to court. Milford Central School argued that the Establishment Clause, which “prohibits government actions that unduly favor one religion over another,” did not allow the school to give the Good News Club access to their building. The Supreme Court ruled that because the Good News Club was using its freedom of speech right and the act of barring it from using the school as meeting ground would restrict this right, the Milford Central School must allow the club to meet in their building. The vote count was 6-3, but many people's opinions differed from the ruling of the Supreme Court Judges. According to a poll conducted by Oregon Live, an extension of The Oregonian, a newspaper published in Portland, Oregon, the margin between those who agreed and disagreed was a single percent. 44% supported...

...youth wrestlers to come and get stronger and better for the next wrestling season to come. We will also hold strength and conditioning classes year round for individuals that are trying to become stronger, faster, and just all around a better player at their specific sport. Total population of milford 51,857 and out of that 10,432 are 18 or under the age of the 18. So basically there will have 5-10% of that 10,432 become members (1,042). There will be The culture of this club is to provide nothing but the best and have you come out of any program doing a lot better than before you started. The way this will happen is by us working closely on form and making sure that we are capitalizing on mistakes so that our wrestlers and strength + conditioning group don't make those mistakes again. This gym will be located in Milford Connecticut. The reason for this is because milford is surrounded by many schools (3 of which are high schools) and these schools have wrestling as well as other sports. Also milford has 51,000 people living in it 20.1% of which are 18 or under the age of 18. This will be good because our main goal is to get youth and high school wrestlers/sports players to come in. Also milford is within 15-20 minutes from other towns such as Branford (22 mins), East Haven (19 mins), Stratford (9 mins), Shelton (16 mins). All these towns have high schools in them which have wrestlers and other sport players. The reason I chose this model for this location was simply because it's in...

...One of the biggest highlights of November across the nation is the start of sports like basketball, gymnastics and a wind down of sports like volleyball, football and cross country. In Oakland county Michigan, one of the the highpoints of the fall is the state finals for cross country. For high schools across Oakland county Michigan, the cross county state finals took place in the beginning of November and led to one high school winning their first ever state title. Lakeland High School and Milford High School showed up to the cross country state finals to take the title. The article “Lakeland, Milford grab D1 state titles” was written by Marvin Goodwin and printed in the Oakland Press. The article was printed on November 6, just after the state finals took place on November 5. The title was given to the article because the Lakeland boys cross country team and Milford girls cross country team are joined together as Huron Valley schools and both received state titles on the same day. I spoke with Lakeland high school’s boys’ cross country coach Joe Verellen in a phone call interview as the main subject in the article. We talked about his career at Lakeland, his views about the article and his views on...

...Technology’s effect on education Justin W. Campbell University of Maryland University College The effects of technology are evident in just about every area of our lives. Technology impacts the way we do our finances and how we receive our entertainment; however, one of the most impacted areas is that of education. Within education the effects of technology are seen in both positive and negative ways. On the positive side, technology has provided new and innovative tools that enhance the learning experience. On the negative side, technology has added a level of distraction and has opened up a new horizon in the realm of academic dishonesty. The impact of technology on education is a double edged sword that can benefit academia while also hurting academia in the same swing. Before the influx of technological advances, a student’s access to empirical research was limited to brick and mortar repositories of information, the library. When faced with a research project students needed to appropriately allocate their time resources in order to physically visit a traditional library, scour catalogues of reference data, transcribe their notes (in handwriting) and then return home to write their paper; all the while, hoping that they have all the information needed. Additionally students were at the mercy of their local library to have the timeliest resources available as many smaller libraries would be horribly outdated (McCoy, 2014). Now in the age of technology, students...

...for the start of the Olympic Games (Berghoff, 2003). This ritual was taken from the Ancient Roman Empire in Olympia, Greece. The Nazis’ intentions were to portray Germany as the world empire. The Nazi party held the Olympics in order to create easement rather than tension by distracting the world from their aggressive militaristic and “eugenic” expansion. Though German athletes won most of the medals, United States athletes including African American Jesse Owens dominated the men’s running event with the most gold medals. Hitler never congratulated any other race that won medals except for the whites (Milford, 2012). Germany won 89 medals while the United States won 56. Germany’s domination during the Olympics gave dignity back to the German people. That success gave the Nazi party the confidence to authorize euthanasia programs in order to purify the German race to Aryan (Milford,...

...“There is a sudden hush throughout the audience, followed by a rush of rows whispering. He walks past them, oblivious to the going-ons and proceeds to the front. Something has changed, and everyone is aware.” In The Minister’s Black Veil, Nathaniel Hawthorne presents the idea that personal sacrifices must me made during one's lifetime for those you love even if it means giving up one’s happiness. In Milford, a small Puritan town in which men, women, and children are fancying another Sunday. The peace is interrupted on the Sabbath day when Reverend Hooper, Minister of the Puritan Community appears before his congregation inexplicably wearing an obscure black veil that extends from his forehead and covers his eyes and nose. The people of the town cannot hide their shock and disbelief and are frightened by his...

...Soitage ~GY ~OVU)~P December 18, 2008 Appendix A The 325kW (ac) solar photovoltaic (PV) power system located at Pilgrim Furniture City, 1755 Boston Post Road, Milford CT is interconnected to the local electrical distribution grid using a ‘behind the meter’ 480V 3 phase interconnection. As such, electricity that is generated by the solar PV system is used by the Pilgrim Furniture facility, effectively reducing the demand on the local electricity distribution grid. During periods when the solar PV system produces more electricity than is needed by the Pilgrim Furniture facility, the excess electricity is delivered back to the distribution grid via the utility company’s transformer. The solar PV system electrical layout and interconnection arrangement are detailed in the attached drawings. There are two solar PV inverters that control the electrical interconnection between the solar PV system and the local distribution grid. These are a Satcon 225kW inverter (model AE-225-60-PV-A) and a Satcon 100kW inverter (model AE-1 00-60-P V-A). These inverters are designed, manufactured and certified in full accordance with UL 1741. lnverter cutsheets are attached. The electricity production from the Solar PV system is measured by means of a revenuegrade metering system, this incorporating the following primary components: • Two “Shark 100” revenue-grade meters (manufactured by Electro Industries), with each meter measuring the electricity output from one of the inverters...

...Bristol Bay, Alaska "Salmon or Gold" Can you imagine living in a geographical area in which traditions, language, rituals, and economic sustainability hasn't changed in over 1,000 years? A place inhabited by indigenous people that have lived in harmony with nature only taking what is needed to sustain their lifestyles and having the innate wisdom to keep this resource in balance to ensure continued prosperity? Did you realize that there are still people living in areas here on earth that live without the modern day conveniences such as fast food, malls, and outlet stores? People that rely on bartering and exporting their resource to trade for clothes, shoes, and other items to sustain their way of living and to ensure that their traditions and way of life will continue for generations to follow? As the world becomes smaller, even people that have remained unchanged for thousands of years are being forced to deal with changes that will alter their future and their traditions because of living near valuable resources that are in high demand in our modern day world. And, like so many indigenous people from history, they are desperately praying, advocating, and becoming very political with their fight so that their way of life can continue without disruption to their ecosystems. Native to the area of Bristol Bay, Alaska for thousands of years, the Yupik people have depended on salmon, along with pike, whitefish, beavers, caribou, moose, berries, and plants. Bristol Bay still...
