The continuation of Middle Eastern conflicts require a constant flow of military operations in this region. Deployments cause military service members, which can also be spouses and parents, to leave their homes. This is usually for extended periods of time in support of combat operations away from their loved ones. Researchers report findings that show associations between deployments and increased alcohol and drug use, relationship and communication problems, and developmental delays in children. With any type of nursing process, assessment is the first (and ongoing) part of the process, followed by care planning and intervention. In delivering comprehensive care, the nurse must incorporate assessment of the family unit, or lack there-of, associated with the identified patient. Many family assessment tools have been devised to assist the nurse in gathering accurate data while opening up lines of communication and reflection for all members involved in the process. Selection of the appropriate tool for the identified family is crucial. Effective tools must be easy to administer in a fairly short amount of time and the data collected needs to be immediately available and useable. Family members need to see the relevance of the information gathered, and how it assists in improvement of their care- ideally soon after discussion, either by the nurse or a clinician. An initial interview and follow up discussion with the K family was completed over the course of 3 sessions. The first encounter involved only the identified patient (IP). It is the third game in the franchise and was released on October 11, 2005. Since I enjoyed the first two SOCOM games so much, I also decided to try SOCOM 3. It ended up being one of my favorite games on PlayStation 2 for multiple reasons. Both the single and multiplayer modes were upgraded and besides the lackluster graphics, the gameplay was solid for its generation. SOCOM 3 also made me a fan of military shooter games and the first person shooters today. Apparently, many other people felt the same way due to the fact that Sony named it one of its “Greatest Hits” by 2006 (Colayco, 2005). Sony Computer Entertainment and Zipper Interactive are the two primary companies responsible for the production of SOCOM 3. The game was developed by Zipper Interactive and produced by Sony Computer Entertainment, who is the parent company of Zipper. Both companies also consulted with the Naval Special Warfare Command, showing the realness of the game’s overall design (Colayco, 2005).
