Healing is a process. Miranda is continuing to heal from her surgery. She is doing well during the daytime; however, at night she does have significant pain where her screws and rods were placed. I spoke with Dr. Neuro #7, and he said this was a normal part of the healing. With Miranda's EDS, healing takes longer for her body. Miranda had a big blessing last week. This summer, Micah and Miranda's orthodontist group had a competition among all their patients. Whoever traveled the farthest away from Johnson City, Tennessee or went to the most unique place would win an iPAD. The individual had to take a picture wearing the t-shirt provided by the orthodontist. Micah traveled to Hong Kong and China during the month of June. On December 30, 2011, Miranda met Brandon Taylor at a function at the church. She came home and talked about him to me. Miranda was not interested in getting involved with any young man, due to the fact she had just endured major brain surgery with a fusion. It was hard for her to believe any man would love her with all her diagnoses. However, I encouraged her to give Brandon a chance. In January 2012, Miranda began attending college at Liberty University. On February 5, 2012, Miranda’s friendship with Brandon turned into a relationship and they had their first date. Miranda received a phone call on March 13, 2012, and her Make-A-Wish was granted. She was thrilled to receive the call. Her wish was to go to Honolulu, Hawaii to see where her maternal grandparents were married. Her grandfather was in the Navy when they married in Hawaii. Miranda wanted to see the church.
