Case Study Questions

1. What happened when the situation progressed and/or the proposed plan went into effect?
Apparently, the event didn’t go as planned. All the citizens of New York were startled by the low altitude flyovers. The unannounced fly-over brought back memories of 9/11. The 911 and 311 phone lines were flooded. That took away from real emergencies but the communities didn’t know what was going on.
2. Critique the implementation process. If there were problems, how would you characterize them? A coordination issue? A communication issue? Something else?

The plans were made right but the communication process was totally wrong. The lack of communication threw the whole process off. Everybody in New York should had known about the fly-over days prior to the event actually happening. The personnel that worked at the White House didn’t even know including Jim Messina or Robert Gibbs. Even if the citizens had found out late, Caldera could had ran it across the New York television channels all morning or aired it on the radio stations.
3. What is your take-away from this analysis? In other words, what would you say is the “moral of the story”?

The moral of the story is communication is a key part to success regardless if it is in planning an event, running a business or even in personal relationships. If communication is lacking then the whole project or mission will fall apart in the end.
4. Think “big picture”. In the broadest sense, who is the “hosting” organization (company, school, government agency) having the situation/dilemma? What would you say is that organization’s mission? Does the approach that the players appear to be taking to address the problem align with the mission of the organization?
Everybody involved in the planning of the fly-over is to blamed. The main person or organization responsible is Col. Turner and the PAG. The flyover was part of their mission because that is what the company does. The PAG did everything right but they should had made sure everybody had known regardless if people wasn’t responding to their emails.

Army Aviation in Low Intensity Conflict

...ARMY AVIATION OPERATIONS IN LOW INTENSITY CONFLICT Introduction “Foot slogging” by infantrymen has been most important and fundamental to address an insurgency; however, there are limitations to their mobility. To increase their versatility, the Portuguese introduced two contrasting means, the helicopter and the horse. While there were other, more conventional solutions to the mobility problem, such as trucks, jeeps, and light armored cars, these vehicles required at least crude roads, had other terrain limitations, and were vulnerable to land mines. The advent of the helicopter and its application in counter-insurgency began with the British in Malaya on 1 April 1950, with the formation of the Far East Casualty Air Evacuation Flight at Seletar with strength of three Westland S-51 Dragonfly helicopters. During the Malayan Emergency the British used their helicopters primarily for casualty evacuation and later for airlifting troops. Question that looms ahead for the future, no matter what the outcome in Jammu and Kashmir, and North Eastern States, is how the army aviation succeeds against fierce insurgency in strategy and capabilities. The Taliban’s resurgence, tenacious resistance against NATO forces in Afghanistan, Al Qaeda’s ability to elude United States forces, and the trouble Israel has had in trying to subdue violence in tiny Southern Lebanon (Hezbollah) and tinier Gaza (Hamas) deepen concern that even world’s finest militaries have problems against any kind...

Rizal: Hidden Beneath the Surface

...Nikki Vanessa V. Novales July 20, 2012 # 2012-42443 PI 10 E2-6R Rizal: Hidden Beneath The Surface A Reaction Paper On “Bayaning 3rd World” “Who is Rizal?” If you ask this question to any Filipino, they will most likely say, “He is our national hero” Or “He’s the person stamped on our 1-peso coin”. But is that all he really is? The movie “Bayaning 3rd World” is about two film makers trying to make a movie about Rizal. They found out, however, that this would not be an easy task, for their subject is a very complicated man. Rather than focusing on a single issue about Rizal, they decided to make a detective story about Rizal being the country’s national hero. They tackled several issues but focused mainly on Rizal’s retraction and Josephine Bracken. The movie was meant to be educational, but unlike most documentaries, “Bayaning 3rd World” is definitely not boring. The documentary was presented in a comical way, so that viewers of all ages would be able to understand it and grasp its meaning. I was confused at first because I didn’t know what the “Retraction Controversy” was and the two film makers started having these long conversations about it without explaining it to the viewers. But when I found out what it was all about, following the flow of the story became easy. Another controversy that arose was about Josephine Bracken, on whether she and Rizal were married or not. It was implied that if they were indeed married, then Rizal retracted...

For the film, see Cell Phone (film). For the Handphone film, see Handphone (film). The Qualcomm QCP-2700, a mid-1990s candybar style phone, and an iPhone 4S, a current production smartphone. A mobile phone (also known as a cellular phone, cell phone and a hand phone) is a device that can make and receive telephone calls over a radio link whilst moving around a wide geographic area. It does so by connecting to a cellular network provided by a mobile phone operator, allowing access to the public telephone network. By contrast, a cordless telephone is used only within the short range of a single, private base station. In addition to telephony, modern mobile phones also support a wide variety of other services such as text messaging, MMS, email, Internet access, short-range wireless communications (infrared, Bluetooth), business applications, gaming and photography. Mobile phones that offer these and more general computing capabilities are referred to as smartphones. The first hand-held mobile phone was demonstrated by Dr Martin Cooper of Motorola in 1973, using a handset weighing around 2.2 pounds (1 kg). [1] In 1983, the DynaTAC 8000x was the first to be commercially available. From 1990 to 2011, worldwide mobile phone subscriptions grew from 12.4 million to over 5.6 billion, penetrating about 70% of the...

Nsac Glidden

...------------------------------------------------- Executive Summary * Executive Summary The 2012 NSAC has chosen students to construct a campaign specifically for Wal-Mart stores to promote the sales of Glidden paint. Wal-Mart is one of the most prominent names in retail, while Glidden paint contributes a rich history of excellence in the paint market. Through both primary and secondary research methods our research provides information for the advertising campaign this following semester. Consumer demographics, purchasing habits, along with wants and needs, are all used to understand the potential market. Research on these topics is vital to the structure of effective advertising. By forming our focus groups we searched for deeper knowledge in the needs of paint shoppers and in the surveys we looked for more reasons people purchase paint and brand loyalty. We examined responses from painting professionals in order to compare results from nonprofessionals to see if these varied in any manner. The objective for getting into the Wal-Mart store was to pass out intercept surveys to the Wal-Mart shoppers. From the focus groups we found being able to match color, not having to apply many layers, customer service, quality, cost, and odor free are important to many shoppers along with word of mouth recommendations, however brand is not a concern. They believe adding jingles, and celebrities to a commercial will get people to buy the paint, and they would like to...
