RATIONALE AND SCOPE OF THE INFORMATION
SYSTEM STRATEGIC PLAN

1.1 Rationale These days, more and more businesses have been trying to cope up with the fast-changing and technology-advanced world. Since then, Information Systems and Information Technologies are used as tools by systems analysts to help businesses gain competitive advantage over its competitors in their respective industries. The group’s chosen company, Globesco Incorporated, currently has some of its business operations still being done manually. These processes still need to be worked on for it to be more effective and efficient in delivering good quality products and services to its customers. Given that, the goal of the group is to develop an Information Systems Strategic Plan. The IS Strategic Plain could later be used to integrate new Information Systems in Globesco Incorporated’s operations in line with improving the current system of the company. The group believes that it is important for Globesco Incorporated to have another Information Systems to be able to have a competitive edge over its competitors.
1. Scope
The following are included in the study: • Information gathered exclusively from the company’s main office • The analysis of the systems will focus more on the production and sales department • Order taking in the sales and marketing department • Ordering of raw materials under the production department • Accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll in the accounting department • Data from internal documents from 2009, 2010, and 2013 • Data obtained from multiple company visits and interviews with Mr. Jovic Sy and Mr. Jerry Sy. • Proposed System: Additional systems like forecasting system and inventory system. • Proposed System: Centralized system for Globesco Incorporated.
