One teacher that has had a major impact on my life is Mister Valentine. Mister Valentine, or as we called him, Mister V, was my eighth grade United States history teacher. Mister V was not only an outstanding teacher, but he was also an outstanding role model. In history class Mister V was always very knowledgeable about each and every topic that he taught and he always put it into terms that us eighth graders could understand. Mister Valentine helped me find my passion for history. In his class we really dove into our countries rich history and it was very interesting to me. Mister V always used to try to instill in us the virtue of respect and having good character. He was alway respectful to everyone around him, his coworkers, his students, his bosses, everyone. Mister V was not a man of man words but he always led by example. Not once did I ever see him be rude to someone or wrong someone and that really made an impact on my life and the life of others around me. I think Mister Valentine understood that around the eighth grade was when teenagers, specifically boys, could fall into the wrong crowd and end up on the streets and I believe that he did a great job in showing us young men how to act and how to truly be a man. Mister V was always very uplifting and believed in all of his students. I specifically remember something he did called the “Quote of the Day”. Mister V read tons of books and whenever he found a quote that he liked, he would write it down. He had a whole box full of notebooks that he had written quotes down in and he would go through them and pick out a quote that he thought could help us that day and throughout life. Some of these quotes would be by musicians, some by athletes, some by scholars, and some by people throughout history, but they always were uplifting and taught us a lesson.
