...Introduction Today mobile communication is playing a major role in the modern society. Sri Lanka has made rapid progress in information and communication technology in recent time. There are 12.8 million mobile phone users and 3.8 million fixed line phone owners among the country’s total population of around 22.8 million. Majority of the mobile and CDMA customers use prepaid connections. Therefore mobile reloads or recharge cards is a major necessity. Currently there are five mobile service providers as well as several CDMA providers. These companies use different recharge cards with different PIN numbers. Therefore those companies have to produce and distribute them separately. We understood this as a problem and as a solution we are suggesting a way to recharge all the networks from one card. This will reduce the distribution cost of those companies as well as customers also get benefit from it. Anyone can buy these cards from the various price ranges similarly to normal recharge cards and they can recharge their phone without considering their network. Some shops sell only selected types of cards from networks. Customers have to find their cards of their network here and there. This new system will provide answers for these problems. Project description • Issue a card with a specific PIN available in various price ranges to the customer. • PIN numbers are issued from the created database. • A dongle is connected to computer and customer sending...

...Currently, there are at least 12 major players in the market. Among these 12 major players, we found that some of them exist before the founding of LINE apps, which means that they transformed from desktop IM into mobile IM. However, most of these initially desktop IMs are doing so well in the existing market due because they have lack of capabilities to compete with those entrants who target only at the mobile segment. For example, ebuddy was established in 2003 as a light version of desktop IM. They start up as a cross platform IM, which means that if you have user accounts in different IMs platform, you would only need to download ebuddy to chat with friends. For example, you have MSN and Yahoo! Messenger, you need not to download both Yahoo! and MSN chatting tools, instead you can use only ebuddy to chat in both Yahoo! and MSN. They entered mobile segment in 2009 but it appeared that it was not so attracted by the public. Overtime, different player in different geographical region dominates the market of mobile IM industry. Kakao Talk dominates in Korea, LINE dominates in South East Asia, Japan and Middle East, WeChat dominates in Chinese market and Whatapps dominates in some parts of Europe and North America region. These major players have their own large users database in their dominated regions and the other competitors are very difficult to penetrate into the market. One interesting issues we realized from this situation is that...

Marking this shift was the launch of eZ Cash, a new mobile money service that has signed up over 1 million customers in just one year. eZ Cash is operated by Dialog Axiata PLC (Dialog), a mobile network operator (MNO) that was awarded a licence to operate as a payment services provider following revisions to the central bank’s regulations.1 As Ajith Nivard Cabraal, Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, explains, “Achieving financial inclusion through progressive regulation and innovation has been a principal and consistent ethos of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka.” The Sri Lankan case offers important lessons for both regulators and MNOs working to achieve the dual objectives of financial inclusion and economic growth. ...4600-01 INTRO TO DATABASES CLOUD DATABASES SUBMITTED BY: ALICIA RUCKER INSTRUCTOR: DR. LUIS VIDAL SPRING 2016 Abstract A cloud database is a database that typically runs on a cloud computing platform. Users can run databases on the cloud independently, using a virtual machine image, or they can purchase access to a database service, maintained by a cloud database provider. There is a proposed 5 layer cloud architecture. The External Layer, which is the first, is closest to the user. The second layer is the Conceptual Middleware Layer. The third layer is the Conceptual Layer. In this layer programming techniques, transaction management, query processing and optimization are considered. The fourth layer is the Physical Middleware Layer, where interoperability between various platforms is considered. Last, there is the Physical Layer which is concerned with how data is stored and accessibility. A cloud database management system is a distributed database that delivers computing as a service instead of a product. It is the sharing of resources, software, and information between multiply devices over a network which is mostly the internet. An example of this is Software as a Service or SaaS. SaaS is an application that is delivered through the browser to customers. A database management system is a software package with computer programs that control the creation, maintenance, and use of a database. It allows organizations to conveniently develop databases for various...
