...Time Management “One always has time enough, if one will apply it well” (Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, 1749, P.1). Effective time management is the most important factor in succeeding on personal and in professional goals and objectives. The average a person spends is fewer than seven hours of his or her day effectively. The remaining time is being wasted leaving the person overwhelmed and worried. Although time management is a big day to day life problem; it can be solved by building a schedule, using time saving techniques, and fighting procrastination (project management source, 2007). Building a schedule cannot only help fulfill the required goal, but it also remind a person of tasks, due dates, and events. An effective schedule should start with a planner that helps to keeps track of events and commitments. When planning the schedule for the day, a person should leave 20% of the day free for emergencies and interruptions. The next step is prioritizing the item to help identify important tasks and use all the energy on it. Sorting task according to priority and importance can identify tasks that are worthless or unnecessary. Most people spend 80% of their time trying to complete 20% of their tasks (project management source, 2007). When completing an important task on time, a person should reward himself/herself. When building a schedule, time saving helps a person to be organized and efficient, this leads to more personal time. Time saving has several effective techniques...

...Study Habits and Its Effect on Students Academic Achievement A Research Paper Presented to The Faculty of the English Department College of Business Adventist University of the Philippines Silang, Cavite In Partial Fulfillment of the Requirements for the Course Communication Arts 2 Raddison Brian Dorado March 8, 2016 BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY Research has concluded that it’s not how smart students are but how motivated they are and how they study that determines their growth in academic achievement (Society for Research in Child Development, 2012.) According to Kou Murayama (2012), while intelligence as assessed by IQ tests is important in the early stages of developing mathematical competence, motivation and study habits play a more important role in student’s subsequent growth. A student who does not have good study habits cannot do well in class recitation, daily quizzes, and actual pupil demonstration since he/she did not study and review the lessons learned. Good study habits are the tools to success (Losare, 2009). Losare (2009) also stated that nowadays, many children are engaged in computer games, cutting classes, watching television, excessive playing, and, worst of all, are involved in vices such as illegal drugs, gambling, and crimes. Others also use their intelligence in foolishness and bad deeds. They should be able to balance and manage their time wisely. A recent survey showed that nearly 40% of parents say high school is stressful for...

...STOCKHOLMS GASTRONOMICAL LANDSCAPE THROUGH A SOCIOLOGICAL PERSPECTIVE A COMPARISON BETWEEN 1950-60s AND 2000s NORRA REAL Oskar Åkerstrand ENGLISH COURSE C SPRING 2013 Abstract Food and especially gastronomy is something that has always interested me. Because of my interest of cuisine I chose to write a paper about restaurant culture in Stockholm. My goal was to write about the restaurant life in Stockholm through a sociological perspective, with politics and economics as the main perspectives. Because of time limits I was needed to narrow my view of the restaurant world to two timeframes, from 1955-1965 and 2002-2012. The study is mainly based on literature analyses and attempts to find connection between economical and political events and events in the restaurant world. Through the analysing of literature pertinent to my subject I’ve found that the restaurants and it’s life is highly dependant on it’s society, some changes are of course panoptic but there are certain changes in the political landscape and the economy that has indeed influenced the restaurants. It is important to recognize that we can’t discuss about Stockholm’s restaurant life isolated when there has been major changes in society. Some changes are general for the whole society as well as the country. Keywords Gastronomy, Restaurant life, Sociology Introduction Question Can the development of society mirror on to the restaurant scene of Stockholm regarding array of cuisines,...

...Overcoming Personal Procrastination Overcoming Personal Procrastination Abstract This paper will identify a personal problem of procrastination, where I will find solutions to help correct this problem, evaluate the information I have gathered, and explain how I will use the information to implement correction to my personal procrastination. Overcoming Personal Procrastination In my life I think I have always procrastinated. I remember since childhood in elementary school and middle school finishing projects the last day or late into the night before the project was due. Through this class, I have learned that it is partially due to my intense perfectionism. I get nervous and sometimes anxious of the impending project. It also has to do with the uncomfortable feeling of the unknown. When I do not know what I am going to do for a project, or I haven’t read what is expected, I push it off. I tend to always hit my deadlines, but do so in a hurry which does not help me to actually learn what I am working for. I don’t always procrastinate, but I undeniably do it frequently. I definitely always mean the best- as I want to be the best. Unfortunately, procrastination does not do me any justice. In order to overcome my procrastination I will need to do more than recognize it. Of course, though, it is a very important first step to fixing the problem. Besides understanding procrastination and how it develops, I need to do more research on understanding it and find...

Creating a simple to do list and setting completion goals is a great place to start. By setting timelines with goals and target, it is important to include breaks and rewards. Larger goals should be created with target set along the way. This will help to achieve these larger goals. Scheduling time and being specific about priorities will give you a clear path to follow. Every project should have a start and a finish date with pivotal milestones throughout. Without targets (milestones) there is the possibility of misinterpreting the timeline. You can get more done if you take regular breaks. You can even use the breaks as mini-rewards. This...

...Procrastination Procrastination is the act of intentionally putting off or not doing something that should be done. Most people deal with some form of procrastination in their lives and this is considered normal. However, delaying essential tasks and putting less important things ahead of them can cause negative consequences. Stress and anxiety are often a direct result of procrastinating as well as a lack of confidence and low self-esteem. Guilt is also associated with procrastination because of the perception of others and the potential disappointment of family and friends based on the lack of success. This character trait causes problems in all age groups and in many areas of life including college students and their achievement of educational goals. Unfortunately for me, procrastinating is a characteristic that affects me as a student and has impacted me greatly. There are many ways to sabotage academic success, but a guaranteed way is through procrastination. Procrastinators self-destruct by making choices that hinder their progress and achievement. This characteristic causes students to look for things to distract them and get them off task. Checking email, texting, and scanning social media like Facebook and Twitter are prime examples of distractions that force students to delay important responsibilities. Procrastinators often lie to themselves. Many are convinced that they will feel better about completing an assignment later or that they will work better...

I’m going to examine how rehabilitation and incarceration go hand in hand in the change process. Although I might have a different point of view on the issues than others, the overall consensus is undeniable refuted about myself. Abstract changes within my being have initiated long term success, and purpose, physically, mentally, and behaviorally. I never could get comfortable with change, but over the years change has become easier. I came to the realization that if I didn’t make some changes my life was going to continue down the road to loss of freedom, loss of the privilege to control my own behavior. Being in prison with a forced structured environment takes away mental stability and physical health, moreover it initiates hours of thinking as if time stood still. The planning procedures to cope with the situation, and the challenges were as if I was running a marathon cross country. I made the decision to change; it was time to identify the problems. I came to the conclusion that most of the changes that I wanted to make ultimately start with the proper way of thinking like the ultimate super computer thoughts became reality, and most of what I didn’t like about myself started in the mind first. I believe one of the...

...what I need to do, but I don't do it, or I wait until the last minute. And, time and again, the pattern repeats itself. I feel caught, trapped in a vortex of anxiety, stress, and procrastination. After self-criticism, I think the most common factor which helps me to procrastinate is because I'm disorganized, and I want to do everything at the same time in the last minute. The answer of this question warned me to take action and step up strategies that I can apply in my life to face these issues. So from there to face these issues , I write down my goal and give myself a deadline. Because a goal without a deadline can put me off. Visualize the future I want. I Imagine the emotions I will feel. Picture myself in a favorite place celebrating what I’ve accomplished.I Imagine those who love me most celebrating my success. And I act bravely daily. ...Procrastination: A PUPian Student Must Overcome By: Elloso, Princess L. Yan, Rochelle C. Chapter I : Problem and Background A. Background of the study When you look for the meaning of “procrastination” in the dictionary, it says that “it is an act of putting something off until later”. Obviously it is same for the Filipino term “Mañana Habit” means “mamaya na lang”. This habit is something we have learned from the Spaniards. And as we can see, most of the students do this habit. How it works? First of all, you need to do something NOW, but then you decide to do it later. As a result of the delay, you end up not doing it. Now, you tell yourself or somebody that you will do it TOMORROW. And tomorrow comes, the same cycle happens. Procrastination is finding the most difficult way of doing something. It’s jumping from one idea to another. Instead of starting your work, you procrastinate. You’re looking out the window, you’re staring at your neighbour, you’re watching television and you’re wasting your time instead that you have finish your work. In Psychology, there is this thing called “Present Bias”. It means being unable to grasp what you want. A change over time, what you want now isn’t the same thing you will want later. Procrastination is all about choosing WANT over SHOULD because you don’t have a plan for those times when you expect to be tempted. You must be depth at thinking about thinking because there will always be a war on your brain. B. Statement...
