...Best Vacation I Always Have Last year I had the best summer of my life, because I got to go on the vacation of my dreams again. We rented a bright blue Jeep, and headed to the beach in Destin, Florida for a week of extremely relaxing rolling waves, and very fine white sandy beaches. The first night there I was sitting by the blazing fire having a fruity adult beverage, and the sweet smell of the air reminded me of my childhood vacations to the Port Aransas beach in Texas with my parents over summer break from elementary school. I will never forget the outstanding memories I created with my parents on my childhood vacations. I could see the constant waves in the ocean from across the crowded beach, and I would always be so excited to step on the soft, white, sandy beach. As a young child, the first thing I would do is change into my one piece lacy swimsuit and run out to the beach. My cousins and I would spend the day splashing in the salty water, until we were too tired to keep our heads above the water. Then we would sit under our yellow umbrella on the soft damp sand and eat a bite of our favorite foods. It felt so good to have the bright sun blazing down on me. Our favorite thing to do was build the biggest sand castles on the beach. My cousins and I would have contests to see who could draw the best artwork in the sand. The grains of sand glistened in the sun like glitter on our newest handmade T-shirts. I will never forget how the gigantic boat would...

I would always be so excited to step on the soft, white, sandy beach. The first thing I would do is change into my bathing suit and run out to the beach. My sister and I would spend the day splashing in the salty water, until we were too tired to keep our heads above the water. Then we would lie on the soft damp sand and take a nap. It felt so good to have the bright sun blazing down on me. My favorite thing to do was build gigantic sand castles on the beach. My sister and I would have contests to see who could build the tallest sand castle. The grains of sand glistened in the sun like a diamond ring. I will never forget how the gigantic orange trees towered over me. Every day my grandpa would pick me an orange; they were so juicy! Every time I think about an orange, my mouth waters, and I think of how sweet they taste. Normally bedtime was a problem for me, but in Florida I fell right to sleep every night. I would leave the windows wide open, and I would fall asleep to the waves crashing on the sandy beach. I could hear the birds chirping outside my window along with the rustling of the wind. In the mornings we would walk to this little breakfast place called Bagel Snack. I would usually get a bagel and cream cheese, but sometimes I would live on the edge and get a waffle instead. No matter what though, I would always...

...It was the calm before the storm. In Newport Beach, California there is an iconic place known as Wedge. Its name comes from what happens when a south swell hits the massive rock jetty that creates the inlet to Newport Harbor. The water hitting the rocks alongside the beach creates the shape of a wedge. When the swell from the ocean tide is large, the powerful waves it produces can be enormous. And when the waves are enormous, people come from all around to watch them and to watch the people that are brave enough to ride them. Along the expansive sand beaches in Newport, there are many places to surf, body board and skim board. In a few places, the waves break close to or on the shore creating ideal conditions for skim boarding. That’s how it is at Wedge. That morning in September, I got to Wedge early, about 5:30 a.m. It was still dark but the orange sky signaled the sun would rise shortly. I wasn’t alone. There were already several guys there getting ready for the big day. But the crystal blue waves were still small and broke quietly on...

...The breeze was warm, the air was crisp and the big blue rushing waves were pouncing onto the beach one by one knocking little kids over. "Come here!" I hollered to my aunt. "I found a crab!" When my aunt came to me, I showed her the red snappy crab and then she opened her wet, sandy hand and showed me a pearl white clam she found. We started walking up and down the beach finding beautiful shells with very pretty shades of violet and turquoise. We even found a dead lemon shark on the beach, with it's jaw wide open and blood rushing down the sharks neck, where I didn't even dare go near. After a few minutes of wading in the deep blue water, we started eating our sandy peanut butter and jelly sandwiches we brought. {It was sandy because we...

...This summer I went to Destin Florida two times. We stayed on Miramar Beach. One of the trips was a girls trip, and the other trip was for a national softball tournament. One of the trips was in the end of May, and into June, the second trip was in the middle of July. On the first trip to Florida it seemed like there were just thousands of people on the beach. We would basically go to the beach every day. We would dive for sand dollars, swim out as far as we could, and we would throw the frisbee around almost everyday. If we weren’t on the beach we were shopping. When we went on morning runs we would see dolphins, also when we were paddleboarding Darci and I saw dolphins not far away from us. When we were at the beach it was like there was...

...and coaches got to go to Calamus and camp out for a week. It was a way to try to build team unity and to have a good time. There were three different groups of cars that were filled of people, some were trailing boats and some were towing campers. For my sake I was in a car that wasn’t completely full so that meant that I had room to spread out and fall asleep. This meant that a four-hour ride only seemed like it was two. Once we got there we had to set up camp and went to have a look around the area. Our campground was right next to a beach on a lake so we had a great spot. Before we knew it we were reminded that this was also a football getaway and two or three times a day we had conditioning out on the beach. One time we had to climb up a very steep sand hill and touch the coach’s hand then head back down. The part that made this harder was that it was a race to see who could be the first to be done. Other times we did sprints on the beach or pushups and other types of conditioning. When it came time to have a break, we had plenty to do during the day. There was fishing on the lake for different typed of carp and bass. Also Justin Stork brought his dad’s boat so we got to go boating and for my first time ever I got to go tubing. It was just a blast even though the wipeouts scared the coaches every time, because it looked like we were going to break a leg or something. Everybody would find a little sand bar out in the lake then set up camp and have our own party out on the...

...Phung Tran October 27, 2014 WAC 101 Evaluating Essay Santa Barbara A week before Labor Day, one of my friends asked me if I wanted to visit Santa Barbara, and I said yes. I had been looking forward to this two day weekend trip because it would be the first time I had traveled to a place that is far away from Arizona without my family. Early Saturday morning, I packed up my clothes in a huge black backpack that looked much more like a hiking backpack. Then I was ready to go to the bus station. It was still dark when I reached the bus station to go to Santa Barbara, and very few people lined up behind me in the station. I was nervous looking around but I was also very excited to begin my first independent adventure to a gorgeous place called Santa Barbara that known for its beautiful mountain landscape and its exquisite beach. After fifteen hours in the bus, I finally reached my destination and settled down in my hotel. My first view of Santa Barbara’s landscape, the place was wrapped around by a long range of mountains that were covered by a thick green layer of grass and trees. Alongside the hill, there were a lot flowers showing off their beautiful petals in the rays of the sunset. I could see a chunk of yellow dandelion that mixed with the green carpet of grass on the ground as my friend drove me around the mountain. The scattering of sunlight across the sky at this point painted an image of pinkish-orange color clouds that mingle with the blue sky. Opposite to the...

After I done with my lovely cookies, crunchy smell is disappeared and I got that salty smell and heard yelling comes from the sea. It was my 45 years old dad who cannot swim! There were 10 meter between house and the coast, but I run like 100 miles. One scene was repeating itself : my dad was plunging into water over and over again. “Save him!” my mom was shouting, but there were nobody else than me and my brother. “who, me?” I answered her in a worry. She was the one who told me stay away from deep water, now...

...The, enclosed, beach is silent. The bright ball blinds you as it emerges; it rises like a yellow lollipop on the distant horizon. Crashing against the shore, small waves wash the night's debris onto the land. Untouched golden sand covers the floor as far as your eyes can see. Soothing, a gentle sea breeze rustles through your hair. Beach shops prepare for their day of excited costumers bustling in and out of their small seafront shops. Opening their doors, they bring out all of there beach products looking out to the sea you can see the large cruise ships on the worlds edge. Abandoned, nothing there apart from a few sea gulls pecking at the rubbish left by yesterday's visitors. Empty crisp wrappers, chocolate wrappers, ice cream papers and half eaten cones scatter the yellow sand. Young children stumble onto the moist sand, with small buckets and spades in their hands, they shout and talk in excitement. Damp sand is forced between their toes. Straight away, the young children put on their swimming costumes and are smothered with thick white sun screen, to protect them from the bright sun. Children running towards the shoreline; their parents struggle onto the sand, loaded like camels with everything they will need for their day. Sandwiches, cold drinks, wind breakers, towels all bagged up and slung over both shoulders. A hot sea breeze rushes through the visitor's hair, as you stand there you can taste the salt in the air because it is so strong. The sound of the waves crashing...

Games would last until we could hear our parents yelling for us to return to the home for the diner, and even then most of us would wait a while longer until we were "in trouble" for not listening. The parents generally didn't mind because they knew we were having a great time. The years grew on and we still played, but more of the kids stoped playing or moved so the games were not exciting as when we played as kids. The the beach provided entertainment for everyone.
